Instead of driving back to her apartment where she knew Ross might be waiting, she stopped at a park, just two blocks from where she lived. She had to tell him her real feelings now, she knew she had already accepted Masons proposal, there was no way she could say no to him. She didn’t have the guts.

The small park wasn’t often overcrowded at this hour of the morning. Mostly children and nannies or young pre-schoolers playing. The contract was stuffed into her bag and she clutched it against her side as she made her way to an empty bench the farthest distance from the playground where she could be sure of some measure of privacy. 

Mason’s autocratic demand that she quit and come to work for him echoed in her mind. Although she could very well live off of the men in life for as long as she wanted but the money Chris had put into her education, she needed to figure out her next step, and to somehow make her feel good that she wasn’t completel
