Chapter 20: Just Leave Me Alone

I was typing a document when three soft knocks came on the door.

“Yes, come in.” I replied, and the door opened.

It was Oaklyn. She had a navvy blue, A-line shirt and a white elbow-sleeved shirt on with her hair packed in a low ponytail.

She walked up to me, placing a load of file on my desk. “Go through this, ma. And I also want to remind you about the meeting at 11:00 a.m.”

“Ugh!” I stopped typing, raising my head up a bit. A pain stuck through me, hearing her last words.

“What is it, ma’am? Is everything alright?” She pulled closer to me in concern, and I paused a hand up to stop her. She might end up hugging me if I don’t. I dropped my hand from my forehead and rolled my eyes at her, disgustingly.

“I’m fine, okay?” my lips quirked to the side as I ordered. “I won’t be able to attend that meeting. Tell Mr. Desmond to attend to the customers and... I don’t want any guests as well. Cancel my appointments for today and tomorrow.”

“Okay, ma.” With folded lips, bowed in response
