SIX

"No. I mean yes...." Oh God how would she explain to them, shooting Nick a glare did he seriously have to bring the accident up in front of other people, couldn't he have approached her like a normal person and settled it amicably. She would have taken responsibility.

"Nick what the hell are you talking about?" Said Donnie with a raised eyebrow.

"Well she did run me over with her car three days ago, Donnie you asked me how I got this, didn't you" Nick said pointing at the bandaid above his eyebrow.

Oh boy! It really was the nut job in the grey hoodie she thought. "I think there's been a misunderstanding, why don't we allow Kim to explain herself" Tom said eyeing her, He had always been the serious one among her employees, if you had a problem Tom would find a logical explanation and solution for it, if he wasn't a lawyer he would have been a detective.

Feeling stuck and frustrated Kim let out a nervous laugh, so she was the culprit who should be sued, tried and jailed she mused, what irony. "Funny story, I did run a man over but I swear I had no idea you were the one. I didn't get a good look at your face, I mean his face.....and....and" Suddenly feeling angry she took a deep breath she might just as well lose the contract but she couldn't stand the corcky look on Nick's face, it's no wonder he wouldn't stop staring at her when he first entered. "You know if you hadn't been so sturbborn about going to the hospital we would have settled this like civilized people and then to make matters worse your rude ass had to disappear just when I wasn't looking, do you have any idea how guilty I felt when I couldn't find you? Forget that, do you have any idea how I looked explaining to the police officers that I had ran a guy over whose face I couldn't describe because I didn't know what he looked like? They thought I was making things up" Sweating and out of breath she could only shoot lasers at the cause of her current conditon and hope it burnt holes in the middle of his forehead.

"Rude ass?" Nick gritted out glaring at her.

"Okay I know it's not a good time but I gotta ask, is any of the problems you have with each other going to affect the contract we just sighned?" Charlie asked making everyone look at him.

"Really Charlie? Really?" Kim said.

"What? It's a big deal for us".

"I can assure you that it won't. We approached you because of your good reputation so whatever problems these two may have, wont't interfare with our businees. Isn't that right Nick?".

Rolling his eyes Nick muttered something under his breath then smiled. "Of course Donnie, Miss Blake and I can sort out our differences and make sure it doesn't affect our working relationship" Oh so now it's Miss Blake huh? Kim thought. Nick's reply was a scowl.

"Shit did I say that out loud?".

"Yes you did honey, loud and clear" Blushing, Kim averted his gaze cursing her mouth for not knowing when to shut up.

"Listen why don't we all just go out for lunch, it's past noon" Donnie offered.

"Of course I think that's a good idea" Charlie was saying but a jab at his side from Brit quited him.

"We're going to have to take a rain check on that, we have quite a load of work back at the office, right Charlie?" She said giving him a straight look, daring him to contradict her.

"Yeah, yes how could I forget" He said quickly with a nervous laugh. Geez the woman was scary, beautifully scary.

"Oh in that case some other time yeah?" Donnie said smiling at Brit.

"Oh sure" She replied, something passed between the both of them but they chose to ignore it.

Glancing at his friend, Donnie was beyond curious but knowing how Nick was he decided to ignore his curiousity. "Nick, shall we?".

Without taking his eyes off an embarrassed Kim he said "You go ahead Miss Blake and I have somethings to clear up" Shrugging Donnie whispered in Nick's ear which had him chuckling.

Kim watched as Donnie led the others out but not before giving her a look of pity when it was just the both of them in the room Nick went to stand directly in front of Kim his chest almost touching her face, startled she took a step back, he was too close for comfort she could smell his cologne, sandalwood with a hint of mint and pure male, so delicious she thought and almost licked her lips.

"Take a picture Blake, it will last longer but if you keep staring at my face like that you just might wear it out".

Schooling her look before she made a fool of herself. She snorted "I wasn't looking at you. I was thinking and when I'm deep in thoughts I tend to stare closely at any random spot".

"Sure this time your random spot just so happen to be my face".

She flushed at his comment. "Enough okay just stop it already".

"Fine. How about that dinner?". Confused, one minute he was mocking her and the next he was asking her out to dinner, what extacly was the man's deal.

"How about a trip to the police station?" She had meant that as a sassy comeback but obvioulsy he didn't get it. His next reply confirmed it.

"Already took care of it. After the accident I called the police station and resolved everything, told them you worked for me".

She rolled her eyes. "Wait, did you already know who I was?".

"No, but I thought you looked familair, imagine my shock when I realized who you were. I looked forward to this meeting with glee".

"Yeah you did which was why you arrived almost fifteen minutes late" The scowl was back on his face it was like the man couldn't make any other facial expressions.

"I was caught up with something" He couldn't as well tell her he had lost track of time because he had been consumed by the thoughts of her. Damn her. Even now as she stood in front of him he was engulfed by her scent, vanilla and a fruity mix so sweet he could almost taste it. The moment he walked into the room and had seen her in the snug skirt that showed off her volumptous hips and even though she wore hose under it he could tell her legs would be smooth and soft, he lost all train of thoughts, the shirt she wore wasn't buttoned up exposing her slender throat and the matching suit gave her the look of the sexy office nymph.

She wasn't exatly his type, she was a little too short for his liking maybe five-four and too curvy, she had a straight small nose and a full pink pouty lips that begged to be kissed and she looked like the commitment kind of person, commitment wasn't his strongest suit that was why he always stuck with the pretty models they knew what he wanted and vice versa, they didn't have to expect anything from him and vice versa it was a simple deal. The best thing about it was they were easy to dispose of, he buys them a couple of expensive trinkets and case closed but a woman like Kimberly Blake didn't seem like the type you could easily dispose of, she was trouble with the letter 'T' so why the hell couldn't he stop thinking about her but one thing was for sure, it wasn't one of those love at first sight corny shit.

"Can I ask you a question" She said giving him a pointed look, his only reply was a shrug. "Why did you run away? If you were someone else I would have thought you were a shady person and was trying to hide from something".

"More like someone" He said under his breath, he needed to take care of the Sammy whatever her name was business if not he'd go crazy it's gotten to the point where he peeps out of his car before going into his own home, he felt like a creep.

"Who?" Kim asked with narrowed eyes.

"A stalker"

"You've got a stalker?" She said in disbelief. "The great and mighty Nick Stone was playing Tom and Jerry with a stalker? Wow you have a fun life" She finished, chuckling.

He glared but couldn't help but admire her smile, sweet Jesus he was becoming a besotted fool. "It's complicated".

"How complicated?".

Hesitating a little he said. "She used to be my uhmm_".
