It was Thanksgiving Day and, other than Christmas, it was the only time of year when all of Olivia’s family was back together under the same roof at the same time. Her sisters would come home, bring their families, and stay in their childhood bedrooms. Her brother lived in the pack with his son and mate, which meant she got to see them often, unlike her sisters, who had moved to their mates’ packs.

Olivia sat on her bed with her laptop, finalizing her route and where she would stop along the w

Olivia sat in the passenger seat of her SUV as they drove to the cottage to get her things. She pulled Tyson’s coat tighter around her, taking in its warm, spicy aroma. She didn’t know whether it was the smell of his jacket or the heat of his hand holding hers, but something was helping her stay calm, and she was thankful for it. She felt his grip on her hand tighten when she took a shuddering breath. She was thinking about her family. She was afraid for them. Afraid of what Alpha Nicholas would do to them if she did not return to him. She could not understand why he was behaving the way he was. They were not mates. They both knew that. It would make sense if they had been mates who had marked each other. But to act this way after a single one-night stand was incomprehensible to her. A sense of dread washed over her when they turned onto the county road that led to the cottage. Something felt wrong. As her body tensed involuntarily, she felt Tyson squeeze her hand. They turned into

Nicholas was standing in the middle of his ransacked office. He had flipped his desk over, thrown his chair across the room, and broken everything he could get his hands on except Olivia’s pictures. The photographs hanging on his walls were untouched. Perfect, just like his little fairy who had taken them. “Nick, I’m coming in,” Jacob mind linked him from outside the door. Jacob shoved hard on the door to push it open with debris from smashed furniture against it. Then, he cautiously stepped in and closed it behind him, rendering the room soundproof again. Nicholas growled at him, “Do you know where she is yet?” “No. She didn’t tell anyone where she was going. She called her mother, but it was from a burner phone so that we couldn’t track it. So far, there is no response to the email you sent out,” Jacob told him. “They are lying,” Nick muttered, running his hands through his hair. “Everyone I have spoken to is telling the truth. They do not know where Olivia is.” “How can they

Andi, the waitress at the diner, walked up and began setting their plates in front of them. “How are you two gentlemen doing? It has been a while since you have been in to say hi.” Devon replied, “We have been good except for this one refusing to come out here every weekend so I can get my fix from your chili cheese fries.” “Tyson, you shouldn’t be so mean to him,” Andi chided as she placed Olivia’s chef salad in front of her. “Devon forgets that it is an hour’s drive to get here, and we both have jobs. He is welcome to come here without me as often as he likes,” Tyson said as he looked disapprovingly at it. “He can even bring the wife and kids if he wants.” “Fat chance of that,” Devon laughed. “I come here with you to get away from the wife and kids.” Andi chuckled, “Devon, you’re terrible. Olivia, I will bring you another cup of coffee since you didn’t get to enjoy your last one.” “Thank you, Andi,” Olivia replied as she began to load her fork with salad. “No problem, sweethe

Olivia looked the man up and down carefully before she spoke. “You’re Tyson Emery?” “I am, and I feel I should be honest with you. I’m sure you know I intended to be at the Halloween party. What you don’t know is my motive was you,” Tyson told her with a smile. “Me? Why me?” “Because Nick had been bragging about you and sending me examples of your work. I was going to find out what he was paying you and offer you twice the amount to come work for me.” Olivia was utterly gobsmacked. She had eked out a living as a photographer and was ecstatic to receive what she was paid at Dark Moon Industries. For someone she had never met to say he would pay her twice that, no matter what it was, was nearly beyond her comprehension. “Why would you do that?” she asked accusingly. “Because Nick sent me the link to your photo storage. Your photos are a reflection of your soul, and you have a beautiful soul. I was crushed when fog kept me in Chicago, but fate has intervened and brought us together

Tyson Emery was bounced out of his slumber as the car dropped into a deep pothole. He scowled at Devon, who was driving their SUV and now smirking as he kept his eyes glued to the road in front of them. “Did you aim for that one?” Tyson grumbled as he shifted in his seat. “No. I did not aim for that one or any of the others I hit. It isn’t my fault that the road is full of holes,” Devon said defensively. “That might be true, but it was your idea to come out here and relax for a while.” “Ty, you will thank me for this later. I have a feeling,” Devon told him with a grin. Tyson huffed as he tried to get comfortable in his seat again. Devon had somehow persuaded him that they should go out to a cabin in Blue Hills, Oregon, owned by Emery Technologies. The town was small and isolated, giving the two dragons a chance to shift and fly without many questions being asked. Tyson heard his phone ding with a new email as he tried to relax. He closed his eyes and ignored it. Whatever it was

Alpha Nicholas Williams was pacing in his office at Dark Moon Industries. It had been a week since Olivia Cook emailed him her resignation letter, making her leave from the company effective immediately. He was livid. Nick had wanted to see her when she returned from the Thanksgiving holiday and apologize. To tell her that he had been an idiot and he couldn’t stop thinking about her or their baby. She had taken that away from him and dropped off the map. “Did you find her?” he asked Jacob as soon as he opened the office door. “No,” Jacob said cautiously as he closed the door. “I have not found her yet.” “Why not?!” Nicholas demanded as he punctuated his anger by smashing his coffee cup on the floor. “Why not?” Jacob scoffed. “Because she is smart and wants to avoid you at all costs.” “Were you able to track her phone?” “Yes, for a while. But it looks like she has switched to a burner phone and changed her number because you would not stop calling her.” “I want to explain and te
