039 The Rejection

Raven slept through the next three days with a fever so high that the pact was certain they needed a new Alpha yet again.

He saw his parents' bodies soked in blood, clawing their throat in the excruciating pain in silence, protecting their only son; he saw his father shaking hands with rogues before Knight's pack was burned to the ground in horrifying screams; and he saw Knight, crawling on the ground with his legs broken, and his eyes filled with the flames of revenge.

The last image burned Raven's eyes when little Knight's broken legs overlapped with the grown-up Knight.

He jerked up in his own bed in the middle of the night, soked in a cold sweat.

"Alpha, you are awake!" Elena burst into happy tears before she threw herself into Raven before Raven understood what happened.

"You...why are you here?" Raven mumbled, his throat shut dry from the three days' fever.
