AMELIA XAVIER

How can one explain an emotion; anger, joy, worry… . I couldn't explain what I felt whether it was anger, disgust or even clear excitement. But only one thing could help overcome such feelings.

Violence.

I punched Owen in the face, and instantly felt a lot better. “Ouch, I deserved that beautiful,” he said sarcastically, his voice deep, but clear like spring water out from a stone.

“You deserve more,” I retorted, my shoulders relaxed and my fist slowly uncurled. I assessed Owen Winters, his hair slick and shiny, and as always, he had a clean look. His shoulders seemed broader , probably with years of experience with work. “You're different,” I muttered, his cologne strong, dousing my nose from the smell of alcohol that filled the room. I didn't know what the perfume scented like, but it worked wonders for my nose.

Owen laughed, taking a bottle of alcohol from the small bucket on a table. “Let's get some air, love, we have a lot to catch up on,” he said, his

AMELIA XAVIER The room was white and smelled like disinfectant — it made me a little nauseous. I opened my eyes slowly just for it to hit direct light and immediately shut it back. Opening them one lid at a time, I looked around, barely a second before Owen stepped into the room. He looked stressed, and I felt guilty. “Owen…” I muttered, making him turn sharply to where I lay. “Pumpkin, you're awake,” he said, his expression changing from neutral to really excited. He sat beside me as his hands graced my cheeks — they were warm and scented like chocolate. “How many days have I been out?” I asked, curious to know. Owen shrugged before replying, “Just a day, the doctor said you'll be fine as long as you rest and…”“The baby?” I interrupted, already impatient. I had put a lot of pressure on myself that it was accurate to say the baby was in danger. “The baby's fine, Amelia. Let's relax after this. Ash is dead,” he reassured me, but an unsettling feeling stirred at the pit of my

AMELIA XAVIER It looked as though the door was three countries away because my legs started to ache. Nonetheless, I increased my strides while trying to catch my breath. My heart pounded sharply blocking my hearing as I finally reached the other side of the room. But before I could turn the knob, I felt a sharp pain behind my head making me fall to my knees. I turned around just in time to see Ash Winters, he had a wicked grin across his face, and he looked more menacing due to his scar. “You look pretty when you're scared,” he muttered, throwing his leg at me. Staggering and unable to hold myself, I plopped to the ground with a loud thud. My head pounded, sure enough I would have a mild concussion, but that wasn't going to make me give up. “If you stress yourself too much you might end up giving birth a little too early, sweetheart,” Ash commented as I struggled to get up. My knuckles cracked when I finally stood to my feet, and my knees ached like there was a sudden shift

AMELIA XAVIER Three days passed and Owen was to be discharged today. The feeling of warmth overwhelmed me not just because Owen was coming home today, but we hadn't heard from Ash Winters since the fight at his party. I stood before the kitchen counter making a poor attempt at skinning an onion. This was more reason why I needed Owen home. Staring at the poor onion, I decided it was clean enough to cut. It felt strange how nobody heard from Ash Winters or knew his whereabouts— although it was better for us, curiosity took the best part of me. I needed to know. Subconsciously, the knife sliced off a piece of flesh from my finger. I winced, my senses returning to reality. “Shit,” I cursed, going to the sink to wash off the blood and knife. “I just wanted to make something for Owen,” I whimpered, turning on the tap. Just as I turned it off, a sharp crash came from the sitting room, followed by the scrape of something heavy dragging across the floor. My feet stuck to the fl

AMELIA XAVIER A sudden silence had taken over the room, and only my rasp breathing was heard. Owen stared blankly at me which wasn't at all helping matters, and my inner self tried to calm me down.“Pumpkin…” daddy started, and one glance at Owen told me he wasn't very happy about the name. “He calls you pumpkin too?” He asked in disbelief, but I shrugged trying to focus on the conversation with father. “Daddy, surprised you remembered your only daughter… except you have someone else,” I crooned which turned out very flat — goddamned tones. Father chuckled, and I could tell he rolled his eyes. Telling from the tone of his voice in the background, he was at home, that made things easier.“Daring to avert a conversation that hasn't even begun. I must say, sweetheart, you're really a Xavier,” he answered and I bit my lips hard — not too hard that it drew blood.“Which conversation?” I played dumb, he noticed, but didn't tag along. “It's over the news, your encounter with the Win

AMELIA XAVIER I sat beside Owen's bed carefully watching his chest as it rose and fell, his eyes were closed, and his face looked so peaceful. I gazed at the beautiful curve of his lips, and the sharp jawline that attracted more men and women to him. Owen was like a magnet who blended with everyone, and in any style. Days passed since the party, and although the doctor said he was in good health, I felt terrible because this foolish man seeking death hadn't opened his eyes in all those days; his breathing seemed pretty normal, his wounds were healing, and for God's sake, his face was handsomer. My eyes went to his closed eyes, and I muttered something under my breath — something that sounded like a curse word. His lashes suddenly fluttered, making me aware of his body language. Owen let out a groan as his fingers twitched, and that was enough to get me excited. A smile played at the end of my lips, my eyes glowed with expectancy, and when his eyes flew open, I grinned from ea

AMELIA XAVIER There was always that moment when a person couldn't hold back especially after watching in horror as something so painful displayed, but instead of disbelief or sorrow clouding her, fury came. How dare Ash Winters hurt the one person I cared so much about? I watched him as he placed his filthy hands on the dagger stuck at Owen's back ready to pull and cause him a painful and slow gory death, then it came — that burning rage. I ran towards him, and using Owen's pistol, I struck the back of his head, sure that it made an impact — and by God, it did because bright red blood trickled from his hair down to his neck. I smirked.“You don't have the right to kill him. I'm the one who's meant to do that, you bastard!” I screamed, my face red with a different kind of anger… a murderous kind of anger. Ash turned to me, a smile played on his blood dried lips. He chuckled probably at the thought that a mere woman — a pregnant woman slammed him with a pistol. My expression re
