I arrived in town and headed quickly to Katherine’s store. Emily was sitting next to her, playing with her teddy bears and having the time of her life. As I approached the counter, I leaned on it with a smile on my face and Katherine knew what I wanted.
“I’ll babysit her. Do you need any pointers on how to have a successful date?” she asked, leaning on the counter also to be on my level with a naughty smirk on her face. I chuckled, knowing she was looking forward to seeing Vanessa and me together.
“Are you going to have a date with Miss Vanessa?” Emily asked, a glimmer showing in her eyes.
“Yes, Little Mouse. I have a dinner date with her tonight, so you don’t mind staying with Katherine, do you?”
“Yes! I’m sure we’ll have fun. If you need to stay there until tomorrow, we don’t mind. Right, Kat?”
