Broken Promises

Emma had been an early riser all her life, usually waking up around six or seven in the morning. However, it wasn't her fault that she couldn't sleep well in his presence.

Dragging her feet into the shower, she washed all the sins of last night once again, wore a nice knee-length dress and covered her neck with a silk scarf to hide the hickies he left on her.

With slow steps, she walked out of the room and descended the stairs. The mansion was royally adorned and insanely huge, leaving her wondering how many people lived there besides the army of maids and servants who greeted her with the utmost reverence.

Amanda offered to show her around which Emma didn't refuse as she didn't want to be alone and let depressing thoughts consume her.

"Does he live alone?" Emma asked and Amanda nodded her head.

"Yes ma'am. His father passed away a few years back. And Mrs Smith lives abroad," said Amanda and Emma nodded. She didn't ask anything further.

this is a really really good book, but we know she's upset & in dispar, but saying it in every other sentence is getting old. we know she's upset this book would go smoother if we didn't read that ALL the time! Again it's a really good book & I can't wait to see what happens..
