CHAPTER 63

Casey POV

It was official. No matter how tired I claimed to be, it was impossible to sleep on the roof of a building when I knew it was full of the infected. Even with most of my body resting on Thomas, I still couldn't seem to turn my brain off.

I would've been freaking out if it wasn't for Thomas. Just listening to his steady breathing gave me more comfort than he would ever know. Somehow Thomas had fallen asleep, but I couldn't blame him. He'd barely slept in the past week.

Somewhere nearby, birds began to chirp in harmony as the morning light slowly flooded into the night's sky. Grumbling in the distance warned us that rain was in our definite future.
