LOGINArielle's POV
When I woke up, Victor wasn't on the bed.
I got up slowly, still feeling the ache in my lower abdomen from last night. I hadn't showered after, I still smelled like Victor’s strong cologne and sex.
Memories from last night rushed through my head, fuck! I had to admit that Victor did things to me that David would have never done. Last night was heated, I didn’t know if I wanted more or not.
I ran the bath water hotter than usual. I stood under it longer than I needed to, letting the heat work into my skin. My hands caressed my nipple, and rose to my neck where Victor had bit me. Just the thought was enough to make me wet.
I walked to the living room. He was standing at the counter, stirring coffee. His back was to me. He wore a dark shirt, sleeves rolled up. Revealing his veiny arms.
"Morning," I said.
"Morning." He nodded without turning around, then set a second cup on the table.
I sat down. Neither of us said anything about last night. That was fine by me. I wasn't ready to go there and I got the feeling he wasn't either. I reached for the cup and took a sip.
The knock on the door broke the silence.
Victor pushed off from the counter. "I'll get it."
I sat back. It was probably a delivery. I turned and looked out the window, the fine petals of tulips outside was enough as a sight. I didn’t know Victor liked flowers – there was almost nothing I knew about him, and knowing that made yesterday night only more dangerous.
The delivery guy was taking too long.
I stood up and walked toward the door, then paused when I heard the oddly familiar voice.
"My girlfriend is in there. Arielle Hunt that's her name. I've explained this to you and you are still wasting my time."
"Your girlfriend?" Victor's voice was flat. "Who gave you that information?"
My heart dropped.
David.
He stood in the doorway in a white shirt and black pants, jaw tight, eyes already scanning past Victor's shoulder. I stepped forward before either of them could say another word.
"David." My voice came out smaller than I wanted. "What are you doing here?"
"Thank God." His face shifted. Relief obviously flooding in from his face. He reached for my hands, held it tight. "Arielle, are you okay? Did he hurt you?"
"No." I shook my head and glanced at Victor then back at David. "I'm totally fine."
"Come back home, Ari." His voice softened in that way that I was already used to. "Your dad really misses you. He unfroze your accounts. Your cards will work now. He wants to see you."
He paused and looked past me at Victor.
"Who is he?"
"He's… just my neighbour." I kept my voice even. "I got thrown out of my apartment and begged him to take me in for some nights. He means no harm."
David stared at me and then him. With that particular stare he had that wasn't quite anger and wasn't quite suspicion but sat somewhere uncomfortable between both. He'd had years of practice making me feel like I owed him an explanation I hadn't prepared. I wiped invisible drop of sweat off my head and put my hand on my waist while holding his gaze .
"Let me go get my things."
He nodded in reply.
I went back into the bedroom and threw everything into my suitcase without folding any of it. I did a quick sweep of the bathroom, grabbed my charger, checked under the bed. My heart was pounding harder than normal. My head was too loud to be thorough about it.
When I came back out David was still at the entrance, one hand in his pocket, watching Victor the way men watched each other when they were pretending not to. Victor stood with an expressionless face, arms loose at his sides. Like nothing that had happened in this apartment would ever show on his face.
I looked at him.
He looked back at me.
I bit my lip nervously. Neither of us said anything. There was nothing to say. Not with David standing three feet away, But something passed between us anyway. It had nothing to do with one night and champagne and a silly roleplay game. It was something heavier. Like it had been sitting there since the morning I stood in the courtyard with my hand stretched out and he'd looked at me like I was a problem he didn't need.
I dropped my eyes first.
"Thank you," I said quietly. Like I was thanking a stranger for holding a door open.
He nodded once.
I picked up my suitcase and walked out.
David took it from my hand the moment I walked through the door, already steering me toward the stairs with a hand at the middle of my back. He said something about my father, something about the drive, something about stopping to get food. I heard the words without really listening. My feet moved. My hand held the strap of my bag.
I told myself I wasn't going to look back.
But at the bottom of the stairwell I looked back. God I couldn’t help it.
But it seemed that Victor didn’t think the same way I did as the door was already closed.
I turned around and followed David to the car. He opened the passenger door for me a gesture so practiced it meant nothing and I slid in. He walked around, settled in, and started the engine.
"I'm glad you're okay," he said, pulling out.
"Yeah." I nodded turning to the window. "Me too."
The apartment block got smaller in the side mirror as we drove. I watched it until we turned the corner and it was gone.
My neck was still tingling where Victor's teeth had been. My heart still beat when I remembered his breath there.
David reached over and put his hand on mine.
I didn't pull away. I just didn't squeeze back either. I only sat there his hand on mine, Victor's mark on my neck and said nothing for the rest of the drive home.
Victor's POV "We are lifting your banishment, Victor." Elder Marcus said before a low vibrating sound filled the room. He immediately excused himself and exited the room. I could tell his subordinates were not pleased with the abruptiveness of this action. But the meeting went on. I do wonder though, the kind of emergency that would make someone like Marcus leave an important meeting like this. "The council has decided that your years in exile have served as penance for the blood on your hands," Elder Helena continued. Her eyes remained sharp and cold, lacking even a shred of the grace her words implied. "You are free to walk pack grounds. You are, once again, a member of the Bloodclaw clan." "And my title?" The question slipped out before I could stop it. Rowan let out a dry, mocking chuckle from the corner. "You lost the right to the Alpha seat the moment you let your wolf rip open a human throat, Victor. The Moon Goddess herself turned her back on you. Michael remains A
Arielle's POVI was running in a forest and right beside me ran a massive wolf. His fur was as black as the night sky, but it was his eyes that caught my attention. They were a striking, bright electric blue. I would recognize those eyes anywhere.Victor.We ran side by side, our fur brushing against each other. A deep, natural heat started to build between us that had nothing to do with the chilly night air. When he slowed down, turning his massive head toward me, the intensity in those blue eyes made my breath hitch. He leaned in close, gently rubbing his nose against the side of my neck. His hot breath bloomed against my fur. A low, rumbling purr vibrated deep in his chest, sending a fierce, electric shock straight down my spine. It felt incredibly close, raw, and completely overwhelming. He pressed nearer, his heavy weight gently pinning me down to the forest floor. As his muzzle stroked against mine, the sheer intensity of the moment made me throw my head back, a soft purr
Victor’s POV Harrison Hunt could not stop staring. The creature lying on the floor of the hallway was a wolf. There was no denying the reality of it. Its silver gray fur shone under the bright chandelier lights. The wolf looked weak, and helpless. But Harrison could not forget what wolves meant to him. For years, he had hated them with a passion. He blamed them for taking his wife away. He had promised himself that if he ever saw a wolf again, he would shoot it without hesitating. Now, one was lying right in front of him. And it was his own daughter. The realization felt like a sharp knife twisting inside his chest. "Sir?" One of the bodyguards gripped his gun tighter, his knuckles turning white. "What should we do?" The sound of the guard preparing his weapon broke Harrison's trance. He swallowed hard, his throat dry. He was still terrified and completely confused, but nothing could change the truth. That wolf was Arielle. He had watched the horrific change hap
Victor's POV The moment I saw the pack grounds, a familiar weight settled in my chest. Home. I hadn't called it that in years. The last time I stood here, I was no longer Alpha, no longer a leader, just a man who had failed. One of the three guards walked ahead of me while the other two walked beside me. They seemed to be new. If they recognized me as their former Alpha, they did well not to show it. We passed through the training grounds, which were as full as I remembered with wolves both male and female, eager to prove themselves. Multiple eyes followed us as we walked by. IlI could hear whispers of surprise, confusion, and dare I say, excitement. Was that just my hope, though? The patrol towers still stood at the edges of the territory, and the pack house remained exactly where I remembered. For a moment, memories threatened to surface. I shoved them down; there was no point looking backward. We passed by many people. Some I remembered, some I didn't, but no one s
Arielle's POV I couldn't stop thinking about what Stella had said.I think you need to go see Victor. Right now.I sat on the edge of my bed staring at the wall.Could she be thinking that I...I was turning into what Victor was?Was that even possible? And if it were, how did I turn? These were questions Victor could answer. He would know what was wrong with me.I grabbed my jacket and headed downstairs.I almost made it to the front door before Martha spotted me."Going somewhere, dear?"Forcing a smile, I replied, "Just getting some air."The old woman narrowed her eyes. Clearly she didn't believe me, but thankfully she didn't stop me.A few minutes later I was in my car heading toward the police station. The closer I got, the stranger I felt. My pulse kept speeding up. My palms were sweating.I couldn't deny that seeing him again was something I'd been looking forward to.The realization annoyed me."Get a grip, Arielle. You're only going there to ask questions, not spend the nigh
VICTOR’S POVThe concrete floor of the holding cell was freezing, but I barely felt it.I sat with my back pressed against the stained wall, my wrists loosely bound by heavy steel handcuffs. The noise of the police station. Phones ringing, distant shouting, the rhythmic clacking of a typewriter were supposed to be deafening, but to me, it was just background noise. My mind was entirely occupied by the haunting image of Arielle’s face. The last time I saw her was a blur of flashing red and blue lights. The look she gave me before the car door slammed shut was permanently burned into my mind. She looked worn out from the trauma of her abduction, but hurting even more from the disappointment of the truth. That I killed her mother.A heavy wave of guilt wrapped around my chest, making it hard to breathe. I closed my eyes, the memory of that horrific night flashing behind my eyelids. The weight of Selene's blood on my hands was a curse I carried willingly, but seeing that same horror
Arielle’s POV I woke up feeling like I'd been hit by a truck.Every part of my body hurt.I groaned and slowly opened my eyes, staring at the ceiling above my bed. For a moment, I couldn't remember what had happened. Then, flashes came rushing back.Golden eyes. Pain. So much pain. It felt like my
Arielle’s POVThe warehouse stayed painfully silent. Even the officers looked confused. My father kept staring at Victor with pure hatred in his eyes.Like he had waited years for this exact moment.I looked toward Victor so fast my neck hurt.“What?”Victor said nothing. And somehow his silence hu
Victor's POV I grabbed my jacket and car keys and immediately left my apartment. Every fucking second felt too slow. By the time I got into my car, my wolf was already clawing violently inside me. Find her. I gritted my teeth and sped out of the parking lot. The city lights blurred past as I
Arielle's POV The cloth tied around my wrists was starting to burn against my skin. I shifted slightly in the backseat and tried to loosen my hands again, but it was useless. The man beside me immediately grabbed my arm harder. “Sit still.” I glared at him, unable to say anything since my mout
