Chapter 109

Bri

The viper in my path halted me, as the rush of memories of scales and fangs and paralyzing pain swept through me, the blackness began to sweep in as I struggled to breath, before the view of the snake was blocked and the scent of brackish water and cypress brought me back and amber eyes with pulsing gold stared back into mine. I was open to him and he saw everything as I felt myself swept up and moved forward.

Moments later the energy of the place began to radiate into me like a malicious force and I looked up to find two pairs of eyes looking down on me.

Wyatt's strong arms cradled me as Beau’s found my face.

“Sug!” his worried voice called.

“I'm here,” my voice rasped. Beau's expression relaxed, as Wyatt's eyes bore into mine, assessing deeper, ready to pull me out of this ‘mission,’ I pushed them away, forcing myself to stand and looked at the vacant house as I steadied myself with a tree.

“I'm fine,” I insisted. Wyatt growled and I narrowed my eyes at him.

The ghost encounter was so sad and telling all at once. The late Luna Jolene trusts that Bri can do what she could not, and I know she will. My worry now is that Bri breaking this curse will tip Lorraine and the others off to Bri's whereabouts. They can't find her yet...it's not time!!!
