Chapter 2

Author: Anonymous
As Olivia grew angry, a trace of satisfaction flashed through Tucker's eyes.

Even so, he asked with concern, "Is Liam upset with you?"

Olivia's face was full of irritation.

"Yes. He thinks that just because he donated a kidney to you, I should be grateful to him. It's ridiculous."

Tucker seemed even more pleased. Testing the waters, he asked, "Do you think he'll badmouth you to Ava?"

Ava was my daughter.

She disliked Tucker because whenever Olivia wasn't around, he constantly belittled her, humiliated her, and called her a b*st*rd.

Yet Olivia believed I was the one poisoning Ava against him behind her back, and we argued about it time and time again.

Hearing Tucker's question only darkened her expression.

"Let him do whatever he wants! Because of Ava, I had to marry him and leave you. I've had enough..."

A ghost's thoughts moved slowly, but I still felt a sharp ache in my chest.

It was true. Olivia had never married me willingly.

The person she loved had always been Tucker.

Back then, however, Tucker spent his days fooling around and flirting with other women, never keeping clear boundaries with any of them. In a fit of anger, Olivia asked me out.

That night, she became pregnant.

Her father, Arthur Dane, the president of Dane Group, was a stern and ruthless man.

He had never approved of her relationship with Tucker, who had nothing to his name, and instead had always thought highly of me.

When Olivia became pregnant, he took the opportunity to force her to marry me.

However, after we got married, Tucker came looking for Olivia again.

He admitted his mistakes and cried bitterly.

He claimed Arthur had told him he wasn't worthy of Olivia, so he had deliberately pretended to pursue other women in hopes that Olivia would become disappointed in him.

Yet when Olivia really married someone else, he regretted it.

Olivia cried her heart out.

From that day on, she resented Ava and me.

What she didn't know was that Tucker was nothing more than a scumbag who was all show and no substance.

Arthur had never stooped to threatening him. Tucker was simply irresponsible and promiscuous by nature.

He had even planned to marry Olivia, kill her, and then take control of Dane Group.

Over the years, I managed the company for Olivia, took care of everything at home and at work, and cherished her with all my heart. All because I hoped she would see Tucker's true colors one day and finally turn around to look at Ava and me.

But even in death, I never got that chance.

Tucker naturally knew exactly what Olivia was thinking and took the opportunity to ask, "Olivia, I can't bear seeing you stay with someone you don't love. Why don't you get a divorce?"

Hesitation appeared on Olivia's face.

There was no doubt that Olivia disliked me.

She had never treated me warmly, nor had she ever shown much affection toward Ava.

The only time she ever pretended to be pitiful in front of me was when she wanted me to donate a kidney to Tucker.

Yet, I had diligently managed the company and cared for her in every possible way. After so many years of marriage, she found herself unable to imagine what life would be like without me.

A moment of silence later, Olivia said, "Let's wait a little longer. You know what Liam is like. He always runs to my dad and complains...

"My dad would never allow me to get divorced."

Because of Tucker, Olivia had fallen out with the father who loved her.

And over the past few years, Arthur's health had deteriorated badly.

Feeling sorry for them, I often helped create opportunities for them to reconnect so they could sit down and talk openly.

I never expected that, in Olivia's eyes, everything I did amounted to "running to her father and complaining".

Floating in midair, I laughed at myself.

Olivia didn't need to worry.

I was already dead and would never "complain" again.

If she found out, would she be happy?

A flash of malice crossed Tucker's eyes, like a venomous snake lurking in the forest after being rejected.

However, he quickly concealed it and replaced it with an expectant look.

"It's okay... Then could you lend me some money? I want to start a company.

"You know, I grew up poor. I've always envied how Liam dominates the business world..."

Olivia's heart immediately softened.

"Of course. The Danes have plenty of money! What's mine is yours!

"As for Liam, he can't do anything right. The only thing he's useful for is making money."

How easy for her to say!

I worked late into the night, ran around every day, and drank so much at business functions that I developed stomach bleeding, all to take Dane Group to greater heights.

Yet the money I earned through all that hard work was casually handed over to Tucker by Olivia.

What exactly did she think I was?

Floating in midair, I clenched my fists and then slowly loosened them again as a strange sense of satisfaction mixed with pain surged through me.

Olivia would find out eventually that I had died because I donated that kidney.

To my surprise, I was looking forward to it.

What kind of expression would Olivia have then?

Panic? Or satisfaction?

Just then, Olivia's phone suddenly rang.

She answered it, and a kindergarten teacher's voice came from the other end.

"Hello, Ms. Dane. May I ask why Ava didn't come to school today?"

Hehe. They're dead, and now you regret it. What's the point of regretting it?"When you go to sleep at night, don't you dream about your Liam? Your Ava?"When they died, they were probably regretting it too. Please stop talking!"Seeing the situation spiraling out of control, the police quickly restrained Tucker and escorted him into a patrol car.

The officers walked up to Tucker, showed their badges, and said, "Mr. Pritchett, you are suspected of being involved in a case of intentional homicide. We'd like you to come with us."What?I stared at Tucker in shock.I had always thought the accident was just that—an accident. I never imagined it had been planned.Even Arthur looked stunned.Meanwhile, Olivia rushed forward without hesitation and said to the officers, "That's impossible! Tucker would never do something like that!""I'm Ava's mother. I can guarantee that the accident was just an accident..."The officers were taken aback, probably having never encountered a mother like this before, but they still explained patiently."Whether it was an accident or not will be determined by the investigation. And even if it was an accident, Mr. Pritchett is still responsible..."The worry on Olivia's face was almost tangible. Hurriedly, she asked, "Responsible? If I sign a letter forgiving him, will it help?"A letter forgivi

"Liam, I failed you. If there's a next life, I'll spend it making it up to you..."My heart tightened at his words, and instinctively, I reached out to support him.
