TRINITY POV

My mother and Alpha Jericho had matched me with a man four times my age.

It had only been three weeks since Theo’s rejection and my mother found out I was no longer a virgin. She decided that rather than wait for me to be disgraced by a second chance mate who might actually choose someone like me, it was better they did it for me.

Elder Lawrence. Eighty years old. Almost Blind. Wrinkly. And a disgusting pervert even for his age.

They didn’t care. They wanted me to bear heirs for him. He was an important elder in the pack—one of the lawmakers. He had just two children, both already dead. Now I needed to continue his legacy.

My stomach turned as I glanced across the dining table at Alpha Jericho laughing at something Elder Lawrence said.

“Trinity, is it?” Elder Lawrence said. His voice was scratchy, creepy, and made my skin crawl.

I stared at the polished marble floor, not daring to look up. It was an unspoken rule for maids not to look at their superiors.

“Come here, darling,” he added when I didn’t respond.

I didn’t move.

“Are you deaf?” Alpha Jericho inquired, quiet authority rolling off him.

“N-no, Alpha,” I stuttered, gulping hard. I quickly moved away from where I was standing, nearly tripping over my own feet.

I stood behind the chair next to Elder Lawrence. His dry, wrinkled hand reached out and settled on my waist, pulling me closer.

I fought the urge to shudder.

“She’s as pretty as the Luna,” Elder Lawrence said, moving his hand up and down my hip.

I didn’t know what to do. I just stood there trembling, praying for the stupid dinner to end so I could return to my room.

“Too fat though and unfortunately, she’s got her father’s hair.” His voice was edged with disappointment. I stole a quick glance at his face, which barely had any flesh left on it.

His eyes caught mine and I hastily looked away. Elder Lawrence let out a chuckle that sounded more like a dying cough. He didn’t let go. He kept groping me inappropriately while discussing pack matters with Alpha Jericho.

After what felt like an eternity, dinner finally ended. Alpha Jericho rose to his feet and I pulled away from Elder Lawrence’s grip, preparing to clear his plate.

He stopped me.

“The other maids will see to it,” he told me.

I was about to ask what I was supposed to do when Elder Lawrence gripped my hand and tugged until I was sitting on his lap.

His bony thigh dug painfully into my flesh. I shot right back up almost immediately. I stared at the maids in dismay as each of them left the room until I was the only one left here. With Elder Lawrence.

He smiled darkly, eyes glinting with a hunger I knew too well. My heart began to race.

“Let me go,” I snarled, yanking hard on my hand and stumbling back.

What the hell were they thinking leaving me here alone?

I made my way to the door without looking back. As soon as I twisted the handle, Elder Lawrence spoke.

“Unfortunately, it’s locked, my darling.” His irritating voice reached my ears.

Did Alpha Jericho plan this?

I spun, facing him. He rose to his feet, using the table as support, then his hand went to the drawstrings of his pants.

What the hell was he doing? My eyes widened as he pulled down his pants, freeing his cock. Small. Wrinkled. Barely alive.

He gripped it, wagging it. “Come on, sweetheart. I need to put a pup in you. I don’t have much time left.”

I gagged, slapping a hand over my mouth to push back the nausea. I couldn’t believe my mother had agreed to this. No matter how much she loathed me, subjecting me to this was too much.

“Trinity,” Elder Lawrence groaned. “Come on, let Daddy satisfy you.”

“No!” I blurted, yanking hard on the handle. Nothing happened. I pounded on the door.

“Help!” I screamed. “Somebody… help me!”

Guards were outside. I was sure of that. But if an order had been given for no one to respond to me, then I was doomed.

“No one is going to answer you,” Elder Lawrence said. “Why do you think everyone else left but you?”

It was obvious. Because Alpha Jericho hated me just the way his daughter did.

“I bought you,” he continued. “And your duty now is to me. Now get back here and come please me.”

“Over my dead body,” I said through gritted teeth. I’d sooner be dead than have anything to do with him.

I looked around the dimly lit dining hall frantically. My eyes darted over the long banquet table, towering stone pillars, portraits of former Alphas lining the walls, and heavy tapestries and hunting trophies disappearing into the shadows as I searched for any way out. Then I saw it. An escape door lay concealed behind the massive pack banner at the far end of the room. I raced for it.

“You little shit!” Elder Lawrence snarled. I didn’t stop. I gripped the metal handle and yanked. Luckily, it gave way. I slipped out and ran back toward the main building entrance.

I bumped into Marisol. She frowned, staring down at me.

“You shouldn’t be here—”

“Excuse me,” I pushed past her, taking the stairs two at a time. When I got to my room, I breathed out a relieved breath. Although I knew I wasn’t out of the clear. If Alpha Jericho knew I had escaped, he’d come drag me to Elder Lawrence himself.

Maybe even force me to please him while he watched. I shivered at the thought.

My eyes fluttered shut, enjoying the brief tranquility of the room, but the ringing of my phone broke through my thoughts.

I crawled toward the nightstand and picked it up. Doctor Brenda. The pack’s doctor.

My heart skipped a beat. I swallowed thickly and glued the phone to my ear.

“Hello, Doctor,” I said in a small voice.

Doctor Brenda inhaled softly. “The test results are back.”

My fingers tightened around the phone.

“Congratulations, Miss Justice.”

She paused.

“You’re pregnant.”
