Chapter two

No, no way!

This was definitely a joke. The moon goddess was definitely playing a trick on me, she couldn’t be serious about this, not at all.

While I still thought this was all a game, my wolf, Brooke, suddenly called, “mate.” And it felt like I was about to lose it all and fall to the ground, the guards held on to me, roughly, stopping me from hitting the ground as they must have thought it was another plan of mine to escape.

He didn’t say a word and standing there, in front of him, the whole place was dead silent. Why wouldn’t it be? I swallowed, as I stared at my ‘mate’, shocked. I took in a deep inhale as I stared at him, fear surging through me. Maybe he didn’t mean it, maybe he was just joking.

I nodded like a fool to myself as the whole place remained silent, it was a joke. He wasn’t really planning to buy me for fifty million, now was he?

“Fifty million.” He called again, and I gasped. He wasn’t joking.

Was he really going to buy me? Was my own mate really going to buy me at an auction today?

After he called that amount, the other men in the room kept quiet. No one said anything, how could they?

He was Alpha Alexander Ferrari, the most feared Alpha of our time, and for someone like him, the death of people was nothing. Things like these weren’t new to him, and from rumours, he usually attended things like these and I had heard that he had many sex slaves and even ended the lives of some that were useless to him. Recalling the things I had heard about him, standing in front of him now, I wanted nothing more than for the ground to come open and then swallow him.

As I stared at him, unable to look him in the eye, I couldn’t help but think about the things I’d heard, and thinking about all of this, I couldn’t help but wonder one thing~ how could the moon goddess even think to mate me to someone like him? Was it because I had asked her to save me? Again, when I asked her to save me, this was definitely not what I meant. Why would I ever want to be mated to someone like him?

Staring at him, I could see the smirk on his face as he turned me to everyone in the room. “I have bought her, so now, you can all close your eyes because she’s mine now.” He said, and hearing him say this, I could feel my legs start to get weaker.

Sure, for anyone, it would definitely sound hot, but for me, when it came to a man like this, it sounded like a threat to me, and I swallowed, biting my lips so I could stop the tears from streaming down my cheeks.

I didn’t even want to start thinking of what he could have meant by that. Being his wasn’t something that anyone would want for themselves, especially people like me who had done their best to keep their virginity intact for so many years.

“Get her ready, she’s coming with me.” He said, and with that, the expression on his face changed to something even colder and more scarier as he walked away from me.

The moment he walked away from me, I gasped, realizing I had been holding my breathe the whole time as my legs gave way immediately, the spotlight coming off me as I fell to the ground while the guards dragged me away.

As one lady came and got me changed, I kept praying this was all a bad dream, and I would wake up from it, soon, but it wasn’t. I pinched myself many times so that I could believe it was a dream, but no, it wasn’t, and if there was anytime in my life that I had felt the most scared, it was now.

As they led me to his car, I found him standing at the door, and from seeing his posture, I could feel my wolf jumping In excitement. I had to admit, he looked very hot, but hotness wasn’t what I was concerned about at this moment, it was my life. The whole thing was still very confusing to me. Why did he even buy me? What plans did he have for me?

I made to talk to him, but all he did was open the car door as he gestured I got in, and not wanting to do anything that would put my life in jeopardy, I obeyed, without saying a word and he shut the door as he walked to the other side of the car, getting in.

Did he really just act like a gentleman and open the door for me? Maybe he wasn’t as bad as they painted him to be, maybe people just got to misunderstand him. I shook my head, no! What was wrong with me? Opening a door for me to get in wasn’t enough to make me forget all the things I’d heard about him, no!

All through the ride, he didn’t say anything, but at intervals, when I couldn’t control myself, I would turn to him, and gosh, staring at his facial features, his wonderfully sculpted jawline, pointed nose, wonderful everything, I couldn’t help but admire him and be lost in those dark orbs that were now glaring at me.

Glaring at me! Realizing that he was now staring at me, I turned away from him, and he smirked. “Stare at me one more time, and I swear, you wouldn’t have to look at me with clothes on.”

Hearing this, I immediately knew what he meant, and I turned away. Even with that statement, I found myself stealing glances at him, and I didn’t know why I was feeling like this. Why was I getting lost in him? This wasn’t supposed to be, I was supposed to brace myself, why was I letting myself getting drawn in hy his charm?

For the rest of the ride, even though I felt different parts of me shivering in fear of him, I found other parts getting lost in him too, and I couldn’t help but mutter one thing, “screw the mate bond.” Gosh, this thing was driving me crazy.

Finally, after a long drive, the car came to a stop. On the door opening, I found a carpet being laid for me, and my jaw dropped in shock as I turned to him, but turning to him, he didn’t have any expression on his face as all he did was signal for me to go, and I swallowed in fear as I walked into the house.

Walking into the house, holy shit! I couldn’t believe my eyes. This was wonderful. It was the most beautiful thing I’d ever set my eyes on in my whole life and I grabbed on to my dress, in shock.

As if being shocked by the beauty of this mansion wasn’t enough, suddenly, I felt a firm hand get wrapped around my waist, and looking up, I found Alpha Alexander standing right next to me, and with his hands around me like this, it felt like I could no longer hold myself up.

I swallowed as we started to walk to God-knows-where. We were walking together, when suddenly, a man who he addressed as Beta Ivan stopped us, and stopping us, he whispered something to him.

On the whispering being over, the look on his face changed and I could see his eyes change. He immediately took his hands off my waist, “I’ll get a maid to take care of you, I need to go settle somethings.” He told me, and I stared at him, confused.

“But….”

“Don’t follow me.” He told me, and that was all he said before rushing off with the Beta.

My eyes widened in shock, this was my chance. I didn’t know what he had planned for me and honestly, I didn’t want to find out because what were the chances it would favor me? I took in a deep inhale, and looking around, after making sure there was no one watching me, only one word rang in my head, “RUN!”

I swallowed as raising my dress, I started to run towards the entrance, trying to be unnoticed, but before I could make it far enough, I heard Alpha Alexander’s voice, and I froze in fear.

“You think you can double cross me, huh?” I heard his voice from the room I had just passed by and I closed my eyes, I was done for.

Slowly opening my eyes, I turned to the room, but he wasn’t talking to me.

Right before my eyes, he pulled out two silver swords from two men, and pulling them out, the men fell to the ground, dead, and I gasped in horror as tears streamed down my cheeks.

Hearing me gasp, he turned to me, and I could see the look on his face change. I shook my head, he was a monster.

“What are you doing here?” He asked me, starting to walk towards me, and I shook my head.

He could do anything to me if I remained here and I couldn’t risk it. I wiped my tears as immediately, I rushed off, into what looked like the garden, but before I could make it far from him, he grabbed me, turning me to himself, and staring at him, and his blood stained hands, tears streamed down my cheeks as I shook my head.

“Amelia!” He called out my name, fiercely, and hearing my name come out of his mouth, all I could recall was the horrific sight I just beheld seconds ago, and staring at him, only one thing ran through my mind.

If he could kill two men at a go without a second thought, he could do the same to me,especially as I had just tried to escape. No! There was no way I could be mates with such a monster. I took in a deep inhale, wasn’t the only reason for my presence here the fact that I was his mate?

There was only one thing for me to do now, especially if I wanted to get away and that was to reject him. Staring at him and how angrily he was staring at me, my heart raced in fear, but I had to do it. It was the only way I could save myself from any future danger.

“I, Amelia Aniston, rejects you, Alexander Ferrari as my mate.”
