Mistakes that can lead to disputes

Katherina woke up in the hospital, groggy and confused. Katherina tried to sit up, but a wave of pain shot through her head. She put a hand to her head and groaned. A nurse came rushing in, alerted by the sound of her discomfort.

"You're in the hospital," a very intense fine male voice said. "I'm so sorry this happened"

Katherina's eyes widened as she took in Harrison's face. He was tall and broad-shouldered, with piercing blue eyes and a strong jawline. He looked every bit the part of a classic leading man.

"Do I know you?" she asked, her eyes searching his face for any clue. Harrison hesitated, unsure of how to answer.

"I don't think we've met before," he said finally. "But I'm glad I was able to help you." Katherina furrowed her brow, trying to make sense of it all.

Harrison leaned forward, looking at her with gentle curiosity. "What's your name?" he asked, his voice soft.

But then, Katherina hesitated. Something about this whole situation felt off. Why was Harrison so interested in her? And why did he seem so familiar, even though she was sure they had never met before?

"I'm sorry, I'm not comfortable sharing my last name with you," she said, a hint of defensiveness in her voice. Harrison's expression shifted, and he seemed to understand her reticence.

"That's okay," he said, his tone nonchalant. "The nurse will be in shortly to get your information," Harrison said, gesturing to the door. "I'm sure they'll need your name and some other basic information."

Katherina nodded, relaxing slightly. She was still a bit on edge, but Harrison's easygoing manner was helping to put her at ease.

Katherina's eyes landed on the tag inside Harrison's jacket, and her heart skipped a beat. "PY," she read aloud. "That's my label!" she said to her self.

Katherina knew that the suit was one of her most expensive designs, and she was flattered that Harrison had chosen to wear it. But she didn't want to reveal too much about her work, and she certainly didn't want to seem too eager.

Just then, the nurse entered the room, clipboard in hand.

"Hi, I'm Janine," she said, introducing herself. "I just need to get some basic information from you." She looked at Katherina expectantly. Katherina took a deep breath, trying to focus. She rattled off her name, date of birth, and address, trying to push all thoughts of Harrison and his suit from her mind. "Great, thank you," Janine said, making a note on her clipboard.

Janine cleared her throat, her professional demeanor taking over. "Your IV drip is all done," she said. "Would you like to take care of your bill now?"

Katherina felt a wave of panic wash over her. She had no idea how much the treatment would cost, and she was worried she wouldn't be able to afford it.

"I'm not sure if I can pay for this right now," she admitted, her voice cracking. Janine gave her a sympathetic look.

Katherina took a deep breath and prepared to explain the situation. "I know this sounds crazy, but you actually hit me with your car this morning," she said, her voice quivering. "And I woke up here, in this hospital, without knowing how I got here. I just...I need some help figuring this out."

Harrison looked at Katherina, trying to process what she had just said. "I'm sorry, this is a lot to take in," he said, his voice full of compassion. "But I'll sign the bills, and we can figure out what happened." Katherina let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank you so much," she said, her shoulders relaxing.

As the nurse left the room, she couldn't help but smile to herself. Katherina and Harrison were clearly fond of each other, and she thought they would make a cute couple. She couldn't help but feel a little bit like a matchmaker. Back in the room, Katherina and Harrison looked at each other, both feeling a little bit awkward.

Katherina's eyes followed Harrison's hand as he reached into his inner pocket. She felt a wave of panic wash over her, thinking that he was about to give her money. She wasn't sure how to react, and she didn't want to accept charity. But to her surprise, Harrison pulled out his phone.

"I know this looks bad, but I promise you, I didn't hit you with my car," Harrison said, his voice urgent. He held out his phone and showed Katherina the footage from his dash cam. Sure enough, the video showed that he had swerved to avoid her, and there was no contact between his car and her body.

Katherina's cheeks flushed red with embarrassment. She couldn't believe she had jumped to the wrong conclusion, and she felt like an idiot. She grabbed her things and stood up, ready to leave.

"I'm so sorry," she said, avoiding Harrison's gaze. "I...I have to go." She quickly left the room, feeling humiliated. Harrison watched as Katherina hurried out of the room, her head down. He opened his mouth to call after her, but she was already gone. He glanced at her phone, which was still lying on the bedside table. He considered whether or not to try and return it to her.

As Katherina made her way down the hospital corridor, she saw someone familiar out of the corner of her eye. She turned and found herself face to face with her brother, Nathaniel.

Nathaniel stepped aside, revealing an elderly man who was using a walker to get around.

"It's so nice to see you Katherina" the elderly man who's last name was Steele said.

Katherina crouched down and gave Mr. Steele a gentle hug. He was so frail, and she didn't want to hurt him. He held on to her for a moment, before letting go.

"You're such a kind soul," he said, his eyes shining. "Your brother is a lucky man to have you as a sister." Katherina blushed, and Nathaniel laughed.

"Mr. Steele, you're going to make my sister's head swell with all these compliments," he said, shaking his head.

"What happened? Why are you here at the hospital?" Nathaniel asked, his tone serious. Katherina told him about the events of that morning, from the mysterious text message to the accident with Harrison's car. Nathaniel listened intently, his face growing more concerned as she spoke. When she finished, he let out a long sigh.

"What a mess," he said, running a hand through his hair.

They all entered the elevator together, unaware that Harrison was walking down the hall, a few yards away. As the elevator doors closed, Katherina and Nathaniel continued to talk about what had happened that morning.

"I'm so glad you're okay," Nathaniel said, his voice full of concern. "And I'm glad you're here with me," Katherina said, giving her brother a small smile.

Nathaniel's phone started ringing, and he pulled it out of his pocket to answer it.

"Hello?" he said, and a voice came through the line. "Hi, is this Nathaniel?" the voice asked. Nathaniel's brow furrowed in confusion.

"Yes, this is he," he said, his voice cautious.

"I'm calling about your sister, Katherina," the voice said.

Nathaniel held up his phone so that Katherina could see the screen. On it was the name "Andrew" and a picture of her boyfriend. Katherina's eyes widened, and she felt a knot of dread in her stomach.

"Do you want me to put her on speaker?" Nathaniel asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It's better if I talk to Katherina directly," Andrew said, his voice sounding firm. Nathaniel nodded and handed the phone to Katherina. She took it, her hand trembling slightly.

"Hi, Andrew," she said, her voice quavering.

"What's going on?" Andrew took a deep breath, and Katherina could hear the tension in his voice.

"What do you mean what?", Katherina asked.

"You've been declining my call all morning"

"I never declined your calls," Katherina said, her brow furrowing. "My phone has been on silent all morning."

Andrew was silent for a moment, clearly confused. "Are you sure?" he asked, his voice sounding skeptical.

"Yes, I'm positive," Katherina said, her frustration mounting. "I wouldn't just ignore your calls like that." Andrew was silent again, and Katherina could hear him breathing heavily.

"Why did a man answer the phone when I called?" Andrew asked, his voice sounding suspicious. Andrew was quiet for a moment, processing what she had said.

Katherina reached into her bag, searching for her phone. But it wasn't there. She felt a wave of panic wash over her. "My phone isn't in my bag," she said, her voice full of alarm. Nathaniel looked at her, his eyes wide.

"Are you sure?" he asked, his voice tinged with concern. Katherina nodded, her mind racing. "I had it when I left the house this morning," she said, her thoughts spinning.

Katherina's eyes widened as the realization hit her. "Harrison has my phone," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Nathaniel looked at her, his expression grave.

"That's not good," he said, his voice low. Katherina felt like the walls were closing in on her.

"What do I do?" she asked, her voice trembling. "We need to find a way to get your phone back," Nathaniel said, his voice firm.

As they were talking, the elevator came to a stop on the ground floor. The doors opened, and the nurse who had attended to Katherina earlier was standing there, looking at them.

Katherina took a deep breath and addressed the nurse directly. "Have you seen the man who brought me to the hospital?" she asked, her voice quavering.

"I remember him leaving," the nurse said, her face thoughtful. "He seemed to be in a hurry."

Katherina's heart was pounding in her chest. "Did he say anything?" she asked, her voice urgent.

"No," the nurse said, her expression apologetic. "I'm sorry I can't be more helpful." Katherina bit her lip, feeling frustrated and helpless.

Katherina walked out of the hospital, her head spinning. She looked around, searching for any sign of Harrison. Then, she saw him. He was getting into a black SUV, his back to her.

Katherina stared at the car as it drove away, and she saw something that made her blood run cold. Harrison had a grin on his face. He had seemed so kind and concerned in the hospital, but now he looked like a completely different person. He looked smug and self-satisfied, as if he had just won a game.

"This story is not going well" Katherina said, her voice barely audible.
