Chapter 5

-LOBO-

I walked into the old building fuming in anger.

"Where the fuck is Merrick?"

One of the female werewolves walked over to me in her human form, "Why so angry, baby?"

I ignored her pitiful attempt at gaining my attention and shook her grasp off of me as I walked passed.

"Where is Merrick?" I repeated, a little louder this time.

The werewolves fell silent, knowing simply by my tone that I was in a bad mood today.

"What do you want with me?" Merrick asked as he came out from the back.

He was the Alpha of this pack.

"I want to know why one of your wolves attacked my," I caught myself before continuing, "My brother's girlfriend. It happened last night in the woods."

His eyes widened slightly, "I know nothing of this."

"Merrick," I took a step toward him, "You are the Alpha of this pathetic excuse of a pack," another step forward, "Do you expect me to believe that you don't know what your members are getting up to?"

His eyes faltered, looking towards the left before meeting mine again, "Look, Lobo, I'm sure he wasn't aware that she was family. You asked us to keep an eye on the latest happenings, that's all he was doing."

I wrapped my hand around his throat, not even an Alpha werewolf would attempt to take me on, "Really? Then why did he latch onto my shoulder instead of leaving?"

"You attacked him."

I brought my fist forward against his face before dropping him, "You tell you mutts that if they ever come near her again, I will decapitate them." I turned and walked out.

I wanted to set them all alight, but I decided a warning first would be the way to go.

They knew of my reputation so hopefully they would think better than to piss me off.

But they were small fry, I wanted to find the Lycan who broke in and attempted to assault Mila.

They wouldn't get off as easily as the wolves did, that was for sure.

-MILA-

I sipped on my iced coffee while in my car, staring at the tiny red-bricked house.

This was the house of one of the victims. I wasn't exactly sure what I was planning on doing, because I had overheard Lowell saying that the victims were not connected. But I had a hunch that he had missed something.

With my coffee cup in hand, I made my way out of my car and over to the front door.

I didn't have much of a plan but I decided I would wing it and hope for the best.

I knocked three times before the door was opened by an older lady.

"Can I help you?"

"Hi. Yes. I'm sorry, I'm being rude. My name is, uh, Lala," I cringed, this was going terribly, "I was a friend of Bianca's."

The woman's eyes filled with pain, "Oh, you knew my daughter?"

"Yes. We weren't very close but we knew each other well enough. Firstly, I am so sorry for your loss."

"Thank you. But what are you doing here?"

"Oh, right. I'm trying to find out more about the case. I'm not convinced the police force is doing everything it can. I just want to see her killer brought to justice." I knew how the majority of people in this town felt about the police, so I decided to go with a similar take even if I didn't believe it.

"You should let them do your job. It's dangerous to be poking your nose around."

"Oh, I'm just hoping to find clues they might have missed that I can alert them to. Please, I just want to make sure her murder doesn't go unpunished."

"I've told the police everything I could. Go home dear."

"Wait. Did she know anyone by the name of Pauline?"

She shook her head, "No, she didn't." The woman closed the door in my face and I sighed.

Shaking my head I went back to my car, but as I was about to get in, I noticed a kid staring at me from across the street.

When I got closer I was able to guess that he was around thirteen.

"Hi."

"What were you doing over there?" He asked.

"I was just visiting my friend's mom."

"Bianca?"

"Yes. Did you know her?" I felt slightly pathetic for being so excited that he might be able to give me some answers.

He nodded, "Yeah when I was little she babysat me."

"Did you maybe see her before she went missing?"

"Yeah, she got into a black car and left. Her mom was always on her case, and didn't like her boyfriend much."

"Was it her boyfriend that picked her up?"

He shrugged, "Maybe. I don't know. We never saw him, but we heard a lot about him. People said he was one of those monsters walking our streets. The Lycans."

So she may have been dating the killer, I noted.

"Thank you for your help." I made my way back over to my car.

I started it and drove toward the next address when I made a detour.

From what I gathered. Lowell hadn't been alerted about the couple in the woods yet.

Maybe I could get some clues before he arrived.

It was only when I arrived that I realized how stupid this was.

If they found signs that I had been there, I could get into a lot of trouble.

I also didn't want to contaminate the scene and possibly make it impossible for them to find evidence.

Shaking my head at how silly I had been, I began to reverse when something caught my eye. It was a wolf walking into the woods.

Reversing in a hurry, I reached over for my phone and dialed the number for the police, it was their anonymous tip-off line.

I told them what I had seen before hanging up.

Suddenly a searing pain tore through my head causing me to flinch. The car swerved and the last thing I saw was the tree I slammed into before everything went black.
