CHAPTER ONE

''A chance to relive the fun part of highschool, meet old friends and aquintances and to relive the story of being a student of VPA. Vincent Patrick Academy hereby invites you to their 8th annual reunion. A world left behind is waiting to be relived for a night''.

Kim stared at the invitation of blue and white in horror. No No No this could't be happening to her, not after all these years. Judging from her expression one would think she was one of those students whose highschool experience had been a nightmare except it wasn't. She had been a straight A's student who was loved by all the teachers, hell she had been a cheerleader, she even dated the school's famous star quaterback. Highschool had been some of the best days of her life, that was of course before two of the people she trusted most in her life betrayed her in the most disgusting way, that too, on her birthday.

The card was plucked out of her hands snapping her out of her thoughts.''Hey!''.

''School reunion huh'' Sam said studying the card. ''You should totally go''.

''Give that back sam'' Kim said glaring at her cousin. Sam like all the Blake women had the usual red hair and grey eyes, except she was prettier with her porcelain skin and the figure of a Victoria secret model. Kim unlike her cousin wasn't built like a barbie doll with legs that went all the way to their eyeballs. She had hips that made her wary of wearing skirts, and boobs that weren't too big or too small but just enough to turn a couple of male heads, if there's one thing she was thankful for it's the normal redhead freckle curse that she somehow escaped.

Sam thrust the card back to her, taking a seat beside her on the couch. ''So are you going?''.

''Do me a favor and mind your business'' Kim said moving away from her cousin.

''Awww come on Kimmy, you know I can't mind my business I'm just not good at it, and besides I think you should really go''.

''As you already know Sammy'' She said stressing the words to annoy Sam. ''I'm not exactly a big fan of what you think and I'm not going anywhere''. Kim and Sam had always been close since they were kids their parents always said it was because they were always at each other's throats and because they were more alike in more ways than one. To Kim, Sam was the only person she knew would never lie to her even if the truth was bittter, Sam was a very honest person which is why Kim loved her even more and even though Sam wanted people to think otherwise, she was a good person.

''I can hear the wheels in that dumb head of yours turning Kimmy, you don't want to go because of.....''.

''Don't say it'' Kim said cutting her off. ''I'm not having this conversation with you Sam, I'm not going because it's going to be lame I mean seriously you could tell by just reading the damned invitation, what kind of moron composed it. Sheesh''.

Sam gave her a pointed look and continued as if she hadn't said a word. ''Because of Lane and Jane''.

''Dang it Sam! Serioulsy? That was eight years ago and if you haven't noticed, I'm no longer eighteen. That incident was in the past and I'm totally over it'' If thunder really did strike liars, Kim would be a pile of ashes on the floor right there.

''Really?'' Sam asked not fooled by her cousin's denial for a second. Her cousin may be good at everything but she was a bad liar, she had a habit of looking sick everytime she told a lie.

''Yeah really'' Kim said giving Sam a dirty look.

''Then prove it''.

Warning bells went off in Kim's head, narrowing her eyes at Sam, she said. ''Excuse me?''.

''Prove you're over what happened eight years ago and go to this reunion'' There it was, the ultimate bait.

''I'm not falling for that Sam, it's the oldest trick in the book''. She said flicking her hair over her shoulder as an act of indefference.

Sam saw through it. ''Ok''.

Taken aback by her cousin's quick acceptance Kim narrowed her eyes at her growing suspicious. ''That's it?''.

''Yeah'' Sam said making a show of checking her perfectly painted nails with a conviction that didn't fool Kim. ''I can't force you to do something you don't want to and beside it's not all of them that are going to show up anyway''.

''Yeah''.

''You know what? I don't think you should go'' Said sam with a sigh, Kim raised her eyebrow in askance, why would she change her mind so fast? Something was definitely fishy. ''I mean just because you could prove to those two chuckle heads that you are over their betrayal and also to prove to the whole town that you hadn't left because of Lane and Jane by totally going doesn't mean......''.

''Is this your lame attempt at reverse psychology?''.

''No of course not.....is it working?. Kim thought her cousin had finally lost her mind but she couldn't help the bubble of laughter that rose up in her chest.

''No''She said still laughing.

''Well, I tried'' Sam said standing up to leave.

''Sam, did my mom put you up to this? I thought after all these years and everything she's done to make me come back she'd finally give up''.

Sam shrugged. ''Aunt Tasha has always been a never say never person, but no, she didn't. I just thought that perhaps you miss home, we did have the best time of our lives growing up didn't we?'' She said with a fond smile that lit up her face. ''You've stayed away for far too long sister, don't you think it's about time you come back home? And who knows, it just might be a homecoming that may spice up your boring life. Love you''.

Kim watched as her cousin sauntered out of her office and thought about her parting words, because Sam was right about something, she did miss home, a lot.

Lovers's valley was a small town in backwood California where Kim had grown up, everybody knew everybody there and the people of lover's valley made it a habit to be in each other's business, if you had a secret the town was definitely not the place for you, but for Kim, it was home, the home she hadn't been to in eight years. She often saw her parents on occassions like Christmas which was only possible because she had promised to always buy their plane ticket whenever they came to New York, although they never missed any opportunity to haggle her into coming back. After kim had left eight years ago for college she couldn't bring herself to go back to lover's valley, the place held too many memories, especially one she would go to the depths of hell to forget and not only that, she just couldn't stand the look of pity the town's people always gave her.

Kim toyed with the card in her hands, twirling it back and forth between her fingers. Sam was right, it's about damn time she went back home, with her mind made up she picked up her phone and smiled. ''You win mom''.

''Sir this just came in for you''.

Nick looked up from the pile of files he had been reading to stare at his secretary. ''What did I say about not disturbing me James? You write everything I say down but you never bother doing them. I should really just fire you'' He let out a frustrated sigh, if only his ever so competent secretary wasn't getting married.

''I...I...I...'' The boy stammered sweating under the scrutiny of his temperamental boss.

''What is it'' Nick snapped.

''I'm sorry sir''. Shaking his head, Nick gestured for him to continue. ''It's a mail, an invitation sort of''.

''What does it say?''.

''It's an invitation to a highschool reunion, from VPA''.

''Throw it away or something, just get rid of it''.

''Yes sir'' Nick watched as the boy rushed out of his office as if he couldn't get away from him fast enough.
