Rowan ran through the woods, following the hunter's scent. He knew who it was even before he saw the dark shadow waiting for him beneath the twisted old tree.

It was Kade.

A brutal wolf from Rowan's past. Strong. Cruel. And obsessed with Elara.

"I knew you'd come," Kade sneered, stepping into the moonlight. His eyes glowed yellow, filled with sick hunger. "Where is she? Where is my little omega?"

Rowan bared his teeth. "She's not yours. She never was."

Kade laughed. "She will be. I’ll find her. And when I do, I’ll cage her. I’ll make her beg. I’ll fuck her until she forgets you ever existed."

Rowan's rage boiled. He growled, low and dangerous. "You won't touch her. Not while I'm breathing."

Kade stepped closer. "You always acted like a hero. Like she’d ever pick you. But she rejected me in front of the whole pack. She shamed me. I’ll make her pay for that."

Rowan leapt.

Their bodies clashed with a loud crack. Teeth snapped. Claws tore through fur and flesh. Rowan's shoulder burned fro

Elara woke up suddenly with a heavy chest and stomach pain, a strange kind of silence that made her skin crawl. There were no bird sounds, no windy air.She sat up slowly, her blanket slipping off her shoulders. Her back ached, and her legs felt numb from sleeping on the hard ground. She looked around. The trees stood tall and still, too still for her comfort.Rowan stood near the edge of the bushes, tense and alert. His back was straight, his body stiff, and his head turned slightly like he was listening to something in the silence."Rowan?" Elara's voice came out in a whisper. He didn’t turn around. "Stay quiet," he said. "Something’s wrong."Her heart skipped a beat. She clutched her belly protectively. The fear grew overnight or maybe that’s just how it felt. The baby had been more active than ever, kicking and moving, as if it, too, sensed danger.Rowan sniffed the air. His nose twitched, and his eyes narrowed."What is it?" she asked, her voice trembling. He looked back at her t

Elara woke slowly, her eyes blinking open to soft golden light. She wasn’t freezing. For once, she wasn’t shivering. She blinked again and realized she was wrapped in a thick blanket, tucked against the warm wall of a cave. A small fire crackled nearby, giving off just enough heat to chase away the chill. And Rowan... Rowan was sitting at the mouth of the cave, one knee bent, his back to her. He was holding a knife in one hand and a long branch in the other, sharpening it into a spear.Elara pushed herself up slowly. Her muscles ached, and her belly felt tight. But it was better than yesterday.“Rowan?” she said softly. He turned around fast, his eyes lighting up the second he saw her awake. “You’re up.”She nodded. “What time is it?”“Late morning. You’ve been sleeping peacefully,You needed it.”He stood and walked over, kneeling beside her. She noticed then his left arm was wrapped with a strip of cloth. The edge of it was stained red.“Rowan,” she gasped, reaching for him. “You’re

Elara didn’t know how long she had been walking. The sun had barely risen, but her body already felt like it was giving up. Her legs were weak, her feet hurt, and her back ached more with each step. The air in the forest was cold, but her skin was hot. She was sweating, even though the wind bit at her face like ice.She stopped for a moment, leaning against a tree.Rowan turned back. “Elara,” he said gently, “we need to keep moving.”“I know,” she whispered, panting. “Just… give me a second.”Rowan looked around, ears alert. “We don’t have time. They’re close.”And then it happened.A long, low howl cut through the forest. Not the sound of a normal wolf.It was a hunter. And it was calling others.Elara’s heart jumped in her chest. Her hands flew to her belly protectively. Her legs moved on their own now, fueled by fear.“They found us,” Rowan said, voice tight. “Run. Now.”Elara didn’t ask questions. She ran.Branches scratched her arms, roots pulled at her feet, but she didn’t stop.

The forest seemed endless. The trees stood tall like guards, bare branches scratching at the sky. The cold wind made Elara’s face sting. Her legs felt like they were made of stone, and every breath hurt.Rowan ran ahead, glancing back to make sure she was still following. His face was tight with worry.“Elara, we’re almost there,” he called softly. “Hold on.”But Elara could barely hear him. Her head felt heavy, her vision blurry. Her body was shaking, not just from the cold but from how weak she had become. Her hands kept going to her belly, as if holding it would give her strength. Her boots slipped on wet leaves, and she fell to her knees. The ground felt like ice.“Elara!” Rowan rushed back to help her up. “Don’t stop now. Please.”“I… I can’t,” she breathed, tears stinging her eyes. “I’m too tired.”Rowan helped her to her feet. “Just a little more. There’s a den up ahead. We can rest there. I promise.”Somehow, she forced her feet to move again. The world swayed around her, and

The night air was cold. Elara stood near the tree line, holding her small cloth bag close to her chest. Her heart beat fast. Every sound made her flinch. The dry leaves on the ground crunched softly under her feet. The moon was still low in the sky.She was just about to step into the forest when a soft breeze brushed past her and with it, a scent. Her eyes widened. It was faint, but she knew it. The smell of pine trees and warm smoke. Something from her childhood.the pain, the scent she wants to forget before she becomes the rogue.“Rowan?” she whispered, her voice shaking.A shadow moved between the trees. Then he stepped out.His hair was longer now, pulled back into a ponytail. His jaw had sharp edges, and his shoulders were broad. But the eyes were still the same soft brown she remembered. He wore a dark cloak, and mud covered his boots.“Elara,” he said quietly, looking at her like she was a ghost. She stared at him, unsure if she should cry or run.“Is it really you?” she asked
