CHAPTER 2

I was better prepared for a dream this time; It was not as pleasant as the one I had previously, no this time was more gruesome.

A shadow followed a beautiful woman, with dark curly hair, it looked very natural, With the greenest orbs I have ever seen they would make any emerald shy. and a cheerleader body, she was wearing tennis shoes and a bottle green cardigan that was unbuttoned with a white vest, and a pair of straight-cut light wash blue jeans. She was running from it in a sweat, her heart racing in fear. she knew the shadow was following her, she could not have been older than 16. Before she could reach her destination the shadow caught up with her own shadow. It seemed as if the two shadows were wrestling and then the girl just slumped down, face ashen as if she had died weeks ago.

I knew this was New Orleans because there was loud Jazz music, the way the streets were set up with that homey feeling, and the culture was so engulfing, I went to look up when the New Orleans Jazz festival was months ago because I told myself, even if I go alone this is the year that I attend that Jazz festival. I would rather do that than Coachella. Now my Duffel is packed, my plane ticket is booked, and I have to ask my grandfather to drop me off at the Inverness Airport as it is a lovely 30-minute drive from Loch Ness Scotland. Of Course, I can take a bus or a train but I have a feeling to treasure every second I can with Shennar as much as I can.

I told him about my dream while we had our breakfast. He understands my urgency and does not try to keep me here, I am shocked but not surprised by this. So we got into his SEAT Tarraco, I did in fact pack the rest of the journals in my carry one along with the ring, the dagger I had no choice but to leave behind in the box, locked once more.

Let me say this; I am not a morning person, my flight was booked for 6H25 AM Which means Shennar and I have been up since 3.30 a.m., not fun at all.

To add to my grumpiness, I have two overlays, one in Layover at Amsterdam Schiphol for 1 hr 35 min, and another in Atlanta for 2 hrs 20 min. So If I sleep now I will have to wake up in four hours and be the most horrible person known to mankind or I can stay awake and get six hours of sleep on the second overlay... Decisions, decisions.

Seeing as the Inverness Airport only opened in February this year, I must tell you that I am impressed at the convenience of how it was built. Say if you took a train to the airport, you can take a 15-minute walk to the terminal or you can take a bus from the train to the terminal, no they are in fact not shuttles but actual public buses, on the same plot. To add some more convenience, if whoever dropped you off happened to have an electric car, they can wait for your bus while charging their car. worth £1583,35.

"Thank you for dropping me off at the airport Shennar, you really did not have to get up so early. I would have been fine taking the bus." He looks at me doubtfully, I can see the tiredness in his eyes. The man left his bed to ensure I ate before I left the house, if that is not love then I have no idea what is.

"It's my pleasure princess, now go on and behave yourself, please? Look after yourself, I would prefer you home in one piece."

One last hug and I swing my duffel over my shoulder with my carry-on already resting on my back.

I also found a blank journal in the box, on the first page it is written that the journal is for whoever is next in line to continue on with the record keeping and that is how I know the journal's content was not hidden by a spell.

As I board the flight and get into my seat, I take out the journal as soon as the flight takes off and I know for a fact I will not have a passenger pal. I begin my first journal entry.

April 26h 2023

In the beginning, there was a world unlike any other. It was a world of magic and mystery, of beauty and terror, a world where anything could happen and anyone could achieve greatness. But as with all great things, there came a time when the balance was upset and the forces of darkness threatened to engulf all that was good and pure.

This is the story of that world and the people who fought to save it. It is a tale of heroes and villains, of love and loss, of triumph and tragedy. It is a tale of hope and despair, of courage and cowardice, of secrets and revelations.

And it is a tale that begins with a single soul. One who was once a mere mortal, but who has been given a gift beyond measure. A gift that will change their life forever, and set them on a path towards their destiny.

This is the story of that gift and the person who wields it. This is the story of a world in crisis, and the choices that must be made to save it. This is the story of a journey and the friends and enemies that will be made along the way.

This is the story of the hero.

Scarlette Helle.

Okay, see? I knew this was all too easy. The journal came along with an old-ass look, and it was more the pen wielding my hand than the other way around. Don't get me wrong those words are exactly what I wanted to write but not in that manner, I sound like I was born later than my soul would have liked....

Now if you're wondering how I am taking this all so well if I only just found out what I was and in a rip the band-aid off kind of way, I am not okay however, my mind has this lovely thing where it processes things after the fact. It is accompanied by cluster headaches or migraines that last for days but I've grown accustomed to my brain's way of compartmentalizing things.

I've also had previous dreams about myself, not looking like me at all. I chalked it up to all the supernatural series I have been binging on Apple TV and N*****x. Strange that Shennar never brought out the box until now.

You might not be surprised by this but, I've never set foot outside of the little town we live in. This is the first time I am seeing the rest of my country and traveling abroad all at once, very overwhelming I tell you but I have to keep my cool and prioritize.
