Nate’s Pov

The door to my room opened .

Avery stood in the doorway wearing black lace that left nothing to imagination, hugging her curves I’d deliberately ignored for months.

My mouth went dry.

She walked toward me without a word, no hesitation with each step measured.

When she reached me, she didn’t wait. Her hands went to my shirt, fingers working on the buttons one by one. I watched her face, it was so focused and determined.

Then my shirt slid off my shoulders.

I grabbed her waist, pulled her against me, and kissed her hard, trying to make this quick and meaningless.

But she kissed back differently than I expected. Not desperate, not timid. Her hands explored my chest, my shoulders, my back, learning every inch of my body.

I backed her toward the bed, never breaking the kiss. When her legs hit the mattress, I pushed her down gently. She lay back, hair spreading across my pillow, watching me with those hazel eyes.

I climbed over her, settled between her thighs. The lace bunched up around her hips. I kissed her neck, felt her pulse racing under my lips. She arched into me, hands sliding into my hair, grabbing a mob of it.

My lips traveled to her collarbone down to her breast, I could smell perfume on breast through the lace. She gasped, fingers tightening in my hair. I broke the kiss, trailing my lips down her neck.

She whispered something when suck on a particular spot, her sensitive spot I guess.

I pulled the lace up slowly, revealing smooth skin underneath. She lifted her hips, helping me remove it completely. The fabric hit the floor.

I saw her completely naked. My eyes racked slowly over her form, her breast, her two peaked pink nipples, to her curves, her ass and her pussy. For a moment, I just looked, she was beautiful. How had I never noticed?

I kissed her again, deeper this time, gently tasting her lips whenever she opened her mouth. My hands explored freely now. The curve of her waist, the softness of her thighs, every touch made her breath hitch.

She trembled when my hand moved between her legs, parting her folds with my thumb, already wet and ready.

But her whole body tensed at my touch on her core.

I went in slowly with a finger, watched her face as I worked her gently. Her eyes fluttered closed, her lips parted as small sounds escaped her throat.

Her hips started moving against my hand as I plunged my finger into her tight hole making her vibrate under my touch.

I kissed her breast, tongue circling her pink nipple and continued to put my finger into her core, increasing the pace. She cried out, back arching off the bed. Her nails dug into my shoulders hard enough to leave marks.

I kept up with the pace, fluttering kisses across her clit, she bucked and I used this to slide another finger into her sheath. She was tight. Her body shook, jerked and pushed forward.

The sounds she made went straight through me, soft moans with whispered breaths. My name falling from her lips like she’d been waiting fourteen months to say it like this.

I felt her getting close, she tightened around my finger and her breathing was faster. Then she came, crying out, trembling, her fingers gripping me like I was the only solid thing in her world.

I gave her a moment, kissed her slowly while she caught her breath.

I couldn’t wait anymore.

I got rid of my briefs, settling back between her thighs. She looked up at me with trust in her eyes that made my chest tight.

I reached for the nightstand to grab a condom. Her hand caught my wrist firmly.

I looked at her.

She shook her head, no words. Just that look that said everything.

Every logical part of me said this was insane and reckless but I dropped the condom. Let it fall to the floor.

I positioned myself at her entrance and pushed my member in slowly.

She gasped, her body going rigid. She struggled and writhed away from my dick. She was too tight, almost impossibly tight.

I stopped. I looked at her face, saw pain flash across it.

My stomach dropped. “Avery…”

“Don’t stop.” Her legs wrapped around my waist. “Please.”

Understanding hit me like a fist to the gut.

This was her first.

“You told me…” My voice came out rough.

“I lied.” She whispered. “I didn’t want you to stop.”

Christ! She was a virgin.

I started to pull back but she held me tighter.

“Please, Nate.” Tears slipped from her eyes. “I want this, I want you.”

I looked at her and I saw determination and need.

I kissed her gently, pushed in slowly, carefully, until I was fully seated.

She whimpered against my mouth, more tears wet on her cheeks and her nails dug more into my back.

I stayed completely still, let her body adjust and kissed away every tear.

Some moments later, she moved, experimenting and testing.

“Okay?” I asked quietly.

She nodded. “You can move.”

I did slowly, watching her face for any sign I was hurting her.

The pain in her expression gradually faded, replaced by something else. Her breathing changed.

“Nate.” She moaned my name.

Something inside me broke open.

I moved faster, I couldn’t hold back anymore. She met me thrust for thrust, instinct guiding her. Her hands were everywhere. In my hair, on my back, gripping my arms.

This wasn’t supposed to be real, it wasn’t supposed to mean anything.

But it did.

I looked down at her every time, at the way she looked at me. Like I hung the moon, like this moment was everything.

I buried my face in her neck, moved harder and faster, hitting every G- spot, trying to outrun the feeling.

But her hands came to my face, turned me to look at her.

“It’s okay.” She breathed as tears streamed down her temples. “You don’t have to love me, let me love you tonight, just tonight.”

I kissed her like I was drowning and she was air.

Her core tightened around me, with back arching. She came with my name on her lips, beautiful and devastating.

I followed seconds later, everything in me pouring into her, marking her in a way that felt permanent.

We lay tangled together with our hearts pounding, breathing heavily.

“Thank you.” She whispered against my shoulder.

My throat went tight, I couldn’t answer. I rolled onto my back, pulling her with me. She curled against my side with her head on my chest and hands over my heart.

I wanted to tell her to go back to her room, but my arm came around her, held her close.

She was asleep within minutes, breathing soft and even.

I lay there staring at the ceiling, feeling her warmth against my skin. Her heartbeat against my ribs.

What had I done?

This was supposed to be nothing, a transaction to speed up the divorce. But I’d just taken something from her she could never get back. Something she’d given freely, trustingly.

I looked down at her sleeping face, peaceful and beautiful.

For fourteen months I’d refused to see her, refused to let her be real. Now I couldn’t unsee her, I couldn’t unfeel this.

Cold woke me the next morning , the bed beside me was empty. The sheet was cool to my touch as the gray morning light filtered through the curtains.

I sat up, looked around. The room was silent. Her nightgown was gone.

My gaze landed on divorce papers on my nightstand, already signed.

My stomach dropped.

I reached for them, her signature was there, clean. Exactly what I’d demanded.

A folded note fell out and opened it.

“Thank you Nate. - A”

That’s all? No goodbye?

My eyes moved around the room, to the sheets. A small bloodstain marked where she’d been. A proof of what I’d taken and what she’d given.

I pressed my hand to it, still faintly warm.

But she was gone.

Wyatt’s POVI didn’t sleep.I sat in my hotel room with my laptop open with running searches, making calls to contacts who specialized in things most people didn’t want to know about. Marcus also worked through all the night tracking vehicles, running plates and checking hotel registries within a fifty-mile radius.By six in the morning, he walked in carrying a folder. His expression already told me everything before he opened his mouth.Marcus dropped the folder on the table in front of me. “Davis Investigations, based in New York. High-end firm that specializes in locating people who don’t want to be found.”I opened it and I saw photos of a middle-aged man with professional camera equipment and telephoto lens. His license plate was registered to the firm. Hotel check-in was dated five days ago at a place two towns over.“Who hired them?” I already knew the answer but needed to hear it.Marcus opened another page of the folder. It contained an invoice header visible in the backgrou

  • He was never mine   Truth

Wyatt’s POV“I need space, Wyatt.”Avery’s words kept echoing in my head for days straight, still sharp as broken glass that I couldn't focus on my work.I sat in my hotel room staring at a glass of whiskey I’d poured but wouldn’t drink, the table was scattered with documents needed to be sorted out.My hands shook slightly as I set it down the glass. I wasn’t the type to break things or punch walls when angry or pissed. Control was what I did best. But right now, control feels impossible for me.I couldn’t leave Seabrook. The doctor’s warning played on repeat in my head like a recording I couldn’t shut off. I know she'd kicked me out, told me to leave her alone. But I couldn’t. Not when one bad day, like that day, could destroy everything.I pulled out my phone from my pocket and called my security team.“I need discreet surveillance on the beach house, far enough she won’t notice but close enough to respond in seconds if anything happens.”“Copy that. How many men?”“Three rotating

  • He was never mine   Paris

Nate’s POVIt’s been two days in Paris. Our luxury hotel for our honeymoon overlooked the Eiffel Tower, the kind of view that should’ve been romantic. But It wasn’t.Celeste had planned everything down to the last minute. Breakfast at eight, Louvre at ten, lunch at some Michelin-starred restaurant, shopping on the Champs-Élysées, dinner at another expensive restaurant with too many forks.Everything was scheduled and photographed for Instagram.I went through it all like a robot. I smiled for pictures, held her hand when cameras were around and I said a few words needed to be said. But my mind was somewhere else.My father’s words wouldn’t just stop echoing. “Do you even know who you married?”Our hotel suite had two bedrooms. Celeste’s excuse was jet lag, exhaustion from the wedding planning. We hadn’t touched each other since the wedding night and that even felt more like a must to do than desire. She dragged me to the Eiffel Tower yesterday. She made me take about fifty pictures of

  • He was never mine   Hospital

Nate’s POVIt was Monday morning after the wedding I woke up with a headache that wouldn’t stop.We had finished the press photo shoot for Vogue after the meeting yesterday and today was the two-hour interview about “the new Sterling power couple” that made my skin to crawl. Celeste answered most of the questions while I sat there smiling like a trained dog and our hands locked together like a happy couple.Tomorrow we leave for Paris, two weeks of honeymoon I wasn’t ready for.But today, I have one thing to do: visit my father in the hospital. The drive to the hospital was quiet. Celeste checked her phone constantly, typing responses to God knows who. I stared out the window, trying not to think about how trapped I felt.At the hospital, Celeste immediately changed from a businesswoman to a devoted wife. She smiled at my father and touched his hand gently.“Richard, you’re looking so much better.” Her voice was warm and laced with concern. “I’m so glad you’re recovering.”“Celeste.”

  • He was never mine   Space

Avery’s POVI sat at the edge of the bed, staring at the wall for hours. Broken glass still littered the room floor. I didn’t have the energy to clean it.I heard voices through the thin walls. It was Marcus first, low and urgent. Then another voice cut through, louder and desperate.Wyatt...My chest tightened. I wasn’t ready for this. I wasn't ready to look at him knowing what I knew now. Then the door opened. He stood there looking completely wrecked with his hair messy like he’d been running his hands through it all day and his shirt wrinkled “Avery.” He just said my name, like a prayer.I didn’t turn to look at him, I kept my eyes on the floor.“Marcus said someone came.” He said, with a rough voice. “Did he tell you anything?”“He told me the truth.” I struggled to say. “You’re not a struggling investor.”The silence between us was stretched. Then, quietly, “No.”“You’re wealthy and powerful.” I finally turned to meet his gaze. “You are ruthless and you destroy people for profi

  • He was never mine   Visitor

Avery’s POVI woke to an empty house. The couch where Wyatt had been sitting last night was empty. I found a note on the table in the kitchen.“Had to handle something urgent. Back by afternoon. - W”I stared at the note, the feeling, that familiar feeling of being left behind, story of my life...That morning, I made tea that I didn't drink. I stared at walls and outside the window, counting the cars and people that passed the streets. A knock on the door startled me.I moved to the door and looked through the peephole. A man stood there in a simple casual t-shirt and faded blue jeans with his hands in his pocket, a cross back on him.“Yes?” I called through the door.“Miss Monroe? I’m here on behalf of Wyatt Kane.” He said.My heart jumped in my chest. Did something happen to him?I opened the door fast. “Is he okay?”“He’s fine.” The man smiled, extending his hand. “Daniel Cross, business associate. Wyatt asked me to check on you while he’s away.” That sounded like something Wy
