HIS DARK HORSE
HIS DARK HORSE
Author: Humeyra

The Night Hunt

The night sky was dark and gloomy as rain fell from the heavens gracing the thirsty land. The rumbling sound of thunder accompanied by several flashes of lightning was not left behind. The moon appeared shrouded by the dark clouds hiding its glow from the residents of the planet earth.

A lone figure dressed in a fitting ninja outfit walked on the empty streets enjoying the rain. Her entire body was in black except for her sea blue clear eyes. Her clothes were waterproof. Additionally, so was the mask she wore.

She looked at the watch in her left hand. Her eyes slanted a bit as her face was hidden from view by the mask she wore. She had two hours to enjoy the rain. With every step she took, her heart lightened. It was as though the rain washed away her burden.

Lee loved the rain. If not for anything else but for the fact that she could cry freely in the kind of weather. She loved water in all its forms. It washed away her sweat, tears, and blood. It cleaned her body of the filth she came across in her everyday work. Additionally, the sound of the rain was like a therapeutic medicine for her soul.

She walked around Vasca city, relishing in the emptiness of the streets. Another reason why she loved the rain was that she hated crowds. Most people fear the rain and its coldness, yet it worked perfectly for her.

"If the world abandons me, I shall accompany thee. Where the storms reside, my heart lies. There was no grace to the angst that many have no heart to see. Amidst the downpour and thunder, the lonely path I shall walk.

As the phases of the moon change, so does my nature. Like the four seasons alternate, my heart camouflaged. If not for how the world went, to its command, I bent. Now walking a lonely path, the storm I embrace. "

She recited her favorite words. Two hours flew by quite fast as she roamed around the city. It was finally time for her mission. Her bright eyes turned cold as she blended into the darkness heading for a specific place.

In one of the city's highest skyscrapers sat a man at the balcony. He was in a bathrobe whose belts were looped neatly to his waist. A glass of red wine was in his left hand as his right hand held a branded cigarette.

The man appeared to be in bliss from how high he looked. The stool that was by his side had white paper with traces of a white powder in it. He looked like a man spending his free time alone in peace, yet that was far from the truth.

The room that he occupied was hardly cheap. It was not a place many could afford. His face looked ruggedly handsome and friendly. Despite that, a monster laid beneath the exterior surface. He had just molested a fifteen-year-old girl who was currently unconscious on his bed. That, of course, was not consensual.

He had taken a liking to the girl and ordered his men to bring her to his room. Being the sadist monster that he was, he not only molested the minor but also physically abused her. Her blood had tainted the white bed sheets on his bed.

The man was not bothered by any of it. It wasn't the first time that he had done this. No law was above him. He had a belief that the law was made for the poor while the rich only believed in the act of paying their way through everything.

He, of course, was not the only one with such absurd beliefs. It was human nature to be corrupt. A figure dressed in black stood behind him. Her eyes grew colder with each passing second as she watched the man indulge in the pleasure of the world.

She took out a small whistle-like object and blew it into it. An almost unassailable needle flew from it and pierced the man's exposed neck. It took a few seconds for the man to pass out cold. The cigarette in his mouth stayed in place like the glass of wine in his hand.

Lee moved swiftly and removed the glass from his hand before he let it go. Putting the glass away, she took out an injection from within her clothes. The syringe was then carefully injected into the man's hand. She felt tempted to split his throat wide open as a painless death wasn't satisfactory, but doing that would alert his guards.

Finishing what she came for, she walked further into the room, where she abruptly came to a halt before the bed. Her eyes followed the trail of blood on the sheets until a pale white face was exposed. Without thinking twice, she carried the girl's body into her arms and went towards the balcony.

I hope you enjoy your ride to hell. She thought as she held on to the rope that she used to climb up. It was difficult to climb down a skyscraper with an unconscious body in hand, but she managed to make it out.

Lee took the girl's body to the nearest hospital where she left her somewhere she could be seen." I am sorry that I can't help you further. I hope you recover from this. " This was her parting words as she turned around and left.

The rain has finally stopped falling, and the night was calm once again. The storm has finally passed. Lee walked away from the area as she walked towards the edge of the city where she resides.

When she arrived at the door, it opened before she could insert her key. Gentle hands stretched forward, pulling her into its warm embrace. Luca had been worried about the girl. He knew for sure that she was competent enough to do her job, but each time she went on a mission, he would be worried sick for her.

Lee chuckled as she embraced him back. "Hey, I am fine. It's not like it's my first time to kill. Besides, you are my teacher. You should know how competent I am. I bet I could kick my teacher's ass if we sparred, "she teased.

Luca let go of her and flicked her forehead. " Don't forget that you are still a teenager who has someone to take care of and protect. What am I supposed to tell your little sister if anything happened to you? You know how impertinent she can be, right? She is too clever for her good.

The two walked into the small but cozy and warm apartment hand in hand. Luca helped Lee out of her outfit until she was standing before him in underwear. He bent a little and pecked her forehead before sending her to take a shower as he warmed her food.

Lee kissed his cheeks in return and left. She loved the man and appreciated his very existence. If not for him, perhaps Lavender and her little sister would not have survived. She could do anything for the man: he knew it. They had each other's loyalty. They were a family.
