It's the day of initiation and the Graysons manor was nothing but lively and bubbly with activities; servants carried large trays of assorted foods and drinks to large tables fully decorated in the great manor hall, where special ocassions as this, takes place.
Grayson had the chief servant instruct the maidens to make sure no table lacked.Invited guests from other packs and their alphas trooped in, arm in arm with their lunas.Grayson decided since Alec has no luna yet, the ceremony was going to be as brief as possible. After the guests were settled and comfortable, the ceremony began as Grayson emerged on the podium."Today, we mark the important occasion of a new alpha initiation" announced Grayson"Over the years, this pack has seen several victorious moments, made series of successful expeditions and domination of enemies under my leadership, it is with this motive that I will initiate a new leader who will carry on in my steps" he said, gesturing towards Alec.Alec stepped forward.I, alpha Williams Grayson, of Dark Hind pack bequeath my title and authority on you as the new alpha"Henceforth, you shall be addressed and recognized as alpha Alec Grayson" he said and held his hand up."You all, your new alpha!" He boomed, holding Alec's hand up high. The pack and guests growled in excitement.**************A Day Before the Initiation..."I am here as you ordered, alpha" greeted Devon, bowing his head slightly to GraysonHe studied Grayson. He looked restless."I have asked him to find his mate before the initiation tomorrow, yet I haven't heard from him ever since" Grayson said once Devon was seated.A servant brought a trayful of wild fruits, placed it before them and left quietly after exchanging looks with Devon."Worry not, I believe he won't dare to defer his position for such a task" said Devon pretentiously trying to pacify Grayson.Grayson sighed deeply "I hope so" he said"Although you may have pushed it too far but not as far as not making him alpha as threatened, right? Devon dare to ask.Grayson looked at him, he dropped the coffee cup in his hand and fell far back into the sofa."What are you hinting at, Devon" he asked with a raised brow"I know how rigid Alec can be. I'm sorry to say this but have you thought about what you would do if he failed to get a mate before tomorrow?" He asked calmly. He looked extra cool and collected now.Grayson studied him. Devon must have something on his mind. He thought quickly"Speak up! I have no time for small talks at this point" he barked, annoyed at the painfully suspenseful way Devon talked."Alec won't get a mate at the end of today, will you still make him alpha?" He asked, now sitting up with his hands resting on his thigh."What do you mean, of course I will. Wait, what were you expecting, Devon?" Grayson asked surprised at the sudden question."What if the pack finds out about this" Devon continued with his questionsGrayson laughed, "How will they find out? They can never know" he said in between laughter.Devon frowned "You can't be too relaxed about it alpha, the pack already knows how concerned you are about your son becoming the next alpha without his mate. How can they trust an alpha whose father does not have full confidence in" he asked quickly in hushed tone, though they were alone.Grayson's expression changed, he looked deep in thought now. He remembered his own history and that of his luna."So what?!" He growled suddenly.Devon cleared his throat and spoke quickly "Lets give the pack something, something that will make them forget they ever doubted even for once that Alec may not be fit for the position" he said, smiling deviously.Grayson squeezed his face and asked " What could that be?""A contest. Give them a ruthless fight contest" he said.Grayson was greatly amused by this.He asked "Now what are you suggesting Devon?""Let Alec fight with an opponent before the pack and let him defeat, then announce his unquestionable competence even without a luna" Devon replied, happy with the progress he is making. This only made Grayson laughed more "And who is that befitting opponent for him, if I may ask?""Myself" Devon said firmly.Grayson was now intrigued by Devon's approach. He nodded "Okay, if that is the case, I will announce the contest on the day of initiation""Remember, if Alec lose, chances that he remains the alpa is very slim" Devon declared.Grayson sneered at this statement"Alec has never lost a fight anywhere, anytime, Devon. I will remove him if he does. Which can never happen anyway." Grayson finalizedDevon almost collapsed with excitement as he stood up to leave."The witch's plan is not bad after all" he thought to himself as he exited the manor.Alec's POV I have been initiated as the new alpha, despite not having found a mate but what is this bullshit talk about a contest with Devon? What?! To prove my competence?Hmph! These lots are really testing my patience. All of the pack memebers knows that my strength and agility is unrivaled. What competence are they talking about now? Is it really necessary?Well, my father have announced it at the initiation ceremony and they are all looking forward to it.When the rising tempo from the ceremony had died down, I decided to go see Devon in his personal enclave not far from the Graysons manor.I have some questions for him, because somehow, I knew my father wouldn't do anything without as much as say a word of it to Devon.*******************"Congratulations to you alpha Alec" Devon said loudly as he motioned closer to hug me."Keep your distance Devon, you know I am not a hugger" I reprimanded him."Besides, that is no way to approach your alpha" I added, slightly eyeing him"Oh
Seated in his large spacious and well furnished office was Alec, going through a stock book record of Daktec Globals, from the last few months. Ever since his denouncement as the alpha of Dark Hind pack three years ago, he had fled undercover to a distant town, away from BloodBrigg and the pack.As much as he is angered and bitter about what happened on the day of the contest, he seeked to find out why and how it happened: he vowed that day to bring the masterminds of his misfortune crawling on their knees to him, in chains! For that, he established a large group of business chains that cut across all spheres, with a single base name- Daktec Globals. Every business group was linked to Daktec in one way or another. For three years, he toiled in his own blood and sweat. He hunted and was hunted. Many throats were slit by him, because those who came to discover his identity, rebeled against him and Alec never hesitated to bring their heads rolling on the floor. It is in this blood feuds
I sat staring blankly at the mirror in front of me, completely unaware of my own mocking reflection.I have been up here in my room for two days now and no one bothered to come look for me.I was hated, and avoided like a plague. To them, my vision gift was a curse, because I could only see impending deaths. The only one who was the closest thing to a friend is no more. Worst is, they all think I killed her.All the Mixed-bloods in the facility think Philomena died in my hands, especially Mrs Fernandez, the head caretaker and at the same time Philomena's mom. She had always hated the fact that her daughter always found excuses to be close to me. She and I was the only people present when Philomena took her last breath. All the deaths in here, is somehow believed to be connected to me.This was not the first time something like this had happened, but this time, something was different, I will be thrown out of the facility, I don't know when, but I feel the time is rapidly approaching.
It was 7pm when Alec dismissed his secretary and went down straight to his car.He has some business to take care of, and that is, meeting at the warehouse with Leo, his closest surbodinate, to discuss the strategy for ambushing the nematodes.Once in his car, he lit up a cigarette stick and took a long puff, while resting his arm on the car door.He thought for a while. Aiden Brutus will have to forfeit his beta in return for the support they'd render him against the nematodes, but he is sure a greedy man like Aiden will do no such thing.Right after Aiden Brutus left his office about 48 hours ago Alec put a call to a private post company and had them deliver the message to Aiden, which was the usual way he conveyed the conditions for his rare support to any alpha who seeks it.At first, he thought Aiden would never agree to it, but surprisingly, he did, and of course with a hidden motive.Right now, he has to get the crowd informed through Leo.Quenching the stick in his hand on a m
As I lay down there half dead and completely unaware of how much time has passed, I could not help but wonder if my gift was really a gift or a curse.Growing up as a little girl, my parents were always there for me, they called me 'the savior' They were always showing and telling me how great and wonderful my vision gift is; I can see when the end of anyone around me is near, once I do, an unresistible magnetic force sweeps me off my feet, the type that pulls me towards the person until the D-day.Because of this, people mistook my presence for the cause of their misfortune, as I tried to protect them with numerous warnings which they don't listen to, most times.Right now, I could only pray that someone, or anyone would care enough to ask of my whereabout once they noticed my absence.Deep down I know no one would, I mean no Mixed-blood would miss me. To them, I am the bearer of misfortune, a death bell and if anything, they'd be glad I am gone.Fresh tears trickled down my eyes a
Bella's POVIn the heart of that darkness, I had mixed feeling, the closer i was to my successful escape, the nearer I felt the the clasp of death, such a weird feeling. What could this mean?Slowly, I walked, bumping into walls on both sides, which meant that the path I was taking is a long passageway. After what seems like a minute, I came in contact with another wall.I picked myself up and with my hand still stretched forward, I found a path to my right again, then followed it.My head felt whoozy and heavy, but I kept walking and staggering at the same time.By now, my eyes were beginning to get accustomed to the dark, but for the blurriness which could be as a result of the blood I have lost.it is even a wonder that I am still alive. As I proceeded, I discovered two doors along the passageway and what seems like the end of that pathI stopped and listened, loud music wafted through the first door. When I resumed my walk again, the door suddenly fling open.Damn. I leaned my bac
Alec's POVAt dawn and as early as 2am, myself and the crowd arrived Gordam, where the nematodes perform their ritual baths.Aiden and his warriors were already there. Among them was Asher, the werewolf which Jade rejected and thus led to our fight with Aiden's pack, few weeks ago.Jade pointedly refused to be in the same spot as Asher while fighting, so that she will avoid encountering him in the process.I knew Jade wasn't really into Asher and so I cut the witch some slack. Before we headed for the Oasis Rock lake, I had everyone revisit the plan."This right here, is the position of myself, Aiden and Leo. We'd wait at the major road" I said pointing to the map I have made earlier and looking up at Aiden, who cringed his eyes as if he was trying to listen with rapt attention."The Creek pack warriors shall be divided into three, seeing you are all 12 in numbers, I will have four of you wait with us here including you, Asher. The rest would join the crowd and wait right here" I info
Bella's POVWith Nikey and the man with the huge voice gone, slowly and using my elbows, I crawled in the dirt under the watch of the moonlight and disappeared into the woods.I looked back one last time, the hellhole Mrs Fernandez had left me for my death is not even familiar.I have never seen it before, and looking at the building now, I could guess it is some kind of warehouse situated in the middle of nowhere.I tried to stand on my feet and wade my way through the woods, not minding where I was headed, I just wanted to be far away from my captives, very far. This was no time to tend to my wounds or my knee which I suspected has been broken. So, I grabbed a stick nearby to aid my limping movement.Just when I applied pressure on my two palms while holding the stick, I cried out in pain and quickly let go, blood trickled from them.I began to weep in frustration, as I kept limping.Going deeper and deeper into the woods, I remembered the man I had stabbed in the neck. Were the r
