LOGINLavender:
My heart had skipped a beat, and the world had tilted beneath my feet. I swear, I stared at him for a good few minutes, even though they noticed.
“You good? You look like you just saw a ghost,” Nikon snapped his fingers in front of my face, snapping me back to the present.
I nodded, feeling paralyzed in my body.
“I wasn’t eavesdropping—I was asked by my mom to bring everyone for breakfast,” thank goodness my brain worked at the right moment, and I came up with an excuse. Even if they didn’t believe me, I had done my part.
My head was spinning, and my thoughts were all over the place.
I couldn’t even look back at Easton without realizing I had been in the dark about literally everything.
The nice, good guy, who couldn’t stand to see anyone in pain, was talking about my grave just a minute ago.
He was so fake—all his songs and interviews, all his runway walks where he acted all shy yet sexy—it was all a fake persona. It has to be.
"Anyway, this is Lavender, she’s our nineteen-year-old sister," Nikon used a dry tone to introduce me, with a rough hand gesture.
"And Lavender, this is the youngest one, Igor!" Nikon then proceeded to point at the green-eyed brother, the one who had caught me listening in on his brothers. Igor was just as tall as Nikon. They were both broad with slim waists. If I had to compare them to someone, I’d probably say they were like the hot CEO anime guys, but with real darkness in their hearts.
"And this is Easton, the model and singer, and your sweet stepbrother," it was Nikon’s way of remembering his brother’s online fake persona.
With a roll of his eyes, Easton gave me a nod. I couldn’t accept his greeting—not after he had fooled me all these months into writing speeches for him and clearing his name from all the rumors that basically said he was fake. I was always doing PR work for him, making videos and comments to debunk the poor victims who had crossed paths with him and complained about his behavior.
Now I felt so bad for them. I was such a desperate fan that I hurt the true victims.
"Let’s go, our stepmother has prepared breakfast for us," Nikon, being the oldest, seemed to be in charge of their behavior. He was the one eyeing them and gesturing for them to act a certain way. Either way, I had just had the shock of my life, and there was something I needed to take care of before I got caught.
I had tons of pictures of Easton in my room and on my side table. Heck, I was even thinking about hanging his poster on one of my walls.
Imagine getting caught thirsting over your stepbrother.
Everyone would chew me out and throw me out.
"Where are you going?" As the brothers started to walk away, I began to retreat.
That's when Nikon stopped me dead in my tracks.
"I forgot something in my room," I quickly excused myself, turning around to avoid their gaze and quickly walked away from them. I climbed the stairs, and once I was in my room, I started grabbing the pictures, magazines, and anything that could hint at my crush on him, tossing it all into a bag.
I then shoved the bag under the bed and rushed to the bathroom to wash my face. My cheeks were burning.
My mind was full of mixed emotions. On one hand, I was wondering if Easton's hostility was because his father had brought another woman into their home, and maybe he had no part in his brother's mafia business. I mean, Easton was making money for himself, so maybe he didn't like the lifestyle and chose to do his own thing.
On the other hand, I had finally met my crush, saw him breathe and speak in person, but I couldn’t even be happy about it because there was this huge barrier between us, making my crush on him feel like a disgusting taboo.
While I was in the bathroom, I heard a strange buzzing noise from my room. Almost like something was vibrating. My phone was with me, so what could it be?
Unlocking the door, I stepped into my room and saw a pink bag on my bed with the zipper open. The noise was coming from the bag itself. I reached for the bag, confused about where it had come from, but my confusion quickly turned into shock when I saw what was making the noise.
I swear I never owned one of these, so what the heck was this bag doing in my room? I grabbed the vibrating item and then peered inside, my skin crawling with goosebumps.
There were so many of them, different shapes, different types.
"After you met your brothers?" Hearing a man’s voice while I was alone in my room startled me, making me step back from the bag with the vibrator in my hand.
I swear I didn’t own these, but I had seen the pink bag with Normani once. Did she leave it here just to get me in trouble?
Was she already back to her old tricks?
But that could wait. Right now, I had to deal with the stepbrother who was looking at me all weird.
Igor raised an eyebrow, blinking slowly, as if he was trying to calm himself down before confronting me.
"It’s---not mine," I stuttered, my breathing shallow.
"Turn it off," he hissed, sounding really angry.
I struggled with it for a moment before he lunged at me, snatched it out of my hand, and broke it on the ground, suddenly making it go silent.
"What is this?" he hissed in my face while I pulled myself together. "So this is why you didn’t want to come to breakfast? Such an early morning, and right after meeting your stepbrothers?" The disgust in his voice made me feel like hell. What if he found out I had a crush on my stepbrother too?
"No, I swear—" I couldn’t get the words out while he walked over to grab the bag.
"Let’s display it on the breakfast table so my father knows what kind of disgusting family he brought into our home," his words were a mix of taunt and anger.
I held onto the strap of the bag from the other side to stop him from taking it.
"I swear it’s not mine. I was in the bathroom and heard---," I hated how I couldn’t talk when I was under pressure. It always made things worse for me.
Igor let go of the bag and walked away, his eyes on me, giving little head nods.
He wore a black leather jacket with the collar up, his tattoos on his neck standing out.
He then stood near the stairs and peeked down. "Ayo, Nikon! Come see what kind of kinks our stepsister has."
Lavender:Five years later.“Aurora and Mike, don’t run!” I called out as I watched my two four-year-olds race around the mansion like crazy.“Mom, he always takes my toys,” Aurora complained, and I gave her a look.“You know, if your father comes over and sees you two fighting, he’ll be very upset,” I warned, giving them a harsh look.“Okay, fine. What do you want us to do now then? We are bored at home,” Aurora muttered. She was so spoiled by Nikon. I didn’t understand why he had to spoil them so much.In his eyes, they could do no wrong. And although I admired him for it, he needed to teach them some mannerisms and a little etiquette, especially Aurora. He always treated her like a spoiled princess. And then there was my little son, Mike. He was much more tamed than Aurora because his father taught him to be strong and to take care of his sister.“I want you two to go and start cleaning your toy room,” I told them, giving them a look. The two rolled their eyes.“It’s always cleaning
Lavender:Two months later:“And that is how Mr. Nikon saved the victims of sex trafficking. He had heroically chased down Kenzie Malcolm Gabriel and rescued not only his wife but many other women who had been abused and trafficked. Kenzie Malcolm Gabriel and her father had a long history of selling women. With Nikon's help, they were finally cast aside. Many other victims were found and freed. Nikon donated billions for women's therapy. Can there be any better hero?”I smiled at the news, then turned to look at my husband. He was finally back with me. After that night, everything finally eased. Although Nikon had to go back to prison, I stayed in the mansion with his trusted men, and I was fine.I met him and told him I wanted a DNA test to prove the baby was his. He refused. Nikon wouldn't even entertain the idea that I was carrying someone else's child. He said that if I knew in my heart whose baby it was, he believed me too, and that meant a lot to me.I still did the test and I wa
Nikon:Before Joining Lavender Again:Holding Lavender in my arms again felt better than anything. I bet she knew I was happiest when I was with her.Seeing my brothers, though, made my blood boil. I had expected them to be wiser, kinder, to look after my wife while I was gone. Instead they showed they never treated me like a brother, and that truth cut deep.Though I no longer wanted them beside me, I was long past caring for them.I wasn't just angry. I knew what happened to Easton. The cruellest betrayal was to be stabbed in the back by his own brother, the man he trusted so close that they'd convinced themselves not only they could share my wife, but they could make her suffer. When Igor saw me, he knew his time was up. He let go of Lavender and bolted, trying to put as much distance between us as he could.I strolled after him, smoothing my coat. Mr. Benson had picked me up a few hours earlier and made me change into a new suit because I was going to meet my beautiful wife today.
Nikon:One Day Ago:Ever since I found out my brothers had dated my wife in the past, I was certain that the calls she made and the things she said were actually not done and said by her.She must have been forced to say those things, which meant she was being held by my brothers somewhere.Knowing I had done so much for them and they still hurt my wife without thinking put me through so much anxiety, and I felt helpless. I could not even go out and save her.“Nikon, someone is here to see you,” Mr. Benson's arrival was not a surprise, but I expected him to bring good news.I lifted my head, hoping he had brought Lavender with him, but when I saw Sabrina instead, my mood soured.I did not want to see anyone’s face after what they had put Lavender through. I knew nothing good could come from them for her. They ruined her innocence. They destroyed her peace of mind. And why the fuck would Sabrina come to see me? What business could she have with me?"If you're here to spew nonsense and
Lavender:“You’re telling me you’re the man who ruined my mother’s life?” I hissed as I stepped away from Mr. Benson. It shocked me that he had the nerve to stand face-to-face with me and announce he was my father, even knowing what it would mean. Everything I had been through, my mother taking out the anger from his actions on me, rushed back all at once.He began to shake his head, looking so hurt.“I know what she’s told everyone about me, but it’s not true, not in the slightest,” he started to explain. I stepped back, sniffling.“So what’s the truth?” I asked him. I wasn’t sure if I could trust him. I remembered Nikon had told me that my father was gone, that he had hurt my mother.“Please sit down. I just have to tell you this today. It’s been so long that I’ve kept the truth because I couldn’t tell you, but now I have to. You’re my daughter. Please, just give me a chance,” he pleaded over and over again.I steadily paced back. It was my way of letting him know he had only a few
Lavender:Mr. Volkov stared at him, eyes wide.“Is it true? Did you really do that to your brother?” The fear in his voice said it all. He was finally realizing what monsters he had created.“Yeah, so what? Huh?” Igor snapped. “He was doing the same to me. He fucking lied to me. He was going to betray me for her. He broke his promise and got into her room.”Igor started panicking when he noticed his father bending and massaging his left arm.“Oh, fuck no, Dad. Pull yourself together. I need you right now. I need support. You have to convince the FBI agent we’re going to help them so I can become the Mafia King. Then everything will be fine. Easton was—”Igor didn’t even know what he was saying. He was rambling, panicking, while his father sank to his knees.“Father!” Igor screamed, reaching him. His father dropped to the ground, staring up at his son’s face.“You two—I put all my trust in you two—i wish I had given half the love I gave you and easton to Nikon—,” those seemed to be the
