CHAPTER 2

Nicole

I stared out of the window of the plane and smiled to myself when the first glimpse of Chicago came into view.

Home

Its been too long that I came back home again. After 4 years in the UK, and having my life monitored during the days of those 4 years, I finally came back to the place where I can be myself again and do whatever I want in my life.

Let me give you a quick recap of my life.

I just graduated college a few weeks ago, and just turned 22 last week. I'm an only child and I lost my mom when I was only 6. Don't start pitying me cos we all know shit happens in life that hurts people like a motherfucker.

Anyways, since it was just me and my dad, right after I graduated college, he decided to ship me off to UK to start my life afresh and go to some random college I want there.

Now you might be wondering why he sent me off there, well let me enlighten you. Since I mentioned before that I was the only child, I did take advantage of that sometimes.

How? Well let's just say that I wasn't easy to be dealt with. High school was a bitch, and I always treated it as my own version of hell.

I'm basically saying, that I was a trouble teen back in my teenager days. We've all had our moments right?

So I spent the next four years of my life there while living in a penthouse of my own, perks for having a father that runs of the most popular business in Chicago. But I wasn't on my own though, I lived with Matt, my dad's right hand man and trusted friend and with sheila, my personal housekeeper and a great mother figure.

It was hard at first, but I quickly adapted to the life I have there. Another part of the reason why I was sent there, was because some of my dad's business rivals that are willing to take down my father's business are also willing to end me.

I still don't get why they're after my dads business, I mean, my father runs one of the best companies that deals with real estate kind of stuff. So is that all they're after?

Moving on, I had a few friends and even had a few flings with some of the typical college guys and lets just say that my life there, was not that bad as I thought.

But I missed my old self. I missed Chicago. I missed home and mostly, I missed my dad.

We had an argument that lasted for a week about me coming back home and it turned from bad to worst.

Dad was just worried about me coming back to Chicago because he's been upgrading things in his business and he's afraid that he wont be able to spend more time with me. His words not mine.

I on the other hand, thinks its totally fine. Its not like I was planning to be back just to be spending every minute of my day with him, I still have a life on my own yenno?

Since I just finished college, I'm supposed to be getting a job. I have nothing to worry about because dad could just let me be an intern or something in his company. But I'm not desperate to start working immediately either.

I missed out a lot of fun in my old life and now I'm back to have some more fun and enjoy a few weeks by myself and then I'll worry about starting a job later.

Well that pretty much sums up everything that has been happening in my life. The pilots voice informed us about fastening our seatbelts to prepare for landing.

A rush of excitement surged through me and I glanced out the window and noticed that the plane had landed.

After we've been informed once again that we've finally reached Chicago and now we can get off the plane, I quickly jumped up from my seat and grabbed my handbag and started walking out.

Sunlight greeted me as I exited the planes doorway and I inhaled deeply as a fresh breeze enveloped me.

Home sweet home

I went through all that security shit that always happens at the airport and finally retrieved my midnight blue suitcase from the luggage area.

As I started walking out of the arrival area and glanced around the checking in area, a weird feeling jolted through me but I ignored it as always.

Since my father said that he's sending few people over to get me, I looked at where a crowd of people are standing with big cards in their hands that has people's name written on it.

I pushed my sunglass at the top of my head while frowning as I scanned for someone that has my name on it.

I sighed in relief, when I saw a guy running up to join the crowd of people with a card on his hand that has my name on it.

I made my way towards him and he immediately grabbed my suitcase from me without asking to confirm that its really me.

That's weird

I followed him out of the airport and kept following him to the parking lot right to a corner with a few black minivans are parked.

I quickly glanced around me. I thought a BMW or something will come pick me up instead of black minivans that looks like in the movies where they used them for kidnapping children from the road.

"Hey, um are you sure that's my ride?" I asked the guy that was walking in front of me and he glanced over his shoulder at me without saying anything.

"Excuse me! I'm asking you something!" I stopped walking but he kept going with my suitcase being dragged behind.

"You know what? This is ridiculous. I'm calling my father right now and ask him myself." I reached inside my handbag to grab my phone, when the doors of the minivans slides open and a few guys with masks on their faces and guns in their hands jumped out while pointing their guns at me.

What the fuck?!

I stepped back by being startled while my hand was still inside my handbag but my eyes are taking in the amount of people that are surrounding me, and holding me captive at gunpoint.

"Take your hand out of the bag and dropped it on the ground." The first guy in front of me ordered while stepping in front of me.

"What the hell is going on here? If you guys think this is funny, I'm gonna get all your asses fired by today!" I yelled back.

"Drop. The. Bag!" He said in a dangerous low voice.

"Whose idea was this? If you're all thinking this is a good idea of a grand welcome back home, you're all fucked!"

"Just dropped it!" I immediately let go of my handbag till it dropped on the ground, it's contents spewing out of the bag. The guy kicked it towards him and handed it back to some guy at the back of him.

"Now get in." Before I could protest, he grabbed my hand and pushed me inside the minivan while sliding its door closed in my face.

Realization finally hits me once I glanced at the guys sitting in front of me.

"Who are you?! Why are-" My sentence was cut off when he slammed his gun down on my face.

"Bitch you talk too much!" A deep grumpy voice yelled at me.

I clutched my bloody nose and winced in pain when I saw my fingers coated with blood. I also tasted the metallic tang of blood in my mouth.

"What-" I tried to say again but I felt a sharp point of a needle on my neck before I could process what's happening.

Black dots started dancing in front of my eyes and then darkness enveloped me. I didn't realize, that was gonna be the last day in my life that I would ever be normal again or go back to my old self.
