My wife has long yearned for a child. One day, she finally becomes pregnant after spending the night with a college student. Overjoyed, she plans to keep it a secret until the baby is born. However, at the hospital, I catch her red-handed. Losing control, I demand to know why she would betray me, especially after all the billion-dollar deals I've secured for her. Without a flicker of remorse, she hands me the divorce papers. "You're infertile, and my desire to conceive has been a constant struggle. On the other hand, Ed is young, passionate, and protective. I'm going to marry him and start the family I've always wanted. Sign the papers. As long as we part on good terms, your place in the company is secure." My refusal only fuels her relentless revenge. She not only has me thrown in prison but also seizes every one of my assets. In the end, she even forces my parents, who suffered from heart disease, onto a drop tower ride. "Sign off on the divorce, and they'll be safe. Refuse, and you'll see them die on that ride."

Chapter 1

Tears streamed down my face.

On my knees, I signed the divorce papers, desperately begging Fiona Wainwright to spare my family.

However, in the next instant, my parents—Neil Grant and Deidre McCurdy—were thrown from the drop tower ride.

"No!" I screamed.

When I came to, I found myself back on the very day Fiona handed me the divorce agreement.

This time, I threw both the divorce papers and my resignation letter at her, saying, "This is what you wanted."

The moment the words left my lips, Fiona let out a mocking laugh.

"Logan, I asked for a divorce, not your resignation. Did you really think such a threat would make me bend to your will?"

Without hesitation, she grabbed a pen and signed the divorce papers.

Throwing them back at me, she snapped, "I already gave you a chance, but you didn't appreciate it. Since you're so eager to cause a scene, don't expect me to go easy on you."

After signing the divorce papers, she didn't even glance back and simply turned to walk away.

As I watched her retreating figure, my thoughts wandered back to five years ago—when we first started the company.

At those initial business dinners, I always took her drinks since she was allergic to alcohol. However, one night, it finally took its toll. I was rushed to the hospital with a bleeding stomach.

As her husband, I gave my all every single day for three years, pushing the company forward until it went public.

On the day we celebrated, she clung to me, her tears streaming down her face.

"Logan, I can't have children. I'll never be able to give you the family we hoped for. But you married me anyway and stood by my side. Thank you for sharing every struggle and every joy with me. If I betray you in even the slightest way, may peace forever elude me."

In my past life, that promise weighed on me for most of my days.

I truly believed we would grow old together. I had cared for her without hesitation and faced every hardship alongside her.

Even after I learned of her affair and that she was pregnant with another man's child, I foolishly held onto the hope that she'd come back to me.

It wasn't until she had me imprisoned because of that college student and caused my parents' deaths that I truly woke up.

I realized even the purest love could turn into bitter hatred.

After all, feelings were never set in stone.

As I touched the folds of my resignation letter, my eyes remained steady and composed.

This time, I vowed not to repeat the same mistakes.

If Fiona was cold-hearted, then I would have no choice but to let her go.

I decided to call my parents.

"Mom, Dad, I've launched a new business in Germovia. Could you go ahead and keep an eye on things for me? I'll join you in about two weeks once I've settled everything here."

My parents didn't ask any questions.

After ending the call, I handed the divorce agreement to my lawyer.

With that out of the way, I returned to the office, ready to pack up my things.

However, just as I pushed the door open, I froze.

A young man with refined features was sitting arrogantly in my chair.

"Mr. Grant," my secretary, Frank Pena, called out.

He spoke in a low, restrained tone, his eyes burning red with frustration. "Ms. Wainwright made a sudden decision this morning to have Mr. Chamberlain take over your role. The problem is, he hasn't even graduated from college. And on top of that—"
