Bright and early Monday morning. Was it early? Yes. Was it bright? Not in the slightest.

Mondays are always busy. All the problems left over from Friday are resolved on Monday. For one, I realized that there was a meeting with a client that I was supposed to have on Friday, but I postponed it to Monday. However, when it comes to the beginning of the week, my first stop is always the site.

  • He Drains Me   Surprise, Surprise

We finished at the police station at 11 p.m. We were both emotional and exhausted. A police officer took her statement, as well as her contact details. He informed us that they would contact her when they reached a conclusion on their investigation of the incident. Lucky for us, the incident happened at work, with multiple witnesses. They would contact the witnesses before making an official arrest of the perpetrator. I had to get back home the same night because the following day was work. I just had to make sure she got home safe, so I drove her home. I made her promise she wouldn't go to work the following day. It was really a long day for her, and I couldn't even imagine what she was going through.I got home at around 11:45 p.m., and surprise, surprise, I found Liam at my doorstep. I guess he couldn't have forgotten where I lived. It was only a day ago when he had to drop me off at home. With all that went on with my friend Caitlin, I even forgot all the mess I made at work. For one, I realized that there was a meeting with a client that I was supposed to have on Friday, but I postponed it to Monday. However, when it comes to the beginning of the week, my first stop is always the site.I hadn't even passed by the office. I went straight to the site, blasting "Kissing on my friends" by Marshmello & Inji, as I strategized in my head the work schedule for the week and how effectively we could accomplish these tasks. That's what I love most about my job: planning and seeing my plans come to fruition. It's such a humbling experience because it's not a guarantee that the plan will succeed.I arrived at 8:30, thirty minutes late. I'm always late. Workers had already gathered for our weekly meeting, just waiting on me. Sometimes I do feel bad, but I console myself by remembering that I usu

  • He Drains Me   His World II

"How do you find places like these?"We were in some kind of underground basement club. Well, more like a rave. It was packed with people dancing on the dance floor, couples grinding against each other, strangers having the time of their lives like they had known each other their entire lives. Smoke hung thick in the air, mixing with the heavy bass that vibrated through the concrete walls and into my bones. Bodies pressed together under the flashing red and purple lights. I think I even saw a couple humping each other in a dark corner, completely lost in their own world."I gotta say, I'm really out of place," I said, feeling a little self-conscious and closing up my jacket. A rave doesn't really scream summer dress, like what I wore to meet my cousin for lunch earlier that day. The soft fabric clung to my body in a way that suddenly felt too revealing under the hungry eyes of strangers. We got to the club at around 12a.m, and I immediately went to the bar as my eyes roamed around in

  • He Drains Me   His World

"This is amazing," I exclaimed, fascinated. Cruising through the city on a full moon night is the most beautiful experience, but this comes to a close second. When Liam said he wanted to show me his world, I did not imagine that. I imagined at the very least he would take me to some football match and drink beer, but not that. I was surrounded by beautiful art. How could one person be so creative? The room was designed like a warehouse, probably was a former warehouse, but he turned it into an art studio. He had a combination of acrylic paint and mosaic designs. Personally, I prefer his mosaic work; the blending was so unreal. The walls were covered in his artistic display, excluding the floor-to-ceiling mirrors that reflected perfectly in the center, where he had made it his workplace. He could see himself and his work from all angles, including the ceiling, where the last mirror was located. As I roamed around the room, inspecting each and every painting, I came across one that stoo

  • He Drains Me   Hello, Cousin.

"Hello, cousin," I said as I settled across from my cousin Kayden in a cozy Italian restaurant. As cute as it is, I doubt I will be a regular here; the commute from my place is not worth it. Apparently, it had just opened, and he wanted to try it out. Kayden is my favourite cousin from my father's side. He understands me; I understand him. I have more of a connection with him than any other member of my family. He's an easy-going guy, and he always tries to understand people. "It's been a while," he said as he stood to give me a hug. He's right; it has been a while. It's unfortunate that we don't meet more often. We have no excuse really, because we stay in the same city. We can say it is because of work, busy lives, and both of us just trying to survive, but all that would be excuses, and I know it. I need to be more social."How have you been? How is work?" he asked me. And I am triggered immediately. He knows me. I'm not one to mince my words, so my immediate response doesn't shoc

  • He Drains Me   Dreams and Nightmares

"No, Mr Powell, I cannot approve any measurements apart from the Bill of Quantities that you signed before the beginning of the project. Any new developments would have been notified to you." I had been arguing with the painter for the past ten minutes. He had brought forward claims that there were some areas of the building that were omitted in the original measurements. How he expects me to believe that? I have no idea.As I continued my conversation, standing near my floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking the city, I heard a knock at the door. It was probably my assistant; my office phone had been ringing for some time."Come in, Sheila," I called her in. I will be having meeting after meeting today. That's why I chose a figure-hugging red dress that ends just below the knees, paired with nude stiletto heels and my favourite black trench coat. I love showing my curves; I'm not embarrassed by them anymore. I decided to wear my natural curls in a messy bun. Mother always said, you mus
