After reviewing the file that Hunter sent her, Carmen took in a deep breath before leaning back in her seat. Then she clicked on her mouse and switched her computer off.

When the screen became dark, Carmen could see her reflection staring back at her, and at that moment, the tears that she had been resisting came trailing down her cheeks.

But after a second passed, Carmen angrily wiped her tears, then her expression became numb again as she stared back at her reflection.

“He could have told me it all! He could have been open with me! He could have let me help him! But he chose not to. So none of this concerns me.” Carmen frustratingly mumbled.

With so much running through her head, she leaned back in her seat and gazed directly at the ceiling before slowly shutting her eyes.

Carmen didn't know how long she had been napping for, but when she opened her eyelids, Chester was staring at her with concern in his expression.
