LOGINJARED'S POV
I stared at the bright faces before me. The sparkle in their eyes caught me unaware and made me wonder what was going on.
We stepped out of the car, hoping to enter the new house Sterly said he bought for our fake marriage, but instead, we met four strangers standing at the entrance with radiant smiles on their faces.
An older scentless woman, an older Alpha man, and two younger Alphas... a man and a woman.
The middle-aged couple looked really good. The man looked handsome, and so was the woman, but the younger ones weren't left behind either. Especially the female, she looked more like a doll, and if I were still a beta, I would have thought she was a strong omega.
I stared dumbfoundedly, waiting for them to say anything. But my eyes lingered on the younger female more because I couldn't stop thinking she looked familiar.
I stared more intently, and my eyes slowly widened. I turned around swiftly, my eyes fell on Sterly's exquisitely handsome face, and then I glanced at the lady again. While Sterly's beauty transcended gender without tipping into androgyny, the lady's beauty wasn't so exaggerated. But their lips were exactly the same, and the coldness in their eyes was identical.
"Oh my goodness!" The middle-aged woman exclaimed and moved forward. She caught my hands in hers and drew me closer to her. "Look at the adorable little thing. This is my son-in-law, isn't he?" She didn't seem to be asking anyone, though.
Her fingers moved to my hair, and she gently stroked it down. "He's so adorable." She cooed. "Look at those big pearly eyes. Where did Sterly find a partner this adorable?"
The word 'adorable' never left her mouth. She raised a hand multiple times, seemingly planning to touch my cheeks, but stopped herself at the last minute. Her eyes wouldn't stop flashing.
I could tell she was dying to touch my cheeks.
But wait, were my cheeks that charming? No one ever told me that.
I couldn't help but smile too. The woman was too nice, and the aura around her made someone relax. I couldn't muster any resistance with her, and judging by her earlier words, I could tell she was Sterly's mother.
Although the relationship between Sterly and me was fake, his mother had no idea, and the love in her eyes was genuine.
My eyes caught the smiling middle-aged man beside her. His smile widened every second, to the extent that it looked like his cheeks might tear, but he wouldn't stop. He kept rubbing his palm, almost nervously, and his eyes lingered on his wife often, as if waiting for her to let me go so he could also speak to me.
I also looked at the young man and woman by the side, but they, too, were staring back. The female's cold expression had morphed into a pleasant smile, and the man was smiling hard, too. Looking closely, the man really looked like his father...
"Let's go inside, shall we?" The female proposed.
"Inside? Which inside?" Only then did Sterly reply.
His cold tone was a stark contrast to the cozy atmosphere.
"How did you even find this place out? I hid it enough." He questioned with a bit of annoyance in his tone.
The mother rolled her eyes and sneered. "Did you think buying the house under your partner's name would stop us from finding out?" She released my hand and approached Sterly. She pinned his ear and pulled. "Say, were you really adamant on keeping my son-in-law away from me?" She sounded angry.
Sterly's expression crumbled into a painful groan.
The father rushed forward, but the two younger ones beat him to it. "Mum, Sterly is in pain." The female pointed out. Her tone sounded agitated, which surprised me.
Sterly wasn't a life doll, was he?
He wouldn't break from a simple ear pinch... right?
But I seemed to be the only one with that idea...
The brother also held the mother's arm. "Mum, you know Sterly is always like that. You don't have to hurt him for this." He pleaded.
The father covered the mother's hand that was pinching Sterly's ear with a perplexed expression on his face. Anyone else would have thought he was the one being punished. "Don't hurt our son, dear. He's in pain already."
The mother snorted and pulled away. "I only wanted to teach him a bit of a lesson. Why are you all treating me like a violent woman?" She clicked her tongue in annoyance and returned to my side.
"My darling, come with me, let's go inside." She took my hand again.
I nodded, still in a daze. I still found it hard to comprehend the drama that took place before me.
The family was still with Sterly, pacifying him like he was broken!
And he... his expression was still as cold as ever.
I followed his mother inside, warmth still lingering on my hand where she held it. I shouldn't have felt envious... but I did.
JAREDThe next morning, I woke up earlier than usual. Had a short bath and immediately dressed up for class. I tiptoed downstairs, inwardly praying that Sterly wouldn't notice my action. Fortunately, everything worked well, and even after I left the compound, no one stopped me. I swiped up my phone and booked a ride down to school. Twenty minutes later, a yellow car parked in front of me, and the driver quickly recognized me. Fearful of being caught, I entered the cab and told the man the address to my school. Only when the car started did I breathe in relief. The heavy weight in my chest seemed to be loosened. Looking at the phone which had been silent for a while. I decided to send a message to Sterly to let him know that I had something to do in school. Typing the lies, I felt guilty. But then again, what was I supposed to do?Having spent a sleepless night, thinking about so ma
JARED Unable to comprehend what was going on in my mind, I could only place the phone to my ear as I waited for Stephen to stop scolding his naughty lover. "Ah yes, Jared. I'm in Ryan's house. I said, stop. Don't touch that place, damn it. Don't push it in." My lips pursed. Blush crept to my face and directly went toward my neck. "Jared, are you there?" Stephen was already panting. Intermittent moans escaped from each word. I gritted my teeth as my blood boiled furiously. "Fuck off." I groaned and ended the call. "What was that?"A particular alluring voice entered my ears, and turning my head, I saw the blindingly handsome Mr. Sterly standing a few feet away with obvious concern on his perfect face. I felt like my skin was burning. Biting my lower lip, I hid my phone and shook my head. "It's nothing. Let's go in to eat. Also, I want something heavy instead." Damn that Stephen. I was worried about him, thinking he would need some time before he could accept the pregnancy. B
JAREDI stood by the roadside, lost in thought. The only thing that came to mind was that I needed to wait for Sterly. He'd said earlier that he was on his way, and this was the only thing that kept me rooted to a place since Stephen left. I watched as cars passed by. My mind swirled with thoughts. Right then, a silver-colored car stopped before me, and the window wound down, revealing a stunningly handsome face. Seeing the man in the car, my lips slowly pursed, and my eyes reddened. Tears welled up in my eyes, threatening to fall. Without waiting for him to say a word, I opened the door and stepped in. Our eyes met, his heterochromatic eyes revealed all the worries he might have tried to hide, and right then, my chest clenched. I wrapped my arms around his waist, hugged him tightly, and began crying. "Stephen... he's pregnant. My friend is pregnant." I cried out loud. Sterly seemed to tense up for a moment as my body trembled against him. My tears stained his shirt, and I
JAREDI followed after Stephen in a daze, unable to comprehend what was going on in my heart. My phone buzzed endlessly in my pocket, but only after I watched as Stephen entered a cab and drove off did I bring out my phone and answer the call without glancing at it. "Jared? Jared?" A familiar worried voice rang through the phone. My body trembled as I brought the phone to my ear. My lips parted, wanting to say something, but only tears rolled down my cheeks. I raised a finger and wiped. Why was I crying?"Jared, are you okay? What happened earlier? Why did you end the call? Jared?" Sterly's concerned voice continued ringing. I stretched my wet finger toward the direction the car left, and my heart thumped. "I'm coming to the hospital right away. Wait for me, okay?" Said Sterly as the sounds of hurried footsteps sounded over the phone. But my thoughts remain
STEPHEN I stared at the doctor with amusement in my eyes, but the little bit of smile died down again. After leaving Jared worriedly, staying at my side for an hour, why would the doctor expect me to joke around with him? Honestly, even though Jared could not understand why the doctor wasn't eager to treat me, I knew it. In a society where only alphas and omegas were important, betas like me sometimes seemed like a waste of space. When things happened, people would care about omegas more and then ask about the Alphas. But betas? We were more like weeds. Most times, unwanted...But it still annoyed me at times. The only reason I hadn't lost my mind all these years was that even though Jared was a beta, he had never had to experience the cruelty betas experienced in our society. Mainly because of his physique. Jared was born beautiful. He had a small physique, though tall, he was lean and with lean but exquisite muscles. With a glance at his tender face, anyone would think he was
JAREDAfter an hour of waiting beside a sleeping Stephen, he finally opened his eyes and looked around with confusion in his eyes. "You are here." He said, his tone a bit relieved but still weak. I nodded, taking his hand in mine and squeezing briefly. "I haven't called aunt and uncle. I didn't want to trouble them if the case is not urgent." I explained to him. Stephen nodded as he understood. He sighed and tried to sit up. Seeing that, I stood up and helped him sit. With a pillow behind him, he finally looked comfortable. "The result isn't out?" He asked. I shook my head. "It isn't," I replied. The doctor immediately performed several tests on Stephen when we arrived at the hospital, but even after an hour, there was still no response from the doctor. It made someone troubled and angry at the same time. Stephen frowned. "It's getting late. What's taking them so long? I'm certain it's just indigestion. I don't understand why they have to conduct so many tests on me." His voi
