Everest Leon approached Taggart, who looked anxious after leaving his father's bedroom. Taggart shook his head as if Bruce were rejecting his attempt to cancel the dinner.
"How about this? If you keep doing the dinner, you will take your father's proposed mate, sir," said Everest, expressing his worry. Taggart walked closer to the railing on the balcony of the top floor. He could see some guests had arrived from above. Everest also looked down, although he then turned his gaze back to Taggart.
"I've got no choice tonight, Everest. I may think another way to run.” Taggart then glimpsed at Everest, who gave the nod. Taggart turned around, and Everest followed him. He would go downstairs to meet the guests, as his father insisted.
Meanwhile, Pearl had just arrived at the main lobby. She walked out of her car along with her parents. She was surprised to see some people also coming. She scowled, assuming that she was the only one attending the dinner. Pearl then got closer to her father and half-whispered.
“I think we have a lot of competition, Dad.”
Pearl's words suddenly made Sandra glare at her. Pearl put on an innocent look as if she said nothing. Sandra glared back at John, who looked shocked.
"How about this? Why are so many people coming? I thought they were waiting for us," Sandra hissed and quipped at John. John turned to his wife and then took a deep sigh. He shook his head, not knowing about the Taggarts' plan.
"I don't know about this. They just asked us to come," said John, defending himself.
Behind, Pearl hid her smile. She now prayed inside that she could escape from the arranged marriage as soon as possible. If there were many prettier options, wouldn't her chances of surviving the dinner be greater?
"Let's get inside!" Pearl nodded at Sandra. She was more enthusiastic because she already had a plan. Pearl has no interest in playing matchmaker at the dinner ball. That's why she planned not to stand out and show herself off.
“Ah, we could lose to them. Pearl!” Sandra pulled Pearl forward after they entered the main room. Pearl gasped in surprise, then was shocked to see the mansion's main living room. Sandra and the other guests felt the same way. They gathered in the middle of a Victorian-style room reminiscent of a medieval palace.
Classical music, with a mini orchestra playing beautiful songs, greets guests. Pearl feels like she has been thrown into a century far from her age.
"Am I still on earth?" she muttered, amazed by the house. There is no scary impression in the mansion. Despite Pearl's initial perception of the Kellent family as arrogant and haughty,
The walls were adorned with expensive paintings and statues of high artistic value, and the interior of the room was luxurious, a sight that made all the guests gasp and amazed.
"You are too lucky to have a wealthy future husband like him. Look at this place. I can't imagine how big this house is. They are indeed a real tycoon," said Sandra, amazed by the room.
Pearl turned to Sandra with concern. Sandra was dazzled by the wealth in front of her, while Pearl was busy thinking about her fate. On the other hand, she didn't want her future husband to recognize her. Instead, it would be better if he chose someone else.
Shortly after, a handsome man came down the main stairs into the room. The man smiled kindly. He has a neat appearance and is attractive. He is also handsome and similar to sexy men from Latin America, and he has perfect sculpture and posture.
“Welcome, guests. Tonight, I want to introduce my son to you at the dinner ball," said Bruce Kellent, starting with a friendly smile like a good host.
Some girls smiled broadly to see a handsome, wealthy man as their next father-in-law. His son must be much more attractive. Meanwhile, Taggart was not yet ready to step down. He was still looking from the top floor. Bruce turned to the side and asked one of his guards to come closer.
“Ask Taggart to come to the dining room now. Don't let him escape," Bruce whispered to his bodyguard. The guard nodded in understanding and left not long after. Bruce turned back to his guests with a big smile.
“We'd better gather in the dining room and wait for Taggart.” Bruce invited his guests to join him.
Taggart was about to go downstairs, but he stopped at the end of the stairs. His brow furrowed when he saw a girl being pulled by her mother. He couldn't see the girl's face.
"Sir?" Everest rebuked. He looked down, too, but he didn't understand what was happening.
"What is it?" Everest became curious.
"Come on!" Taggart was even more excited to go downstairs immediately. Everest ran down, following Taggart, who was acting strangely. Moreover, two minutes ago, he wanted to run away, but now he was walking quickly into the dining room, following the guests.
"Sir, what's wrong?" Everest couldn't keep his mouth shut to ask. He felt like Taggart was chasing something.
Taggart strolled with his eyes, looking for the girl he'd seen earlier. Bruce had a glimpse of his son coming, then spoke in a louder pitch.
"Attention, please." Taggart stopped and glanced at his father. His eyes widened when Bruce introduced himself and caught everyone's attention.
"Let me introduce to you all. That is my son, Taggart Kellent.” Bruce stretched out one hand to point at Taggart. Now, all eyes were on Taggart except Pearl. Pearl looked down because she was busy typing something on her cell phone.
Pearl is chatting with her older brother, Keith, about picking her up. Briana is also in the same chat room, planning to escape from the dinner. So, while all the guests' eyes are fixed on and admire the prince, Pearl doesn't see him.
John then looked back and found Pearl quietly typing on her cell phone. He quietly rebuked.
"What are you doing?"
After several attempts to call him, Doctor Louis Durrant got John Rosenthal’s address, but it didn’t work well. He came on dinner time alone. As he walked through the front yard, he was thinking of something. He sighed when he took his best shot today. Hopefully, there’s something he would achieve. After the front bell rang, the door opened in seconds. An average woman opened the door and saw someone she barely knew. She winched her eyes to him. Doctor Louis gave out his friendly smile before speaking.“I’m looking for John Rosenthal. My name is Louis Durrant.” He introduced himself.Sandra still frowned with her suspicious stare at Louis. She recalled all of her husband’s friends. Yet she didn’t put on her smile.“Who are you? You are not my husband’s friend.” She put her right hand on the hip. Louis lightly chuckled and nodded.“I’m a doctor at St. Elizabeth. I need to speak to your husband. Is he home?”Sandra was slightly startled, though she still expressed her dislike flatly. Lo
Damian was overjoyed to hear from Simon that Bruce had changed his mind about Taggart's wedding. He had the phone call and then chuckled lightly.“That’s excellent news. It's not because of that if I got eager. I mean, for his sake, Uncle Sim.” Damian could cope and blurted his laugh. He nodded excitedly.“I understand you mean well towards your brother.”“Of course.” Damian grinned to hear the praise coming from his act.“The wedding is so important for our pack, and I cannot let someone from the lowest rank take the place,” Simon added to his arrogance. Damian kept the man ranting about purging Pearl from Taggart. Once the rumour finds the right place, Damian can eliminate Taggart. He didn’t have to steal Pearl’s heart. Eventually, Taggart would never be an Alpha once he had no mate.“I believe so.”“When Taggart couldn’t marry the girl, you could help him find the better one.” Damian kept his grin.“Yes, Uncle Sim. I’ll let you know about it.”Damian ended the call and then laughed
Taggart was pissed now as he heard that his father. All of a sudden, Bruce postponed Taggart’s wedding. He vigorously walked to Bruce’s office to see him.“Dad!” As always, Taggart mentioned his dad when he saw him working in his room.“Have a seat, Tagg,”“No need. What are you doing canceling my wedding!” He talked fiercely while walking closer to the desk. Bruce stayed calm. He didn’t want to provoke Taggart.“Have a seat. I have the explanation,” Bruce told him once more. He stressed the word that made Taggart finally pull a chair and sit in front of him. He kept the tense.“What is the reason? You told me that I should have my wedding soon,” Taggart said impatiently to confront.“That’s before I know the risk. I need to talk to you to reconsider about it.” Bruce quickly confirmed. Taggart showed his deep frown. He tilted his head, looking at his father sharply.“What do you mean?”Bruce took a deep sigh. He put his seriousness and sharp gazed at Taggart. He couldn’t take it, but
Today, Pearl's department has a new manager to come. He was a handsome man with a warm smile upon everyone."Hi, everyone. I am Luke Damant. I am happy to see you are all here to support the design department. I hope we can stay as a strong team in the future," said Luke, introducing himself as a new manager. Like everyone else, Pearl clapped and smiled at him. Luke looked charismatic and appealing. His appearance has impressed the women's staff, including interns. They looked interested in him."I would like to see the interns first. Would you all come with me to my office?" Luke smiled at all the staff without seeing Pearl. He walked to his office in the side room and opened the door widely to the interns who followed. Pearl was the last one who came in."Thank you for all your attention towards the work recently. I am confident you will have a successful time during your internship program. Starting today, I will be your supervisor and your boss. Any question
Simon Rousey had his breakfast meeting with Bruce Kellent for his business. He wanted to discuss Taggart's mate's choice more. The business deal had gone well before; now, it's time for him to discuss personal matters."Bruce, I heard some elders talk about your next future in law. Taggart has found his mate. Thus, he is ready for the initiation," Simon said after taking a sip of tea. Bruce smiled and then glanced back at Simon."He's ready to lead the pack, Simon," Bruce added with pride towards his son. Simon also smiled without nodding."Have you seen the lady?" Bruce nodded with his pursed lips. He still looked confident."I heard that she's only a girl, with no wolf soul or blood of a royal. That's what they say. Is that true?"Bruce's smile had faded, and he started to look tense. Without making a justification, Bruce straightened his back, staring at Simon thoughtfully."That's why he has to turn her into one of our kind, Simon. The wedding will be during the mating season in t
Boringly, Pearl laid down on the empty, lavish, comfortable king-size bed. She stared blankly on one side while gently twisting the edge of her pillow cover. She was not keen on running away again after her fight with Taggart. Until, in the middle of the night, the bedroom door squeaked and slowly opened. Pearl startled and then turned to widen her eyes. Taggart stepped in limping. He drank a lot since he couldn’t keep thinking about Pearl.Pearl sat on the bed watching Taggart, half-dragged his feet, and threw himself next to her. She was stunned and frozen, perplexed about the situation. Taggart then chuckled oddly. His behavior was both humorous and perplexing.“Hey, lady. Ah, why are you so grumpy with me?” Taggart whimpered while touching Pearl’s cheek with his fingers. His hand then only lay on the bed because he was too drunk even to lift it.“What happened to you?” Pearl gently asked. Her soothing voice made him comfortable. He smiled and then glanced with his eyes half-opened
