Chapter 39

I got up from the bed and scratched my head. I'm sweaty and breathless as I'm having those episodes of nightmare again.

My nightmare now was strange compared to the previous nights. I haven't woken up in the middle of the night for a few days. I usually wake up in the morning, and all I remember is the dream.

I thought about my dream. The same girl in every dream is calling my name. She's asking for my help while a big man is dragging her out of the dented car. I tried to reach for her to help, but I couldn't move my whole body, which was stuck to the steering wheel. I was numb from the pain caused by our collision with a concrete barrier.

I feel like I was so worthless during those times. I could do nothing but listen to the woman's faint cry. And then silence. I fought the urge to fall into sleep, but the numbness in my head is throbbing. I closed my eyes and welcomed the deafening silence. And then I woke up,
