Jasmine’s POV

Sunlight filtered through the curtains, soft and golden, like the night before had been some kind of dream. I blinked awake to the sound of Marc shifting on the bed beside me. His skin felt cool under my hand when I reached for him. His temperature was back to normal and the fever was gone, just like that.

“Mom,” he said, voice bright and clear, already sitting up with that wide-eyed look he got when something big was on his mind. “I had a dream. You have to hear this.”

  • Her Alpha’s Kryptonite   CHAPTER 60: Jasmine Trains With Fabian

Jasmine’s POV I ended up accepting Fabian’s offer for the training. His training methods were older than anything Tristan used. They were more precise and calibrated to rare bloodlines in a way that felt less like combat instruction and more like someone carefully turning the dials on a lock that had been sealed for years. I stood in the center of his private training room thirty blocks from Apex, bare feet on a smooth wooden floor that held the faint scent of cedar and something herbal I couldn’t name. The space was quieter than Tristan’s gym, and the interiors looked nothing like Tristan’s, they had no mirrored walls designed to show every flaw in a stance. Just open floor, soft light, and the low hum of wards I could feel at the edges of my awareness even through the amulet. Fabian moved around me with the same patient calm he had always carried. No sudden strikes. No pressure designed to force a reaction. He watched the way I held my shoulders, the way my weight settled, the s

  • Her Alpha’s Kryptonite    CHAPTER 59: The Argument

Jasmine’s POV A few minutes after Tristan’s visit to my desk, I went straight to his office to give him a piece of my mind. I placed both hands on Tristan’s desk the same way he had planted them on mine. The wood was cool and solid under my palms. I leaned forward until our eyes were level and held the contact without blinking. “If you ever intercept my communications again,” I said, “I will quit. And you will lose every advantage that comes with me being inside this building.” The threat was not empty, and we both knew it. Tristan did not raise his voice, instead he stood and came around the desk, stopping two feet in front of me, close enough that I had to tip my chin up to keep the eye contact I had chosen. “Every person currently interested in your power is a threat,” he said. The words were low, precise, and stripped of pretense. “That includes people who arrive carrying training offers. Clay is not neutral. The invitation was a probe, and I will not pretend otherwise.” I h

  • Her Alpha’s Kryptonite   CHAPTER 58: Fabian Returns

Jasmine’s POV An email was already sitting in my work inbox when I opened it after lunch. It had no subject line that screamed urgency. It was just a clean, professional header, with Fabian Clay’s name at the bottom. It was a personal training invitation, promising bloodline techniques that no Winthrop trainer would know. An address for his new office thirty blocks from Apex. The language was careful, respectful, technical, and framed as an offer between specialists rather than a personal approach. I recognized it for what it was immediately, both a legitimate training offer and a direct approach from someone who had been thinking about me since the resort and had chosen the most justifiable vehicle available. I sat back in my chair and let the cursor hover over the reply button without clicking. The cracked amulet under my blouse warmed against my skin, a low steady heat that had become almost familiar. Fabian’s icy eyes from the resort dining hall rose in my memory—the way they

  • Her Alpha’s Kryptonite   CHAPTER 57: Jasmine Meets Abe

Jasmine’s POV Abe shook my hand in the Apex lobby and his eyes stayed on my face a second longer than the handshake required. Something moved through his expression—not recognition exactly, but the thing adjacent to it. The look of a man encountering in person something he had only heard in the abstract and finding the reality considerably more than the documents had prepared him for. His easy manner reasserted itself without a visible seam. “Abe Woodrowstaff,” he said. The smile was bright, genuine, and just slightly too aware. “You must be Jasmine. Tristan’s been stingy with details. I’m beginning to see why.” I withdrew my hand at a normal pace and kept my expression polite. The lobby moved around us in its usual mid-morning flow—employees crossing the floors, the soft chime of elevators, the distant click of heels. Tristan stood a half-step to my right, close enough that I could feel the controlled weight of his presence without looking at him. I watched Tristan watch Abe dur

  • Her Alpha’s Kryptonite   CHAPTER 56: The Prague Lead

Tristan’s POV Abe spread the photographs across the restaurant table with the quick, precise motions of a man who had been holding the information too long and could finally set it down. His energy was bright, focused, and almost restless. We sat in the same spot we did during our last meeting. Each image landed in sequence, and he talked through them without pause, voice low enough that the surrounding tables remained undisturbed. “The suppression artifact is in a sealed vault beneath a Prague cathedral,” he said. “Not the tourist sections. The sub-levels the Church stopped acknowledging about two centuries ago. It was used to bind a cursed alpha bloodline in the 1700s. The binding held, and the alpha in question lived out the rest of his life stable enough to die of ordinary age instead of the fracture. The artifact has been sitting there ever since, waiting for someone to remember it exists.” I studied each photograph with careful attention, the stone corridor showed water dama

  • Her Alpha’s Kryptonite   CHAPTER 55: Abe Woodrowstaff

Tristan’s POV The note arrived on hotel stationery. I recognized the handwriting before I read a single word. The same loose, confident script I had last seen on a research brief from the European expedition that never fully launched. Abe Woodrowstaff, an artifact hunter. He was dangerous in the way of men who treated ancient knowledge like a conversation rather than a weapon. I stood at my desk and pressed my thumb against the rune diagram drawn in the center of the page. The lines were precise, old and looked like the kind of marking that did not appear in ordinary correspondence. The curse marks on my wrist spread two millimeters under the contact, a low burn that climbed toward my elbow before I lifted my hand. I folded the note once, then again, and slid it into my inner pocket. The paper sat against my chest like a second pulse. Abe was already seated in the restaurant when I arrived, at a corner table, with clear sightlines, and his back to the wall in the way of someone wh
