LOGINIt was a season that felt like heaven was frowning at her, Tracy, trying to recover from an abusive relationship which eventually crashed while being pulled into the anguish of her dying sister which added a major weight on her life , facing a difficult financial challenge so her life can be saved. It could only get worse , serving as a maid under a rich boss lady, Mrs Ava who has a touch of fierce and unmerciful ideology. Things took a turn just overnight when Mark, the only son of Mrs Ava decided to bite his mom's foot by proclaiming a facade of affection for Tracy out of the blue at a dinner right in her presence and her guests , giving a deep romantic kiss. All this was due to his mom stomping his head by trying to merge him with Chloe in a marriage he doesn't have any interest in. Tracy shocked, the whole table burning in rage and sinking in disappointment, it was meant to be a night where Mark would meet his spouse to be and her family, but he used Tracy as a Decoy to burst the bile in the meat and the whole table was displeased For Tracy, she couldn't believe her eyes as the whole scenario led to further dismaying scenes in her life. Mark proposed a contract marriage with all of her needs being met at the expense of her signature after, and Tracy capitalized. It was a blessing at first, but she isn't prepared for what is coming. An endless warfare of which she was no match for, a marriage likened to a punishment, scandals, block sucking enemies who go all the way for their wants and a life full of discoveries
View MoreDawn broke softly as the gentle glow of the sun’s rays slowly spread across the dark clouds, touching the roof of the Winthrops’ home. In one of the mansion’s rooms, Tracy lay quietly.
“Phone beeps” On her phone screen were notifications of both missed calls and missed alarms. 9 missed calls from Doctor Maxwell. “ Oh my days, 9 missed calls?? No way, no way…. But 9 missed calls just this morning alone? Goodness me…” She said to herself, her countenance fallen, lips pressed tightly together and tears filling up her eyes. Sat up with her legs swiftly swept off the bed, sitting at its edge with her head buried in the phone. She dialled with a leap of faith written on her face “Hello, good morning Doctor Maxwell” Still biting her lower lip “Good morning, Mrs Reynolds. I'm sure you must be alarmed seeing the number of missed calls on your phone” He responded. “Angela is in pain; she can’t stop mentioning your name and really needs your attention. I’ve done all I could, and I think it’s high time we proceed with the surgery. Any further delay could be costly.” He said in a clinical, calm voice. “I…. Uhmm… I've been making arrangements, and we will surely commence the surgery in no time. Please give me a little time. She's all I've got as a family.” Her voice trembled with fear and anguish laced around it. “I understand you, Mrs Reynolds. But you said this same thing last week and the week before. I've lost count of how many times I've heard this same sentence. However, you have the ball in your court, and as I said, delay might be costly” With the same tone. “I'm working on it, please…. Give me just a little more…..” With the word still in her mouth, her door banged… “You seem to have secured a better occupation” Lady Genevieve, a tall black woman dressed elegantly with her dress complemented by an apron, callously said. “I have to go now, I'll update you on it as soon as possible. If I get my permission granted, I will show up tomorrow” She quietly said with the phone close to her mouth. Switching up her facial expressions, she faced Lady Genevieve with a smile on her face… “Obviously not, I'm just trying to untie some knots I woke up to” She said with a grin. “Today isn't that day, my dear. Get yourself ready, we have a whole lot of work to do. The guest would be arriving soon and I'm sure you know Mrs Ava won't condone any kind of fuck ups” She said nicely. “Were you crying? And why's your face pale?” Lady Genevieve said, further drawing near to her. Gently holding her face with her two hands “Wanna talk to mama?” Tracy broke down in tears.. “ I can't do this anymore, Angela is dying” She said sobbing quietly. She had tried hard to hold it but it spilt. “Doctor just called me. She's been screaming my name all night in agony, I can only imagine the kind of pain she's going through. She is really in pains” She said, as tears uncontrollably fell out of her eyes “At this point, it's no longer a bad idea to seek Mrs Ava’s help for the surgery bills. Let's hope she can get touched this time by your story. It's gonna be fine, trust me.” She said, giving her a warm hug. “I hope so” Crying a little more loudly. “Wipe your tears, you can't let this weigh you down. Let's get to work and I promise, I will join you to go meet her tomorrow. Please stop crying now” Lady Genevieve said, holding her face one more time and smiling at her. “You are beautiful. I'm sure God has a very good plan for you. Don't give in to negativity. Stay positive. You won't bury Angela. It's all going to be fine my beautiful Princess. Now let's get ready for work, so things won't get worse” “Thanks, Lady Gene. I'd get set in a bit” She stood up, wiping her tears and her nose. Lady Gwen headed for the door while Tracy proceeded to her wardrobe to get herself dressed. She opened the wardrobe, picked up her dresses and right on the floor of the first column of the wardrobe, lay her diary. Angela's picture on the first page as she opens it “I'd do everything in my power to make sure you live and smile, whatever it takes” Sobbing a little more. ‘ I gotta go now, let's hope for a miracle from Mrs Ava’ Her heart whispered in her heartStill there at the ward in Coinfield Hospital, time was ticking rapidly. It was a few minutes to 8 pm. Tracy checked the time and her face turned pale. She had been having a long discussion with Angela until she eventually fell asleep, while Tracy stared at her with a smile on her face. It was almost time to leave and Tracy knew it. “I can’t wait till tomorrow. I need to shop today.” Her thoughts whispered as she nodded in agreement. She stood to take her leave and walked close to Angela, kissing her on the forehead. “I gotta go now.” She whispered to her ear with a smile, then added something unnecessary. “And also, your sister got married. She is no longer a maid now. She owns her own car and is financially well-off. You can have anything you want.” She whispered, and this made her realise that Angela had been awake all along. “Really?” She said, slowly opening her eyes as she bent her neck towards Tracy to maintain eye contact. Tracy was startled a bit, raising her
The car drove for a few hours, moving steadily along the road, until it eventually came to a stop after passing through a large, secure gate. The hospital building ahead was massive, several floors high, with “COINFIELD HOSPITAL” clearly displayed in large, bold letters across the top. Tracy stepped out of the car, placing her hands on her waist, and paused to take in the structure from a short distance. She pressed her lips together, studying the building’s clean exterior, the wide glass doors, and the neatly paved pathway leading up to the entrance.“So glad I’m coming here feeling completely out of place,” she muttered quietly to herself, taking a small step toward the hospital entrance.“Do you want me to follow you in, ma’am, or should I stay in the car until you are done?” Harry asked, his voice calm as he waited beside the vehicle.Tracy looked at him briefly and offered a small, polite smile. “I’d prefer you stay in the car… sir,” she said, pausing slightly to add the salu
Out of the building, standing at the veranda, Tracy was staring in total confusion. The air felt different out here, heavier somehow, like it carried expectations she wasn’t ready to meet. Everything around her spoke a language she didn’t yet understand. The new lifestyle was so unlike her, so distant from everything she had known. Time and circumstances had not given her the chance to learn, to study, to slowly grow into it. One moment she had been a maid, invisible and ordinary, and the next, she was expected to exist as something else entirely, a boss lady.It did not feel real.Slowly, she began walking toward the gate, her steps careful, almost uncertain, as though the ground beneath her might shift if she moved too quickly. Her eyes drifted toward the garage, where a collection of beautiful cars sat in quiet perfection, each one gleaming under the soft reflection of the evening light. They looked untouched, like they belonged in a showroom rather than a home. She paused briefly,
At Mark’s end, he was on a green field, wearing white shorts, a short-sleeved black polo shirt, and finally, a white cap to complement the outfit. He had been swinging the golf club tirelessly, trying to sink the ball into the hole, but all attempts had been unsuccessful. Alone on the golf course, practicing his swings, he seemed exhausted, his hands resting on his waist after his last miss.“Maybe not today, Mark. I give up.”Wiping off his sweat, he prepared to take his leave as he approached the golf cart to drive to the exit. He paused to pick up his phone, only to see Tracy’s unsaved contact pop up with notifications.“What does this lady want again?”He stared at the phone to check the message content.“I got the estimate for the hospital bills, baby. It’s sixty thousand dollars.”The message brought a smile to his face as he took his eyes off the screen. He scoffed in disbelief.“Baby? She’s already started feeling comfortable?”He brought his fist to his lips, the curve of his
