Eli’s POV

“What were you thinking?” I groaned as I pushed Adam off me. His face contorted with pain.

Dr. Broome stepped in and closed the door, kicking the walker out of the way.

“What happened in here?”

I got on my feet and together, we hoisted Adam off the floor. He gritted his teeth and squeezed his eyes in pain.

“Your star hockey player thinks he knows better than trained doctors.”

“I was just trying to stand.” Adam said as he adjusted in his bed.

“I said y-y-you couldn't.” I said as that stutter snuck in again. My chest grew tight.

“I almost had it.” Adam shot back.

“You should train your ego to handle a wheelchair because you're not standing for at least two-two-two months.”

Dr. Broome tapped my shoulders. “You should take the morning off. I would handle Mr. Payne.”

I cursed under my breath and walked out of the room.

I leaned against my office door the second I shut it. My heart was still racing. Adam could have permanently injured his leg if I had not moved fast. I closed my eyes. For a man I wished dead, I was too quick in saving him. I exhaled. I only did that out of instincts and because he's my patient.

I opened my eyes and stared at my office but my mind was still in Adam's room. I replayed everything that had happened. Adam falling, my hands reaching out and both our bodies crashing to the floor.

I walked towards the coffee machine and made a cup. As I dropped on my chair, I reached for my laptop. I knew I shouldn't but I did anyway. My fingers typed quickly. Adam Payne.

The results appeared immediately. Hundreds of pictures, articles, interviews and highlight reels. I scrolled through it all until that picture from the gala.

Adam had a black tuxedo. He was in the middle of a conversation with a man and his head was thrown backwards with careless abandon. I wondered what the man must have said that made him laugh so hard.

“Seriously?” I asked beneath my breath as I shut my laptop. My chest was heaving and I pulled at the collar of my scrubs. It was suddenly too hot in here.

I grabbed my phone and searched him up on I*******m. I scrolled from one picture to another. Soon, I was at the bottom of his page staring at his first picture from ten years ago. It was the day he won the championship in high school. His father's hands were placed on his shoulders firmly. Seeing the boy who had bullied me made my stomach twist in knots.

I turned off my phone and stared at my reflection through the blank screen.

The picture of Adam’s face hanging inches away from mine came to my mind again and I felt a familiar sensation in my pants. My eyes widened as I pressed my thighs together.

This could not be happening. I reached for my cup of coffee and to my surprise it had grown cold.

I got on my feet and headed to the bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror for a while. I was no longer the boy they bullied in high school. I had grown.

I leaned on the sink and exhaled through my mouth. Adam's face flashed before mine again and without thinking, my hands pushed into my pants.

I was already hard in my briefs. I exhaled as my hand wrapped around my erection slowly. I closed my eyes and all I could think about was Adam’s lips inches away from mine, his blue eyes blazing with passion. He must have felt it too.

I pulled my hand across the shaft of my erection and groaned. My hand kept moving and pre-cum appeared at the tip of penis. I bit my lower lips and began thrusting into my hands.

A shirtless picture of Adam that I had seen on I*******m flashed in my head and I groaned. This was wrong. I shouldn't be doing this but I couldn't stop myself either. I hated that man but he had the body of a god.

I thrusted faster, my breath hitching with each move. My breathing soon became laboured as a delicious sensation crawled up my stomach.

I squeezed my eyes shut and applied some pressure to the tip of my penis. My thighs clenched and I groaned loudly as I came all over my bathroom floor. I staggered and pressed my back against the bathroom wall.

Adam Payne was going to be the end of me.

Adam's POV I barely slept that night. No matter where my mind went, it always returned to Eli Brooke. Eli was the small ginger haired boy that was the joke of high school. We taunted him for everything. His ginger hair, his tiny voice and hell, even the way he kept his lips.I never thought I would see him again but I just did. He wasn't small anymore. His shoulders spread out just perfectly and his voice was perfect baritone. I swallowed and looked out my window. It's been almost a decade. Would I ever be able to make things right between us?I reached for my phone. There were tons of messages but I didn't have the mental capacity to reply to anyone now. Barely holding the screen before my eyes caused my head to throb. I heard the blinds pull open and the morning light flooded into my room. I groaned and slightly opened my eyes. Eli was standing in front of my bed with his pad in his grip.“This early?” I groaned.“I like to do the harder things at the crack of dawn.”I

Eli’s POV My breath hitched in my throat and I had to grab the walls for support as I staggered to my office. My blood roared in my ears and my heart thudded in my chest. After years in therapy, I could swear that I was over the events from high school. What I didn't expect was seeing my bully laying in bed as my potential patient.I couldn't bear it. I had seen his posters once and stopped watching hockey then. I hated him. I hated Adam Payne.“Dr. Eli.” I could hear Dr. Broome’s footsteps quicken after me but I didn't stop walking until I got to my office.I was about to shut the door when Broome pushed his way in. My usually spacious office was suddenly too hot and it felt like the walls were closing in. I walked towards the window and pulled the blinds. My chest heaved as I dropped on the couch. I grabbed a fistful of hair and groaned. My ribs burned like someone had wrapped a barbed wire around them.Dr. Broome simply stood by the door with his arms crossed.“What was that?”

Adam's POV The darkness pressed against me so hard, I couldn't tell if I was breathing or drowning. From a distance, I could hear a continuous beep. The sound grew louder with each second. Then came the pain. The ache in my muscles. I tried opening my eyes and a silver light cut through.I winced as I forced my eyes open. I was at the hospital. The memory of the accident hit me fully and I tried to sit up right but the mere attempt caused pain to rip through me.I cried out.“Easy.” My mother rushed to my side. Her eyes were blank and she looked older than I remembered. My throat burned and I swallowed. That was worse. It felt like I had swallowed broken glass. She rubbed my shoulders softly. “Let me get the doctor.”Once the door clicked softly, I stared at the ceiling. I tried to move my legs but I couldn't feel them. It seemed like they had been buried in concrete. My heart quickened. My mother walked back in. “The doctor will be here soon.”“What happened?” I asked.“You had

Adam’s POV I had remained on the ice through broken fingers and ribs. Through a shoulder that had dislocated twice in one season. Pain was part of the game. But tonight, pain was different. It found a home behind my eyes. It was a migraine waiting to pop.The arena light was a blinding white star. I winced and looked around. The sold out crowd that filled Madison square blurred into one mass of colour and noise. My eyes landed on the clock. Thirty eight seconds until the third period ended. Until we advanced to the finals or went home.I bent over, placing both gloves on my knees as I drew in a shaky breath. My chest tightened and the ice tilted slightly.Something wasn't right.“Captain…” A voice called out behind me.I blinked and the world snapped back into focus.Jay, my assistant captain, squeezed my shoulders. “You good?”“Sure.” I offered him a smile that didn't touch my eyes. Coach Pep caught my eyes from behind the bench. He beckoned to me.“Payne.”I pushed towards
