It was after midnight when we arrived at the Blood Moon. Their territory was to the north, reaching way up to the mountains. We passed a small town, lying hidden in a valley, and Noah turned on a winding serpentine.
The packhouse was even deeper in the forest, and I suddenly remembered that none of our informants could tell where the main building exactly was. They hid it well, I thought, as I got a glimpse of lights behind the trees. I was sure it was well protected, too.
Noah stopped the car in front of the old manor, and I just stared in awe. Even in the dark, it was beautiful. It may have been old, but they took good care of it. It was way smaller than our mansion, I thought, as Duncan opened the door for me and I got out. It had lovely, homey vibes, and I totally loved it. He offered me his hand, and I gladly accepted. I even gave him a little smile.
“You are back,” a petite girl opened the main door, and I saw her freeze the moment she saw me, and the smile died on her face.
“Dear, I told you not to wait for me,” Duncan hugged the girl as we got to the entrance.
“And you knew I would do it anyway,” she answered with a half-smile.
I could feel jealousy burning up inside me as I watched my mate kissing the girl’s forehead. My wolf was stirring, but I commanded her back. It doesn’t mean anything; I tried to convince myself. Duncan was probably testing my limits, I thought, as he looked at me above the girl’s head. And even though my head knew better, it was hard to convince my heart not to be jealous. Even harder with my wolf.
“Who is she?” The girl stepped away from Duncan and looked at me again.
“She is my mate, dear. I just found her at the Blue Moon, and she came home with me,” he explained.
“Hi,” I smiled at her. “My name is Moira. Nice to meet you,” I offered her a hand.
“Luna,” she nodded politely, then quickly disappeared.
Duncan turned to me again and guided me to the big stairs. He didn’t explain, and I would bite off my tongue if needed, but wouldn’t ask him. I wouldn’t give him the pleasure of seeing me jealous.
It would be quite ironic if I landed from one love tingle to another. Only this time I would be at the other end of it. I could only hope it was not the case, because I wasn’t sure I had it in me to do it once again.
We went up, and he guided me to a room at the end of the corridor on the third floor. He opened the door for me, and I stepped in. The room was big and comfy. I looked around, on the neatly made king-sized bed, to a big commode with one of its drawers half open. There was a bookshelf in the corner with a big comfy armchair, and a huge wardrobe on the far wall.
“It is your room,” I said, no doubt about it.
“It is ours now,” he hugged me from behind, and I shivered as his hot breath fanned my neck. He started kissing my neck, and I could feel his member getting hard against my ass. He caressed my stomach and my thighs began trembling as his hands ran lower. I turned in his hold and put my arms around his neck.
“Let me have a shower first,” I murmured. I was sure I looked like a big mess.
“You are procrastinating,” he said with one eyebrow raised. “I won’t let you go tonight,” he murmured darkly as he proceeded to kiss my neck, making me shiver.
“I am not.” I moved away a little to look him in the eyes. Have I mentioned how beautiful his eyes were? Oh my Goddess, I lost already. “I don’t want you to let go. I want to be yours. But forgive me the female vanity that I want to be perfect when my mate takes me for the first time.”
“You are perfect, just like this,” he murmured, running his hands up and down my side.
“Please.” I tried to make the best puppy eyes I could manage.
“I will get you your stuff,” he gave up with an unsatisfied growl and let me go. “But you won’t be able to get away.”
“I won’t run. I just take a shower. Promise,” I smiled at him.
He just growled and left me alone. I took a deep breath and looked around the room again, till I fought my wolf inside my head. She didn’t like my idea. She just wanted to be his. But I wanted it to be meaningful, and I wasn’t quite comfortable with my current messed-up state.
“Here it is. I will give you 15 minutes.” Duncan threw my bag on the floor and left again. I could tell that his wolf wasn’t happy with my idea, either. Not even the man. But he let me have my way, and it made me happy.
I quickly got my stuff and ran to the bathroom. It wasn’t that homey. I only saw a toothbrush and a razor. Soap and some shampoo in the shower. That’s it. Otherwise, it was clean and neat, but quite empty.
My things soon took up the place as I stood in front of the mirror.
I looked like hell. The light make-up I put on for the evening was long gone, my mascara showing the route of each and every tear I cried tonight. My eyes were puffy and red, my lips dry. How could he say I was perfect, just like this? I rolled my eyes and quickly undressed.
Quickly getting rid of the remains of my makeup and jumped into the shower, and started cleaning myself under the hot water. A shiver ran down my body at the thought of him touching me again. I long gave up on finding my mate. I was already 23 and never thought that he would just walk in after all these years. Now, I was even more nervous than the night I lost my virginity.
Would he be gentle with me? Or rough? Would he hurt me? He had a reputation for being cruel and merciless, but that was the Alpha. How was the man?
I dried myself and looked in the mirror again. It was much better. Some color crept onto my face, and my eyes were not that red anymore. I dug into my bag and found a lace nightgown I bought on a whim but never wore. It was just perfect for tonight.
I never considered myself beautiful, but I was fine, I guess. I had plain brown hair with ordinary brown eyes and an average face. Also, I had an hourglass shape with round hips and big tits, men usually loved. I was always prone to gaining some extra weight, but the past few months with all the training and stuff made me look better than ever.
I quickly brushed my hair, and it nearly reached my hips this way. That was all I could do, I thought, when I heard him returning to the room. I smiled at my reflection, turned the light off, and went back to the room.
It was half dark in the room, only the small lamp on the nightstand giving some light. Duncan stood in front of the closet, getting rid of his suit jacket, kicking his shoes in the corner. He heard me come in and looked at me over his shoulder.
He dropped the jacket the minute he saw me.
“I’m ready to be yours, Alpha Duncan,” I smiled at him, with my heart beating in my throat. I could see his eyes darken, and I felt myself blush under his gaze.
He moved too fast to see and in the next moment, I was in his arms, kissing each other passionately. I let him dominate the kiss, and I returned his every move willingly. When it felt like I couldn’t breathe anymore, he broke the kiss and put his forehead against mine. I ran my hands down from his shoulder to his chest and I could feel his heart beating just as fast and crazy as my own.
I started undoing his buttons, and he leaned to kiss my neck. He wasn’t so freaking tall, so we fitted just perfectly. I pushed the shirt off of his shoulders to touch his hot skin, but I felt scars on his back and hesitated. What could have happened to him? It was so rare for us to heal with a scar, yet he had so many…
He must have felt my uneasiness, because he gently bit my neck where his mark would go and I quickly forgot everything. He didn’t mark me yet, but still. Pleasure ran through my body as he sucked on the sensitive skin.
He grabbed my butt and pulled me even closer. A moan escaped my lips as he started massaging my mounds forcefully, not letting go of my neck, either. I held onto his shoulders as I helplessly trembled under his hands. I could feel myself getting wet, and my knees slowly turning into jelly.
Things started falling apart a week later, when one morning Warren and Bran hadn’t returned. Everybody was on alert already, when Bran finally linked Duncan, reporting that they found a hideout. He said that there was a big movement, and they were probably preparing for something, but their leaders were not there. He left his group there to find out more, while he and Warren went ahead looking for the witch. Duncan decided that if they managed to find the rogue’s headquarters, he would take his best warriors and attack them before they could start attacking our borders. With that being said, the whole pack turned upside down the minute he dismissed the morning assembly. It may have seemed like total chaos, but in fact, everything was pretty well organized. All our warriors reported to the training grounds, where Noah and Gabriel organized them in small units, all ready to take off anytime. Duncan sent Caleb down to the village to make sure that everyone would be safe if something
“What’s going on here?” I heard Duncan’s cold voice, and it helped me come back to my senses. He was quite dangerous when he sounded like that, but oddly enough, it made me relax.“I believe we need to talk,” I told Warren as I stood from his chest, and held out my hand to help him up.Duncan just studied us with cold eyes, and I had no doubt about Gabriel telling him everything through their link.“You can go and hold your training. I’m staying with them,” he finally said. For a long moment, Gabriel just studied us with a dark gaze, then nodded and left. Marissa looked worried, but I sent her a reassuring smile, and she left us too.“Care to explain?” Duncan asked, his voice still calm, but by now I knew he sounded like that when on the inside he was anything but calm.“Warren decided to help with my training,” I answered, not looking away from him, as he absentmindedly rubbed his chest where I stabbed him. “But in the meantime, he showed me something interesting.”“Like what?” Dunca
Things settled down a little once more, but everyone was uneasy. It was like the silence before the storm.I sat in my usual armchair, listening to the reports, but they were the same as every morning in the past week.Duncan strengthened our border patrols on the east, from the ridge up north to the Blue Moon border on the south, not trusting their security one bit after the last incident. That meant we pretty much left the western borders unattended, but Warren and his men from the Crimson were going back and forth all the time anyway, and Duncan was pretty confident about Alpha Blackwood keeping the Silver Moon quiet and secure. But no matter how tight we kept security, patrols reported no rogue movement, or anything unusual.Bran and Warren returned empty-handed again, too. They found nothing on the first two nights, but then they found something that they believed to be a lead. But that turned out to be a dead end.Just like the other three, they found after that. They only manag
After everything that happened today, all I wanted was to snuggle up in bed and sleep for maybe two days, but of course, I couldn’t do that. What I got was a little snooze with Rosie when I tucked her in, and I fell asleep with her after reading. To tell the truth, it felt salutary. The love this little angel gave me and her unborn little siblings was intangible and really warmed my heart. To Duncan’s credit, he really tried not waking me. He came to check on us, and kept really silent, but I guess I just felt him, and woke when he was about to leave.“Wait for me,” I called after him, carefully getting up, not to wake Rosie.“You don’t have to come. Just stay with her and rest a little,” he offered, stopping at the door.“I want to come. Just a minute,” I answered, putting a stuffed animal in Rosie’s arms to take my place.“You are one stubborn woman,” he commented, and I just smiled.“That is one of my charms, is it not?” I grinned at him, wrapping my arm around his.“We are taking
It was the longest 20 minutes of my life till I ran straight to the Blue Moon’s packhouse. With car, taking the road, it was about a 45 minutes’ ride, but going straight down the mountainside, it was about a 20-30 minutes run, depending on your speed.I was pretty sure Duncan made a new record.“They let them through, Luna. The rogues came from the Blue Moon,” Noah’s words rang in my head all along.I was sure it was all just a misunderstanding. They would never do it on purpose. I knew it. Something must have happened, but if Duncan was mad enough to go straight to see Richard like this, I wasn’t sure if he would listen. He must be seeing red right now.Oh dear Goddess, he is going to kill Richard.“They are already there,” Noah informed me. “Caleb and Derek are with him, but they won’t stop him.”“Almost there,” I answered, cursing to myself.I would have been faster if I shifted, but I didn’t want to push my luck after what the doctor said, and also, I didn’t want to face my old pa
In the morning, I couldn’t remember anything about the dream, but I felt like shit. I was sleepy, with a growing headache, and my morning sickness was worse than ever. After I spent the entire morning in the bathroom, Ducan called the doctor on me, but he found nothing. He gave me some pills I could take if needed and told me to take it easy. “Don’t look at me like that.” I looked up at Duncan’s worried face above my mug. “You heard the doc. It’s nothing serious,” I tried reassuring him, as I took two pills with Mrs. Stevenson’s magic tea. I have been drinking this thing for weeks now, but I still haven’t figured out what she put into it. Not like it mattered. It did miracles to my poor stomach, and I was eternally grateful. “Still. You should take it easy today,” he sighed, kneeling next to me. “I will, don’t worry,” I squeezed his hand. “My only appointment is with Rosie in the afternoon,” I grinned, and he managed to smile back. By then, I felt totally fine, so I went for Rosi
