A racing heart

The alarm clock on the bed stand screamed and vibrated when the shorthand hit seven o'clock.

However, Carmen didn't move a muscle even though she had been awake all night, and although she was tired, sleep wouldn't take control of her because her heart and mind were consumed by her hurt.

After minutes had passed the alarm finally went silent. But that still didn't convince Carmen to get out of bed even though she knew that it was seven-forty and that's why the alarm stopped.

For two minutes, Carmen slightly opened her eyes but then the darkness circling the room caused her to shut her eyelids again.

Somehow within that instant, she felt glad that she drew all the curtains in her room closed, blocking every bit of sunlight from creeping through the window.

Although her eyelids were tightly shut, tears still escaped from the corner of her eyes and rolled down her chin.
