Adam POV “What? No!” I exclaim to Jenna. I see a hurt look cross her face and she turns away from me. I grab her arm, turning her back. “Jenna, I do not want you to accept me because you have to; I want us to happen because we both want it,” I reply to her. She looks at me with frustration. “There has to be another way,” I say to her. She shakes her head pulling her arm away from me. Adam POV My mate is the most beautiful woman I have ever met. Her green silk dress with a deep vee in the back and up to her neck in the front went with the new jewellery I had bought her to replace the original jewels that were lost when she had been abducted by the Rogue King. As we went through the Luna ceremony, Jenna spoke softly with dedication and commitment in every ceremonial word she repeated. She was confident in her role as the Luna of the Pack. Adam POV I lay Jenna down on the bed and just take a moment to stare at her. To absorb this moment. Jenna would finally be mine. I was ready and she was ready for me to mark her and her me. We would complete our bond. I could not help the excitement I felt as I looked at my mate’s face and her smile encouraging me to continue. I lean over her body, my hands on either side of her head, capturing her lips in a kiss. As I break the kiss, I start to slowly kiss her jawline and down her throat. Jenna POV The pain coursing through my body was destroying me. I could feel wave upon wave of rage coming through the much thinner mind-link I had with the Rogue King. I could hear Adam yelling for Doctor Rivers to do something, while I rocked back and forth in a ball holding my head. Adam’s hand on my head helped ease some of my pain. I put my hand on his holding it there. I felt his lips on the top of my head, which further helped. Around the pain I felt anger. Anger at having the most important and beautiful night of my life marred by the Rogue King. Adam POV I could feel Jenna’s bond starting to weaken. I struggled, as did Sam, trying to break the connection between the Rogue King and Jenna. They continued to stare at one another, the Rogue King starting to feel victorious at the demise of Jenna. As he started to laugh, there was a sudden confused looked on his face. Not aware of what had happened, I am startled as I start to see a dribble of blood slipping out the side of his mouth. His grip on Jenna falters as he takes a step backwards. As he moves his face contorts from confusion to pain. He coughs and more blood escapes his mouth. He releases Jenna in a rush as his hands move to his chest. Then we are able to see it – a silver butcher knife sticking out of his chest. He continues to step backwards. Shock is all over his face as his hands try to grab the handle of the knife. Jenna POV I stand there in awe. I realize I am in a hospital shirt with nothing else on and feel incredibly undeserving of seeing the Moon Goddess dressed as I am. I show my neck to her in a sign of respect. I cannot imagine why I am seeing her at this moment. Am I dying? Have I died? Tears well up in my eyes as I consider the losses I will feel. She is wearing this angelic dress with long sleeves that drape on her arms. She moves with simple grace; almost like she is gliding as she moves. She has stunning white hair, with crystal blue eyes wearing a crown of flowers woven together. As my eyes move across her I reach her eyes to find her staring at me. I look at the Moon Goddess with tear filled eyes and a questioning look. Adam POV I could not believe Jenna had been returned to us. She was so strong. I could not believe she had destroyed the Rogue King and lived to tell the story. We did have another issue, but that could wait for Jenna to be ready to face the world. Right now, she just came back from who knows what. I simply stare at her in awe. Awe that she returned to me. She puts her hand on my face. I put my hand over hers, just basking in the amazing feelings of holding one another. “We got lucky,” I murmur to her. Adam POV The next couple days with Jenna were a blur. We spent most of our time together. She continued to get stronger and was taking to her Luna duties quite quickly. She also worked at the Pack hospital a few hours a day, giving Doctor Rivers a much-needed break during those times. You could see her passion for healing in everything she did. She had not tried to use her powers, regardless of how much I had encouraged her to try. I still could not wrap my head around a Moon Goddess who would punish her for saving the Pack.
