Marrying the heartless alpha !

Amelia's P.O.V.

"Leave it, that's enough," I said to the makeup artist, who nodded and left the room.

I stared at my reflection, gazing at the woman wearing a beautiful white dress adorned with jewels, and forced a smile on my face.

That day, I was going to marry an alpha whom I had loved since childhood, but there was only one problem: he loved............

I was harshly pulled back from my thoughts when my friends entered the room. "I'm so happy that you're marrying Alpha Elijah, the most powerful alpha," Nia said, raising her hand with joy.

All my friends were excited to see me in the wedding dress.

However, when they noticed the sadness on my face, Aliya asked me curiously, "You should be happy today, so why do you look so down?"

"Elijah is my best friend Sophia's mate. Marrying him feels like I'm betraying her," I tried to keep my eyes neutral, but I'm sure they caught the fear in my eyes.

“But how can you forget that you used to love Elijah, and life has given you another chance to revive your love?” Alia said with a smile.

“It's true that I love Elijah, but how can I forget that he was my deceased best friend Sophia’s mate?” I said, putting my hand on my forehead. No one seemed to understand the turmoil in my heart.

"Sophia's memory still haunts me. In her last moments, she wanted to tell me something, but she was so badly injured that she couldn't utter a word," I explained, shaking Aliya's hand.

The death of my best friend continued to haunt me. That night replayed in my mind when I cried over Sophia's lifeless body.

FLASHBACK

"Sophia! Wake up! What's happening? Who did this to you? No, don't close your eyes on me, I beg you," I pleaded, holding injured Sofia, blood oozing out of her body.

Her eyes were half-open and half-closed, her breathing fast as she took her last breath.

"Amelia," Sophia suddenly opened her eyes fully and looked at me with regret in her eyes. Hope awakened in me that I could save her.

"Yes, my love, I'm here with you." I held her hand tightly. Sophia joined her hands as if she was asking for forgiveness, but she was my dear friend.

Why was she asking for my forgiveness? Sophia opened her mouth to say something, but in a swift motion, her breathing stopped, and she lay lifeless in front of me.

"You aren't just my friend. You are my sister. Please don't leave me alone in this world. I will annihilate everyone who did this to you. Please, Sophia, open your eyes." I cried, holding her body.

I kept talking to Sophia, but she didn't respond. I cried loudly over her body, and in the midst of my pain, someone approached me. I heard painful sobs. I turned around and saw Alpha Elijah coming towards me. There was no emotion on his face.

"I don't know who did this, but I tried my best to save her," I told Elijah, tears streaming down my face. Elijah didn't even look at me and started screaming loudly.

I had never seen him like this. He wasn't crying; he was pouring out his anger and sadness with his screams. It shocked and pained me to see him like this. The more I looked at him, the more my heart ached.

Alpha Elijah, known for his cruelty, was crying that day for his loss. His silent cries hurt my soul. I reached out to support him, but he angrily pushed me away.

"You will pay for this," Elijah said with angry, teary, red eyes, accusing me of something that I didn’t do.

END OF FLASHBACK

Elijah's words were still ringing in my ears, and I saw the hatred in his eyes. But then why did he propose to me last night?

I had always wanted him to propose, but not when he was hiding something evil in his heart against me. If someone had told me two years ago to marry Elijah, I would have jumped in excitement.

But now, there wasn't an ounce of happiness in my life. It felt like something very bad was about to happen.

I came back to reality upon hearing Aliya's voice.

"Sophia is dead, and we are all grieving. But that doesn't mean we should stop living our lives," Aliya said, taking my hand in hers to convince me.

"You guys don't understand. Alpha Elijah was in love with Sophia. So why does he want to marry me?" I asked, holding my head in worry.

My head hurt as I pondered this. The bond between mates is strong, so what changed in just two days that made Elijah forget about Sophia and desire to marry me?

"Alpha Elijah needs a wife to lead his pack and continue his lineage. That's why he wants to marry you," Nia explained, putting her hand on my shoulder.

"There are so many beautiful girls out there. Why does Alpha Elijah want to choose me? I'm useless. The Moon Goddess hasn't blessed me with wolf powers, and on top of that, I don't have a mate. Why all this?" I responded.

No one had an answer to my words, and everyone remained silent.

"Regardless of everything, Elijah has chosen you to be his Luna. Don't overthink it. Enjoy your marriage," Maya tried to explain.

Everyone seemed to think I was talking nonsense, but I knew this wasn't a real marriage. There was something else going on.

They told me to be happy, but no one understood that whenever I looked into Alpha Elijah's eyes, I saw Sophia, not myself.

"What's happening here?" I heard my mother's voice and turned to see her, the Luna of the Moon Pack.

"You're looking so beautiful, Alpha Elijah is lucky. The Red Blood Pack and Moon Pack are coming together because of you," my mom said, looking at me from head to toe.

"Mother, I don't want this marriage. Something feels wrong," I said, holding my mother's hand. My mother's face fell upon hearing me.

"You all can go. I need to talk to my daughter alone." My friends left, and I looked at my mother with hope in my eyes.

"What are you saying? You know this marriage will unite the most powerful alpha with our pack. Don't be stubborn," my mother said, holding my hand tightly.

"You don't understand. How can I marry my friend's mate? Whenever I look into Elijah's eyes, I'll see his dead mate," I responded with tears in my eyes.

"Sophia is dead, and you need to accept that. If any other girl were in your place, she would be thrilled to become the Luna of such a prestigious pack," my mother replied angrily.

Even my mother failed to understand me. Everyone wanted to bind me to an alpha who was still consumed by his mate's memory. I only wanted Elijah's love, but today, I was going to be the Luna whose husband didn’t love her.

"I don't want to be a Luna. I want someone who will love me and fight for me," I pleaded with tears in my eyes.

"My child, you're so beautiful that I'm sure Alpha Elijah will love you deeply," my mother said with a smile.

Since childhood, I had been waiting for the moment to gain Elijah's love, but that never came.

"Let's go outside. Alpha Elijah must be waiting for you," my mother suggested, kissing my forehead.

Taking me by the hand, my mom led me outside. On one side, there were the wolves of the Red Blood Pack, and on the other side, the Moon Pack. Everyone was thrilled because our wedding symbolized the union of two powerful packs.

All eyes were on me, but my gaze was fixed on Alpha Elijah, who looked incredibly handsome in his black suit.

However, there was no expression on Elijah's face. It was as if his blue eyes were trying to see through me.

I took a deep breath and walked between the Red Blood Pack and the Moon Pack towards Elijah.

I stood beside him, and the Elders of the Red Blood Pack commenced the ceremony. Panic engulfed my heart as I glanced at James, who stood beside Elijah without any expression.

It was as if he didn't recognize me anymore. James and I used to be friends. We would talk and laugh about everything, but after Sophia's death, he changed.

Why this cold behavior towards me? What had I done?

The wedding ceremony concluded quickly.

"From today onward, Amelia is a member of the Red Blood Pack and has nothing to do with the Moon Pack," Alpha Elijah announced in a loud voice.

There was commotion among the Moon Pack members as they started whispering among themselves.

What did he just say? How can he say something like this so easily? What was he trying to do?

Elijah turned towards me, glared at me, his blue eyes gleaming.

I fell silent, unable to say anything.

"Alpha, everyone is waiting for your signal," James asked in a serious tone.

Elijah looked at James with a smirk, and suddenly, the Red Blood Pack members started attacking my pack.

"What's happening? Stop your pack!" I said to Elijah in fear.

"Blood for blood, and today I will wipe out all traces of your pack," Elijah said to me with a monstrous smirk.

Finally, my worst fear was confirmed—this marriage was a deceit.

I cried seeing the blood of my loved ones. I looked at my mother fighting for her life.

"Mom! Run from here!" I urged her.

"Alpha Elijah, stop them. They are hurting them. Please, I beg you. I will do anything to appease you, but please stop this bloodbath," I pleaded desperately, but Alpha Elijah was laughing like a sadistic man.

I tried to rush to save my pack, but Elijah pulled me towards him.

"Now, you have nothing to do with the Moon Pack. You belong to me." In one swift motion, Elijah turned me around and gripped me by the scruff, preventing me from going.

My pack members, my friends, my family—all were being mercilessly killed. My heart ached at the sight of blood, only blood, everywhere. The blood of my loved ones.

"Please make it stop," I cried out loud. I wanted to run to my pack, but Elijah held me down.

"Because of you, I lost the most precious thing. And now, because of me, you will lose everything," Elijah whispered in my ear, his voice filled with malice.

I struggled in Elijah's grip, but he didn't let go. Tears streamed down my face, but he didn’t show me any mercy.

But why? What sin have I committed that my pack is being mercilessly slaughtered in front of my eyes?
