KHALID

Father’s face was sullen when I entered the throne room, and when I greeted him, he didn’t respond. Three of our pack chiefs were speaking with him, but they all left as soon as I arrived. They greeted me with smiles, and I had a feeling Father had told them earlier to leave once I came in.

Mother wasn’t at his side, neither were the guards. It was just the two of us.

“I’m sorry, Father,” I said stiffly since he wasn’t planning to speak first. I stood in the middle of the room.

“You walked out on me—in an important meeting at that,” he said, voice flat, like I didn’t already know that.

“What are you up to, Khalid? How can I be sure the future of this pack will be safe in your hands once my time here is done? You have strength, and you command both fear and respect—but you lack the willpower of an Alpha.”

I didn’t respond.

“You remember the Hunter Pack? Their heir held a ceremony for his mate yesterday. Alpha Creed has stepped down and made him Alpha—as his first and only son.

  • HOW TO KILL THE OMEGA LUNA   Chapter 24

MIALevi carried me to the car. He didn't touch me roughly or rush like I stank and he wanted to drop me as soon as possible, so I was at least grateful for that. I wouldn't have allowed him to do it if I could move. But I was so paralyzed I couldn't even open my mouth. He opened the backseat of Dilan's car and placed me inside. Goosebumps roughened my skin, leaving me cold and shivering. I tried to move towards the car door to rest my head there but I couldn't.I heard footsteps as somebody else walked to hand Levi something. I managed to look, and saw it was wool and a bandage. He got in the car, placing his sword on his lap. Then he gently rubbed the wool over my neck in silence. It didn't hurt anymore. Nothing hurt anymore. But I wasn’t sure if it had stopped bleeding. When he was done, he threw out the wool and put the bandage over my neck."It's not deep," he spoke for the first time. "And it isn't bleeding again either."I just stared at him. He looked the most self-assured of

MIAAs Alpha Williams walked toward me, sword in hand, all the events that had occurred in my life began to play in my mind. And I just stood still, waiting for it to happen—waiting for the last shoe to drop.He had a relaxed look on his face, as if he were approaching his daughter to say something to her. But I wasn’t his daughter, and the sword in his hands wasn’t for talking.Bell was fighting to make me move, to flee before he got to me—before it was too late. But I wouldn’t be able to run. The doors were shut, and three guards stood in front of them, watching the scene. Maybe trying to escape was pointless. Still, Bell didn’t seem to care—she just wanted to try.But I couldn’t move. The Alpha’s gaze was fixed on the tip of the sword near the throne, as if he wanted it to savor its last moments of cleanliness before my impure blood stained it.“Khalid,” I whispered, though I was sure no one heard me. Both Khalid and Dilan had been frozen in place since I entered the room, and the

MIADifferent sceneries played in my head as the guards dragged me, and my breath caught in my chest when they turned to the passageway that led to the throne room. They were taking me to the Alpha? For what reason? Bell wailed in my head, and her fear made me panic even more. The Alpha must have gotten information that I was here—that I was the Omega who had come to taint his bloodline.I was grateful that Freya had told all the maids to rest in the quarters, because things would have been worse if everyone saw the way I was being handled, as if I was being punished for stealing.Instead, we only passed other guards and palace staff like the gardeners and cooks. None of them paid attention to what was happening—and I knew why. As we passed a group of two guards who were chatting, one of them asked, “You’re going to have fun with this one? Wooh, she really is cute. I haven’t seen her before.”My heart froze, and a new fear gripped my throat. I was well aware that guards usually dragge

MIAI started in the kitchen, washing the remaining dishes since some of them had already been washed. The plates, glasses, and cutlery were more than a hundred in number. I avoided thinking about the heap and simply washed them one by one in the sink. Thinking about how many they were would only slow me down.My last words had angered Freya even more, and she led me to the kitchen immediately, swearing she’d make me taste my own blood if I let anyone help me. Her excuse was that I had been disrespectful to her—and according to her, Nora had witnessed it.Bell was angry that I’d agreed to do all the work, and she kept growing restless as I sponged and rinsed the dishes, arranging them carefully.Nora was at the door. I wasn’t looking at her now, but I knew the pity was still on her face. She had asked to help me more than a hundred times, but I didn’t allow her.“Maybe I could go and beg her. Mia, she was a really good person to the rest of us. That’s why I was delighted when I told y

MIAFreya rose from the bed, anger flashing in her eyes. “I can see you’ve already let it get to your head! When the guards whip you a little, you’ll be sure to return to your senses.”Her eyes locked on mine as she spoke, her voice laced with feigned importance. Apparently, she thought that tone would scare me into begging. I hissed and picked the dress from the bed, Bell’s anger already flooding my veins.I began walking toward the bathroom door when she stepped into my path and shoved me.“Who do you think you are?!”Her push startled me. I nearly fell, but the gown slipped from my hands instead. I tightened my grip on the duvet wrapped around my body before it could fall loose, and stared at her in disbelief.Sweat had plastered some strands of her hair to her forehead, ruining all the effort she’d put into her appearance—brushed hair, unnecessary makeup, that loud red lipstick, and the suffocating floral fragrance that filled the room. She was obviously frustrated. Despite all he
