Healing Powers Chapter 13
Jenna POV We walk back to the Pack house. The walk is filled with Sam and Jack telling me stories about Adam as a young wolf. He got his wolf earlier than the others. That wasn’t unusual – most Alphas got their wolves before others. I got my wolf before my friends got their wolves. Not that I shared that information. I did not want to draw attention to myself. My parents were proud but agreed to keep it between us. When we walk into the Pack house, Sam tells me Adam’s office is down the hall to my right. As I look down the hall, I notice the door opening from one of the offices. I quickly realize it is Wendy. She sees us and turns her frown quickly to a big smile as she walks towards us. I freeze a smile on my face. I would not let this woman think she was beating me at all. Her step falters for a moment before she walks up to Sam and Jack. “Hi boys, did you miss me while I was gone?” she asks. “Were you gone? I hadn’t noticed,” Sam says coldly

Jenna POV Five in the morning came fast. I sat in anger at Adam’s attitude for part of the night. Who did he think he was? And why couldn’t I simply go out and shift with his Beta or Gamma? His behaviour made no sense for a man who disliked his mate. And had another waiting in the wings for our year to be done. Rolling over in bed I move forward to grab a shower. I put a light amount of make up on – lip gloss and mascara to highlight my eyes and put my hair up in a high ponytail. I walk out of the bathroom with just a towel wrapped around me. Getting to the closet I would prefer to toss my scrubs on, but I don’t want anyone to see me wearing them, so I throw on black leggings and a sports bra. I put a zipper up matching jacket on over the bra. I quickly pack my bag with my scrubs and laptop, heading out my door. As I walk out, I run smack dab into Adam leaving his room. Jenna POV After another delicious meal in the dining hall, I made a quick stop to thank Mary, Jesse, and Sunny once again. They had a special treat made for me when I walked into the kitchen. A chocolate cupcake with peanut butter icing. I don’t know how they knew it was my favourite, but I bit into in front of them. I was instantly in love and to see the pleased look on their faces made that cupcake extra special. I licked the ooey goodness off my fingers before giving each of them a hug. “Oh, Luna you are so much nicer than that Wendy. We were afraid to see her take over,” Sunny says. Smiling at the three women, I feel a twinge of guilt knowing my commitment here is one year. Jenna POV My wolf, Tina, was rubbing herself against Adam’s wolf like a little hussy. “Tina, enough,” I scold her. “You may not want your mate, but I want mine,” she says to me snippily. Once she is satisfied that she has enough of her scent rubbed on her mate, she steps back nodding to him to take the lead. He puts his muzzle against hers before turning around and taking off. Adam POV I was so angry at Jenna and the Moon Goddess. How could she pair me with someone who had some superpower as to heal someone? And how could Jenna not tell me? It had to be magic of some sort and I didn’t believe in that, but she managed to heal me, so I had to believe in something. Making my way back downstairs I ask my Beta and Gamma to meet me in my office immediately. As I move into the office, I catch a faint smell of Wendy. Jenna POV It was a gruelling day. We had an influx of new patients this morning to review. I was counting the hours down to when I could get home and put my feet up. I had managed to sneak out of the Pack house this morning before Adam had left for training. I did hear his door open as I skirted my way down the stairs. As I pulled out of the parking lot, I saw him open the Pack house door. He waved but I ignored him and kept on going. I had a chance to check on the little girl who we had seen yesterday. She was not doing any better today than what we had seen yesterday. Since she is my patient today, I get to explore a little more of what is going on. I still need time alone with her and preferably when she is sleeping. This ends up better for me. Then people do not necessarily remember seeing me or feeling me heal them. Adam POV I watch for Jenna to arrive back to the Pack house. She was not too late and there was still time to make the announcement. As I saw her pull into her parking spot, I see her jump out of her car and grab her shopping bags. I see her bounce up the stairs with a big smile on her lips. She walks into the front door, and I step around the door to welcome her. Because she is not expecting me, she jumps back, to which I laugh. She growls at me for startling her and proceeds to carry on into the Pack house. “Where have you been, my lovely mate?” I ask her. She looks at me suspiciously. She clearly has not forgiven and forgotten last evening, but I would not let that deter me from trying to turn things around. “Just shopping. Jenna POV As soon as we were free of wandering eyes, I tugged my hand from Adam’s grip. He tried to hang on, but I tugged until he sighed and let go. We reached the top of the stairs and I turned towards my room. Adam asks, “Don’t you want your shopping bags?”. I cringe at his voice, realizing he had said he had it in his room. Turning I slowly walk back towards him as he turns to go into his room. I had only been in here once and it had stunk of Wendy. As I walk through the door to quickly grab my bags, I only smell Adam. It smells fresh like fresh linens combined with Adam’s scent of pine and vanilla.
