Aria's POV

“Mrs Anna.”

Lucy and Joy sprang from their chairs the moment they realised the woman standing behind us.

I quickly lowered my head, hiding my face as I brushed off the tears from my cheeks with the back of my hand.

Mrs Anna's gaze swept over the table before settling on me.

“Mrs Sterling, you shouldn't be having breakfast here." Her tone was polite. “This cafe is reserved for staff. It's not appropriate for the CEO's wife to dine here.”

My expression hardened. Before I could res

Aria's POV “Mrs Anna.” Lucy and Joy sprang from their chairs the moment they realised the woman standing behind us. It's not appropriate for the CEO's wife to dine here.”My expression hardened. Before I could respond, Joy and Lucy hurriedly pushed their chairs back. “We're sorry, Mrs Sterling. We shouldn't have sat here with you.” They took their breakfast trays and hurried toward another table. I watched them go as a strange emptiness settled inside me. At least they’re the only people I can feel comfortable with.Mrs Anna gestured towards the way. “Please come with me to the VIP dining section. Your meal can be served there.”I glanced around. That's when I noticed several employees had stopped eating

Aria's POV The next morning, the cafe was filled with the pleasant aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries. Mila, Lucy and Joy sat around the table with me as their laughter filled the space. “Really?” Mila burst out laughing. “I wish I could have seen the old woman's face yesterday.”Joy covered her mouth, trying to suppress another laugh. “No wonder the whole company was buzzing with gossip.” “And everyone was praising Isabella,” Lucy added. Their voices faded into the background. I stared down at my untouched cup of coffee. I couldn't hear them properly anymore. All I could think of was the chaos that happened last night: the gunshots, David, and a lot of questions running through my mind. What is the connection between Isabella and the Boss? Why is he so interested in her? And who is this David? And…I recalled the strange man I met the day I was trying to escape to the airport. The way he extended his gloved hand, offering it to me like a dark invitation. “Isabella

Aria's POV “Mr Sterling, can we talk for a minute?”Alexander paused halfway across the living room and glanced over his shoulder.“No… I…” His brows drew together as he turned toward me. “I mean… I thought I heard you calling me Alex.”Alex? Oh.“Yes,” I quickly nodded. “I was trying to call you Alexander, but I got confused for a moment. I don't know what happened. I just… shortened your name by mistake. I'm sorry.”His expression barely changed, but I caught the disappointment that flickered across his face. It was subtle. Almost as if he'd been hoping my answer would be different. Why would he think that in the first place?“I’ll leave you two," Mila announced. She gave me a curious look before heading toward her room. Williams had already gone to the guesthouse to freshen up, while the remaining maids had retired for the night. Within seconds, only Alexander and I remained in the spacious living room, surrounded by an uncomfortable silence. The soft glow from the lights spread

Alexander's POV “Mr Sterling, please... It's not their fault. It was my decision.”“And that your decision of yours will keep putting other people into trouble.”“I couldn't think straight. The only thought I had was to save you.”“Then is this how to save me? By being captured.”“But I still saved myself. Didn't you see how I taught that guy a lesson?" “There is no point talking to you.”The vehicles arrived as Franco and the rest came down."Sir..." “Let's go home, Aria.”I wasn't in the mood to talk to them. “Sir, we're sorry; we tried our best to stop Mrs Sterling, but she was so determined to meet you.”“Did I ask you anything?” “No sir.” They lowered their heads. “We'll settle this at home; let's go. It is no longer safe here.” Williams climbed into one of the vehicles with the guards, while I opened the passenger door of another vehicle for

Alexander's POV Williams and I moved through the building, keeping low as bullets struck the walls around us. We fired at anyone who crossed our path. My heart hammered against my ribs, not because of the gunfight. Because Aria was here, and she was dangerously close to David. He was the last man I wanted anywhere near her.We finally reached the upper level, and I heard a familiar voice.“Stop right there!”My feet stopped. I looked ahead. Aria stood in the middle with her hands raised. While David was aiming the gun at her. I clenched my fist as my blood ran cold. He stared at her as if the rest of the world had disappeared. I knew that look. And now the woman he believed was dead was standing in front of him. He knew she was alive and trying all his best to get her. He wanted to see for himself if she's truly her. He lowered his gun and opened his arms. He was going to touch her. Never.

Aria's POV Everything happened at once. I ducked just as another gunshot rang through the air. My heart pounded so much that I could hear it in my ears.“Mrs Sterling, move.” One of the men took my arm and pulled me away.“But Alexander…”“We don't have time. We need to get you out of here.”BANG!Another gunshot exploded somewhere behind us. The sound seemed to come from inside the building. And Alexander was still in there. I had no idea whether he was safe or not.“Come on! Let's go,” another guard shouted as he moved in front of me, using his body as a shield while the others surrounded me. “Keep your head down, Mrs Sterling.”I obeyed, crouching slightly as they hurried me away from the building. Every instinct screamed at me to turn around, but the guards kept pushing me forward. “Keep moving!” The lead guard ordered. The sand beneath my slippers was rough and uneven; th
