His voice startled them together and they saw King Rafe gawking at Seraya. His dagger-like bloodthirsty eyes crawled down, judging their close proximity and something more darker lurking from his eyes. Seraya subconsciously stepped back, her eyes stared at his way hatefully. She parted her lips to say something but no proper syllables came out since Rafe was pointing out the truth this time.
Yes, she came to the gathering because of her pack! For her father! For her family!
Dimitri shrieked mentally in fear and hung his head low, bowing at the king who seemed really angry,
" Your Majesty!"
Rafe glared at him before taking long, big strides on their way. Stopping right in front of Seraya, he smirked staring up at her from head to toe,
" Oh! Look at you, you look better at this servant clothes, Alpha Seraya. Why don't you become the servant for a lifetime?"
His disrespectful words snapped the inner beast of Seraya from its cage. In a moment, her words spat out as growling,
" Seraya is born to become a queen, not like a servant at your house."
Rafe taunted further, giving her a look full of mockery,
" But look at you! At the end, you are the poor servant of Rafe Sullivan Underson."
Seraya clenched her teeth harder. Her brown eyes were glowing in rage. Her wolf wanted to challenge the king but she had to put every restraint around herself to hold back. In their wolf's world, challenging the Alpha King had a whole different meaning. If the challenger wins over the king, he or she becomes the new king. But if she or he fails, not only the challenger but her entire pack has to be killed at that very moment to protect the king's security.
Rafe glanced up at Alpha Dimitri whose head was hanging down and spoke with an underlined meaning,
" Alpha Dimitri, so you want to put your entire pack at risk because of this useless servant?"
Seraya's face fell and she looked up at King Rafe in surprise. She caught the meaning and felt guilty. He was threatening Alpha Dimitri with his pack. After hesitating for a bit, Dimitri finally spoke, giving Seraya a sorry stare,
" I..I don't dare, Your Majesty!"
Rafe scoffed with a malicious smirk,
" Good because I don't like it when someone meddles with something that belongs to me."
" I don't belong to you!", Seraya blurted, her rage building inside with intensity. Not only did he make her lose her opportunity to chat with Dimitri, he was acting like a real monster now by threatening Alpha Dimitri with his pack.
Rafe's face darkened and without uttering anymore words in presence of Alpha Dimitri, he gripped her wrists, dragging her out from the corridor,
" You...Come With Me..."
_______
The pack warriors all sent their worrying look at Seraya as she had been dragged through the entire hallway like a pet animal. Until the king's bedroom arrived in front of her vision and with a loud bursting noise, she was thrown over the ground. Her lips slipped out a small gasp but no change in her feature could be seen. She wasn't a delicate woman that Rafe wanted her to be.
Rafe kicked the door off behind him, infuriating and approaching her with a killing glare,
" How dare you join the gathering to speak with those Alphas?"
Seraya's head whirled around, her teeth clenching harder,
" I was speaking for my pack."
Rafe let out a sarcastic laugh. With another big stride, he reached her, bending down to clutch her chin. With a growl like thunder coming from his throat, Rafe gritted his words out emphasizing,
" You have no pack here. Don't you fucking forget that you are my servant, not any Alpha. Whatever you do is now under my command. No one disobeys me at my palace, not even you. You understand?"
His grip tightened around her jawline, merging pain through her skin slowly. Her teeth hurt as if they would drop out anytime because of the excessive amount of strength that he used to hold her chin. She choked but refused to plead to the heartless king. Instead, she spat harshly,
" Just for 2 months."
Her words grew another devilish smirk from the corner of his lips. He didn't let go of her chin immediately instead of being offered with a cocky grin,
" Maybe I will let go of your pack if you start respecting me as your king."
Seraya's wolf took the charge of dominion back. Her wolf replied glaring up at the king who had no respect for her,
" I bow to noone."
Rafe's forehead wrinkled and just as he intended to slap at her shirt mouth, a voice travelled from the back door,
" Your Majesty! There has been an emergency issue."
It was Angelina who became unusually restless ever since she heard that Rafe had taken Seraya in his master bedroom. Naturally before her, no one had the privilege to enter into the King's room. So far, she believed that she was the first and last woman after his mate entered into his private room.
Rafe permitted leaving Seraya on the floor like a discarded cloth,
" Enter!"
Angelina stepped inside gingerly with a permanent scowl setting on her expression. She looked behind Rafe and her stomach twisted into a knot to find Seraya at his place. But she quickly recovered herself to play the role of a decent mistress in front of Rafe,
" Your Majesty! We found something strange in that room where this servant of yours was living."
Seraya shut her eyes tightly and breathed hard, knowing what was coming for her. With Rafe's slight nod, Angelina dragged the servant in front to speak again,
" This pack servant of ours was found unconscious in her room. Upon inspecting, I found out that she has a scar behind her head. Seems like, she was hit by someone powerful."
Angelina spoke and her eyes crawled back on Seraya whose face was turning sullen slowly. Her lips curled up into a smirk that didn't miss Seraya's observation.
What did she do to receive all this hatred from them?
" What??", Rafe's voice blurted in rage and without any further explanation, he snapped his glare over Seraya who didn't try to cover her guilty expression. He gnashed his teeth, wanting to spat something but Angelina's coquettish voice interrupted his words,
" Allow me to put her in the dungeon, my king."
In Red Darkling Castle, Dungeon was the second name of horror. Creatures faced all sorts of cruelty inside the dungeon. Even their screams sometimes echoed so loudly that Rafe had to shift his dungeon in the underground slot. Angelina couldn't wait to hear Seraya's painful cries. She had already stretched her feet to catch Seraya who was huddling on the ground.
But Rafe's overpowering voice halted her track,
" No! My dungeon isn't enough to pay for her crime. She has done enough damage to my pack and family. She must pay every single day for laying hands on my pack member. Only then, she will learn to obey me. Get out Everyone!!"
Angelina's face fell and she looked up at Rafe strangely. Ever since Seraya entered here, he didn't let anyone punish her. Even if he had to beat her, he did it all by himself. Although, his actions were pure reflection of hatred, something did bother Angelina very much.
Why is Rafe's Wolf so possessive over Seraya?
" GET OUT!!"
They jumped startling before bowing at him last time and left the room hurriedly. Only after they left, Rafe unleashed the violence side of his wolf. His eyes started blazing so much that it was hard to look into his eyes.
With another large stride, he dragged up Seraya from the floor and held her chin fiercely,
" Did you hurt my pack member? Did you? Answer me, Seraya Quinley!!"
Seraya slurred her words, tears pricked from the corner of her eyes,
" I...it wasn't too much..She will feel better..Ah! "
Her scream bounced against the walls as soon as a hard slap landed across her cheeks. It burnt like fire and in her weak body, she had fallen over the king sized bed. Just when she attempted to stand up, Rafe hovered over her, pressing her down against the bed.
" Let go of me..Let go..."
Her scream became frightened as their positions gave her an awkward feeling. Was he thinking about taking her before her mate?
Seraya's world shuddered at those thoughts and she began to protest violently. Having no choice, Rafe locked her hands over her head before growling at her face,
" Enough! Any more movement then you will see how I break your virgin cunt."
She stopped immediately and looked up, finally meeting his eyes. Her wolf surprisingly relaxed under his captivity and began to squirm subconsciously.
Was she getting aroused? No way!
She shouted at her own sinful thoughts and heard his deep voice,
" Even in a servant position, you kept challenging my position, Seraya. Now, you are giving me no choice. From this exact moment, you are going to become my mistress."
Chapter 71Cohen had paced back and forth in front of Rafe's door for some time before he finally entered. The weight of the news he carried was immense, and though he had never been the voice of reason at the shoulder of his king, today even his heart thudded unevenly. He knew that what he was about to say could shake Rafe more than anything else had done in the last few weeks.Rafe was at the window when Cohen entered. His broad form was engulfed in darkness, and the pale silver moon light poured over his shoulders like plate armor. His stance was rigid, but his demeanor shifted with restlessness, the indication his wolf had been troubled since their return from the previous patrol. Not turning to him, Rafe's deep and authoritative voice rolled, but it carried a note of weariness."Tell, Cohen?"Cohen dipped his head before moving forward. He talked calmly, measured, though his heart itched with each sentence. "My king… Ace."Rafe's shoulders stiffened. With that title, a jolt of fr
Chapter 70Rafe remained in the great hall, his posture stiff as the darkness of the grand stone walls stretched around him. His eyes, usually blazing with dominance, had a strange hold-back tonight. He had invited Seraya to appear before him, the air dense between them. When she did arrive, her step firm and chin set, he had the words caught in his throat for a moment. He breathed deliberately, as if steeling himself against an onslaught of emotion he wasn't ready to confront."I apologize, Seraya," Rafe finally said, his voice resonating off the marble floor. They were awkward words even to his own hearing. He rarely apologized—never, in fact—but the storm of regret that had been gathering within him since Laura's interference compelled him to this extent.Seraya's mouth parted slightly, but instead of softening, her eyes hardened. A dry, mirthless laughter came out of her throat, hard and jagged. "Apology?" she spoke once more, her tone thick with gall. "What would that accomplish
Chapter 69Rafe sat on his elevated throne, his face impulsive. His arms were crossed on the scrollwork grips of the throne, his jaw locked in place as his scarlet eyes landed upon the guarded one. His very presence lingered like a thunderhead in the hall, and yet Laura remained unfazed. She stood tall, chin up, with a wicked grin on her lips that betrayed the fact that she wasn't bothered by the King of Alphas. The guard's shoulders heaved wildly under the force of the silence. When Laura clicked her fingers, two guards shoved his head back. His eyes darted wildly between Rafe and Laura, with a bead of sweat trickling down the side of his temple."Talk," Laura commanded, her voice crisp and icy, cutting through the air. "Tell our Alpha King what you confessed to me."The guard swallowed, Adam's apple bobbing before he stuttered, "M-My lord… I—I saw… a man. I saw him leaving the castle that night."Murmers echoed around the room. Warriors exchanged glances, brows furrowed. Angelina's
Chapter 68Hours he had replayed the words of the witch in his head. At first, he had denied, his mind unwilling to see his own claws had ended a life that was so precious. But the images she provided for him, the memories of his wolf's savage attack, that recollection of that ill-fated night—all were unable to leave him. His heart broke at the reality of his daughter, Seraya, languishing in Red Darkling Castle as a result of his deed.He could not have her linger there any longer. Not when the blame lay on his shoulders. Not when his daughter was paying for his mistake. Tonight, he would confess everything to Ace and then address Rafe. Let the Alpha King have his vengeance on him—at least Seraya would be free.Artemis came to the wooden door and knocked softly. The impact was dulled, dampened by the wall's thickness. From inside, there was the quiet step of footsteps before the door groaned open. Ace emerged, his keen eyes folding into a scowl as soon as he saw Artemis's face."Artem
Chapter 67Angelina's voice carried through the chaos like a poisoned scimitar. "She is the one! The smell of the power… the odor of the darkness—it's coming from her room!"Gasps erupted among the pack, coarse, biting, with incredulity and yet readiness to damn. Wolves turned their heads towards Seraya, nostrils flung wide open as if sniffing for the evidence that Angelina claimed she had found.Seraya's ribcage contracted in pain. She could barely breathe under the weight of so many accusing stares. She shook her head once, her voice trembling with conviction but firm. "I didn't. I never—""Lies." Angelina's mouth curled up, her beautiful face twisted in hatred. She stepped closer, her gown rustling over the stone floor in a proud arrogance equal to her hatred. "All of the guards that marched past your door last night experienced it. That suffocating darkness, that thick odor of corrupt magic—it wasn't in the hallway, it wasn't in the courtyard. It came from your room alone.""No, t
Chapter 66Night pressed down upon Red Darkling Castle, the moon casting shattered silver on the stone walls and silent halls. Guards patrolled their usual watch, their torches weaving in the chilly air, but not a single one of them noticed the shadow that moved through their midst as if the darkness itself enveloped him.Ace moved like a ghost. His feet were silent, his breathing even, and every cell in his body was trained with the quiet of a hunter. He'd waited for this night, chosen the ideal moment, and followed the patterns of Rafe's guards until he knew their weaknesses better than they did themselves. By the time he'd reached the servant wing of the castle, nobody had spotted him. No alarm was raised. He pushed through the little wooden door that led into a quiet corridor, then froze, his ears tuned. Beneath the stillness, he could just make out sounds of guards talking shifts and the occasional crackle of fire. But none of them were nearby.Seraya's room was ahead.Inside, S
