LOGINGWENDOLY POV
“I can't believe she did this to me!”
Bryn said it for the hundredth time, face buried against my chest while I ran my fingers through his curly hair and tried not to like how good it felt.
He wasn't in the locker room when I got there, and judging from his personality, I knew he'd be at his home, drowning himself in alcohol.
“But Bryn, a public proposal? How could you pull such a shit without at least hinting me on?”
Why pull such a stunt especially when it involved a psycho girlfriend.
He let out a long, broken breath. “I'm sorry, Gwen. I just wanted it to be a special surprise.
I rolled my eyes.
Yeah. It was special alright. Just not the way he planned.
“Eve broke my heart. She completely ripped it apart, Gwen”
He wailed, and I bit back the urge to knock some sense into his head.
Here I'm, sacrificing my entire weekend for his depressed ass and he kept wailing that bitch name.
I wonder why he bothers crying when he would run back to her like a puppy at the sight of juicy bones.
This was their fourth breakup in two months which makes me wonder why he loved such a toxic person.
“Argh. Come on, Bryn. It's just a rejected proposal and not the end of the world! Just find another fresh chick”
I almost forgot about Sammie and his goons in the sitting room, piling up beer after beer.
Bryn looked at him.“You don't understand, Sammie. Eve is the air that I breathe—”
“Enough Bryn! Sammie, get out.
I was sick and tired of listening to his whining.
I should probably just leave his story ass and crash home already but my fragile heart won't be able to sleep peacefully knowing my best friend isn't.
He smirked. “Oh, come on Gwendolyn. I was just trying to glue back loverboy's heart”
He didn't move an inch.
“Get. Out”
He held his hands up, grinning. “Alright, alright. Come on, guys. You heard Bryn's momma. Let's hit the road”
“What the fuck, Sammie!”
The rest of the guys followed him out, laughing.
Finally the apartment went quiet.
“Relax, Bryn. It's probably just one of her tricks to get back at you”
I said.
He shook his head and slid lower on the couch, an almost empty beer can dangling from his fingers.
“Not this time. She sent me this a few hours ago, and I've been trying not to strangle someone ever since.
He belched then pulled out a half wrecked phone and shoved it at me.
I stared at the blue and gold color digital version of a wedding card, wondering what he meant until i saw the names of the celebrant.
It was Eve getting married to some Blackwood guy and the wedding was in three weeks.
I tried not to let my smile widen as a wave of joy spread through me.
Eve is getting married to someone else.
I wasn't surprised. That was how psychotic she was.
Finally, that bitch is gone.
I know I shouldn't be happy right now but that bitch had stolen my shine for four fucking years.
It was finally my chance at Bryn's.
“Bryn, i…”
Bryn spoke first. His voice came out rough. “She’s gone for good, Gwen. How the hell am I supposed to survive without her?”
I frowned.
“You’ll be fine. There are other girls—”
He cut me off sharply. “I can’t.” He sat up, eyes dead serious. “Eve is my Eve. I’m her Adam.”
I blinked rapidly. Trying to understand what the shithead was saying.
“Her what?”
“Every Eve needs her Adam. That’s me.”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. This idiot just got publicly dumped and he was already planning how to get her back.
Argh! He needs a total brain surgery.
Then he said the next part was even quieter.
“I’m gonna kill the bastard who took her.”
I stopped, then turned to stare at him.
“Kill who?”
“The dickhead who stole Eve from me.”
I exhaled slowly. “No one’s killing anyone. There are a million girls who would actually want you. Just pick one.”
I said, while my mind was literally screaming ‘Can't you see me’.
He gave a short, humorless laugh. “Pick one? Like a can of beer? Don’t be such a nerd tonight, Gwen.”
A nerd?
Is that all I was to him?
Not his blonde haired girl who looks sexy in anything.
Why can't he see pass the girl who is a sport medic, and loves reading thrillers and watching documentaries?.
Hell, I was done trying to be a good girl.
Fine. If Bryn Walker wanted an Eve so badly, maybe it was time I stopped acting like the harmless best friend.
FROST POVWhen Bryn asked me to help pick up his best friend from the airport, I almost told him to go to hell.I wanted nothing to do with his messy love life. I didn't understand how a guy could love a woman like Eve.But then, that's what made him Bryn Walker. He loved flashy, loud women and anything that slowly drove a person insane. And Bryn being Bryn, he kept pushing. So here I wasBut the girl who stepped out at LAX didn’t match the version he’d spent years describing. He’d always made her sound soft. Nerdy. Hoodies and boots, glasses, quiet. The kind of girl who read thrillers and stayed in her lane.I could still hear his stupid voice.Frost, do you know any Gen-Z woman who loves hoodies and boots more than heels? Nah! None except Gwen. The woman I found looked nothing like thatDressed in a black crop top and tight jeans that made her perfectly rounded ass hard to ignore. Those green eyes were hidden behind her glasses, and those plump lips made me wonder what they would fe
GWENDOLY POVI had been standing at the taxi stand at Los Angeles International Airport for forty minutes, looking like a worn-out wannabe. It was typical of Bryn not to show up at the expected time.I should’ve never let him fly ahead of me.Now, I was standing here with my luggage, dialing his number for the hundredth time as it kept going to voicemail.Suddenly, my phone buzzed and completely blacked out.“Perfect,” I muttered. The battery was dead. Now, how the hell was I supposed to reach him?I felt like punching someone—or something.“Hello, miss. Need some help?”A tall, shaggy-looking guy with messy blond hair was smiling at me. Another guy hovered a little too close behind me. I instinctively held onto my bag tightly.“What do you want?”I scowled at him.“Easy. You’ve been standing here a while. Figured you might need a hand with something.”He said it softly, and I relaxed a little. He didn't look like one of those typical pickpockets.“Yeah. I'm actually waiting for some
GWENDOLY POVIt was past 8:00 A.M., and Bryn hadn't replied to a single one of my text messages or picked up any of my damn calls.I'd stayed awake all night, waiting to hear the sound of my car returning or my phone ringing.Neither happened.I finished the team’s morning physicals. Bryn was nowhere to be found.Coach Zach was already yelling at the rest of the team to move their asses. Then the door slammed open.Bryn walked in looking like shit. His hair was a mess, his clothes were rumpled, and there were dark circles beneath his eyes.He dropped into the chair next to me.“It's over, Gwen. I'm completely fucked.”“What happened?”I immediately stopped what I was doing and pulled my chair closer. My anger evaporated immediately.“That bastard caused this. If he hadn't taken Eve from me, none of this would be happening.”He stood and started pacing, running both hands through his hair.“Bryn. Sit down and tell me what actually happened.”“What am I supposed to do, Gwen? How do I ev
GWENDOLY POV “You know what, Bryn? I'm booking a stripper for you tonight?”He turned sharply "You want to book me a stripper? Don't you know what strippers do, Gwen?”He asked.“I know enough to know they only gonna lap-dance on you”I rolled my eyes.“Come on, Bryn. It'll be fun, and you clearly need a distraction.”I watched his reaction. For a moment, he looked thoughtful. Then he nodded.“Yeah. You're right about that. I need a distraction. And what better way than a stripper?”He grinned, his eyes suddenly bright.I immediately started typing on my phone. “I need to change into something better before my distraction gets here.”He headed toward his bedroom. I raised an eyebrow. “What about me?”He stopped dead. Then slowly turned around. “What about you?”“Don't you think I need to change too?”His eyes swept over my baggy T-shirt and old black pants as if he were seeing me for the first time.“Gwen...” He said my name carefully. “No guy strippers. Not in my place.”He said

GWENDOLY POVI wished I'd never gone to the game arena.Have you ever watched the man you love give another woman the one thing you've secretly wished he'd give you?I was about to find out.The city's hockey arena was filled to the brim with thousands of people, most of them there because of the man wearing number seventeen, who was playing as if his life depended on it.And the reason half of the ladies in Kansas City suddenly became hockey fans. Bryn Walker. The Ice Wolves' star centerAnd my best friend of eight years. And, unfortunately for my sanity, the man I'd been secretly in love with for eight years.Eight solid years.I'd spent eight years convincing myself that loving Bryn from the sidelines was enough.Eight years of patching up his split lips, taping his bruised ribs, arguing with him about resting injuries, and pretending I didn't notice the way my heart did stupid little flip or how my pulse went crazy whenever he smiled at me.But that's what unrequited love did t
