LOGINSERENA POV
“Wait right there.”
Jayden’s voice cut through the air, sharp and commanding.
I ignored him.
I continued walking toward the wall, my spine straight, my steps deliberate. I refused to let him think he could summon me like a soldier under his command. I had endured enough humiliation for one day.
But before I could take another step, he was there.
His hand wrapped around my arm and yanked me back hard, pulling me against his solid chest.
The sudden contact sent sparks exploding through my body, hot and electric, racing through my veins like wildfire. I sucked in a sharp breath, and I knew, without a doubt, that he felt it too.
There was no mistaking the way his body stiffened. His hand slid up, gripping my jaw firmly, forcing my face up until my eyes met his.
His expression was thunderous. Furious. Dark.
“How dare you walk away from me,” he growled, his voice low and dangerous.
“Did I give you permission to move?”
My heart slammed violently against my ribs, but I refused to flinch. I refused to show fear.
“I don’t need your permission,” I said steadily, though my jaw ached under his grip.
“You don’t get to control or command me, Alpha King. I am your mate. Your queen. That makes me your equal.” His grip tightened.
Pain shot through my jaw, sharp and deliberate, but I didn’t cry out. I didn’t wince. I wouldn’t give him that satisfaction.
“Don’t try me,” he said coldly. “You are not my mate yet. Nor my queen. And you will never be my equal.” His eyes burned into mine.
“Do not push your luck. You won’t like what happens next.” Then he shoved my face away and stepped back, severing the contact abruptly.
I staggered only slightly before regaining my balance.
Around us, the training ground had fallen unnaturally silent. I glanced around and saw warriors staring, wide-eyed, frozen.
The moment they realized I noticed, they immediately looked away, pretending they had heard nothing.
But I knew the truth. They heard everything. Without another word, I turned back toward the obstacle course. My chest burned, not from weakness, but from fury. I would not let him break me.
I climbed the wall again. This time, faster.
My hands found their grips without hesitation. My body moved with purpose, determination fueling every muscle.
I reached the top and dropped down smoothly on the other side, landing solidly on my feet.
Next came the swinging ropes over the pit of thick mud. Each swing required precise timing and strength. I launched myself forward, gripping the ropes tightly as my body flew through the air.
The wind whipped my hair around my face as my muscles strained, my pulse roaring in my ears. One wrong move and I would be coated in filth.
But I didn’t fall.
I moved from rope to rope, controlled, focused, relentless, until my boots hit solid ground.
Jayden’s gaze never left me.
Every step I took, every breath I drew, he watched. The bond surged violently, heat flooding my chest, desire and anger twisting together so tightly it left me dizzy.
Finally, I reached the row of targets, dummies marked with symbols representing different pack members.
Jayden stepped forward and placed a gun in my hand.
“Accuracy,” he said simply. “Concentrate.”
My fingers tightened around the grip. My hands trembled slightly, but I forced them steady.
Focus, Artemis said, her presence cool and grounding as it flowed through my veins. This is not about his approval. This is our test.
I raised the gun. The first shot struck the target dead center. Then another. And another. Each strike landed perfectly.
Jayden tilted his head slightly, his expression unreadable, but the bond reacted violently, pulsing as if it were alive, almost celebratory.
“Not bad,” he said finally.
Just three words. Calm. Neutral. They carried weight. Approval, or a warning. I couldn’t tell.
“But not enough,” he added, dousing whatever satisfaction I felt like cold water.
I should have known better than to expect anything from him. The final exercise was announced.
A sparring match.
Not with a dummy, but with one of Jayden’s elite warriors. My heart jumped violently.
The warrior stepped forward, tall and intimidating, his movements precise and efficient.
The moment we began, he attacked swiftly. I dodged, countered, blocked, my body moving on instinct, Artemis guiding me, sharpening my reflexes.
Every punch. Every kick. Every shift in balance.
Jayden stood to the side, arms crossed, watching with brutal intensity. When it ended, sweat poured down my body, my muscles screamed, but I stood tall. The warrior bowed.
I didn’t. I turned toward the crowd. Some faces showed respect. Others disdain. Some were unreadable.
Jayden stepped closer, close enough for me to feel the heat radiating from him. He didn’t touch me. Didn’t speak. But the bond roared inside my chest, urgent and demanding.
He knows. He sees everything.
“End of day one,” he announced finally.
“Tomorrow, you will continue training with the pack.” His gaze locked onto mine. “And you will spar with me.”
My breath caught. Spar with him?
Every instinct screamed warning, but Artemis hissed back, We will fight. We have to.
Jayden held my gaze for a moment longer before turning and walking away, every step radiating authority, dominance, control.
I straightened my spine, forcing my trembling muscles to relax. The real test was only beginning.
Then he stopped. He turned back and walked toward me.
What does he want now? I thought.
“You will also train with the omegas,” he said flatly. “Zora will lead your training.”
I stared at him, stunned.
“You’re joking,” I said.
“Do I look like I’m joking?” he replied. “You will train with them every day after your session with the pack.”
He wanted to humiliate me.
“So I’ll train under your admirer?” I asked sharply.
He didn’t answer.
“You expect me,” I said, raising my voice, “an Alpha, the future queen of this kingdom, to be trained by your lover?”
I didn’t care that everyone was watching.
“I won’t do it.”
“Yes, you will,” he said, gripping my shoulder. “And lower your voice. I don’t appreciate your tone.”
“Let me fight her,” I said instantly. “If I lose, I’ll train under her willingly. But if she loses, I will train the omegas, and Zora will train with them.”
A pause.
“Fine,” Jayden said. “Tomorrow. Today, you train with them.”
“Alright,” I agreed.
Just for today.
The omegas arrived, and training began. Jayden stayed nearby, watching, watching me. I cooperated. I never saw training with omegas as weakness. They were part of us.
The session lasted thirty minutes and ended quickly.
As the omegas left, Jayden shot me one last look before walking away, leaving only me and Zora behind.
I grabbed my things and turned to leave.
“Serena, wait,” Zora called.
Chapter 15 (Part 2)SERENA POVI stood frozen the moment I heard the voice. It was familiar. Too familiar. For a split second, I thought it was Jayden. My heart reacted before my mind did, tightening painfully in my chest. But when I turned, it wasn’t him.My heartbeat steady when It turns out to be Zora. She was walking toward me with a calm, warm smile, as if the tension in the air didn’t exist, as if the ground beneath this palace wasn’t layered with politics, power, and unspoken cruelty. She looked relaxed, confident, and strangely kind for someone who had just fought me hours earlier.“How are you doing?” she asked gently. “I hope you’re good.”Her tone wasn’t mocking. No challenge. It wasn’t cold. There was no hidden edge to it. Just a simple concern.“I’m fine,” I replied, offering a small smile of my own. “And you?”“I’m good, thank you,” she said. Then she gestured ahead. “Everyone is already waiting for you and the Alpha King.”Her words tightened something in my chest, but
Chapter 15 (Part 1)SERENA POVI composed myself and walked slowly from the training field back to the pack house. Every step felt heavier than the last, my muscles screaming in protest, my body reminding me of every strike I had taken and every blow I had returned. The ache settled deep in my bones, dull yet persistent, like a warning that I had pushed myself to the edge again.Still, I did not allow it to show. I walked with my back straight, my shoulders squared, my head held high. Grace was armor. Pride was survival. I refused to give anyone the satisfaction of seeing weakness written on my face, and have also done this numerous times in my pack. I don't have a choice, I have to show them I am strong, that I am not weak. Since they never truly accept me, I have to make them know I am stronger than them even if they are dissatisfied with me being the Alpha, they have to keep it hidden inside them.In this palace, perception mattered just as much as strength. By the time I reached
CHAPTER 14 – PART 2SERENA POV“Enough.”Jayden’s voice cut cleanly through the training grounds.“Everyone, come forward,” he commanded. “We will watch. And we will judge today’s match.”The murmurs grew instantly.Warriors shifted positions, forming a wide circle. Some leaned forward with interest. Others crossed their arms, skeptical. A few wore expressions I recognized too well, anticipation mixed with doubt. Jayden turned his gaze toward me.“Serena,” he said coolly, “you’ve had enough time. Ten minutes is up. It’s time to fight.”My pulse steadied instead of racing. I stepped forward. Zora already stood in the center of a platform ring in the field for fighting, rolling her shoulders, loosening her neck like someone preparing for a real fight, not a demonstration. Her expression wasn’t hostile. It was focused. Professional. This wasn’t personal for her. That made it harder. Weapons were not allowed. This would be skill against skill. Control against control.“Rules,” Jayden sai
CHAPTER 14 – PART 1SERENA POVI woke before the sun was shining into my room. The room was quiet, too quiet, for my liking, the kind of silence that presses against your chest and reminds you that you are alone even in a palace full of people. No one understands what you are going through. My body ached in places I didn’t know could ache. Every muscle screamed in protest as I pushed myself upright, memories of yesterday’s training flashing through my mind. Also the conversation with my parents and emotional breakdowns I have after it, all gush in at once.Today, I know it would be worse, but I pray for it to be good and not too much drama.I welcomed the pain. It reminded me I was still standing.I swung my legs over the side of the bed and sat there for a moment, breathing slowly, centering myself. Artemis stirred within me, calm and steady.“Today matters a lot, alot” she said.“I know,” I replied. I won’t bend, I am ready to face what today was going to bring. I knew that everyda
SERENA POV“Why are they like this?” I shouted, my voice echoing painfully through the large room. The walls offered no answer. The silence pressed down on me, heavy and suffocating.“Why can’t they be like other parents?” I cried out, my voice breaking. “Parents who care for their child. Parents who are willing to sacrifice anything for their child’s happiness and well-being.”My knees drew up to my chest as I sank further down, my arms wrapping tightly around myself as if I could somehow hold myself together. As if I could replace the warmth I had never truly known.“Why am I so unfortunate,” I whispered, my voice shaking, “to have parents who see me as nothing more than a pawn? A tool to fulfill their goals and ambitions.”Tears streamed freely now, blurring my vision.“They don’t care if I’m hurting. They don’t care if I’m suffering or in pain,” I said, my chest aching with every breath. “As long as their plans succeed.”I pressed a hand over my heart as a sharp ache bloomed ther
CHAPTER 13 (Part 1)SERENA POV“When did this start, Serena?” my mother asked softly. “When did you begin questioning us and our decisions, my dear?”She didn’t answer the question I had asked her. Instead, she turned it back on me, like she always did. Like she always had.I swallowed, my throat suddenly dry.“Mom, I just want to know,” I said quietly. “I’m not questioning you. I’ve always listened to everything you said. I just want an answer this time.”I lifted my gaze to meet hers, forcing myself not to look away. “Did you ever think I would suffer here?” I asked. “Did you ever think Jayden would make my life a living hell?”Her expression changed instantly. The softness in her eyes deepened, her lips trembling slightly as pain flickered across her face. She looked almost wounded.“My child,” she said gently, reaching out and placing her hand against my cheek. “Of course we did. You are my daughter. How could I not think about your pain?”Her touch was warm, familiar, and yet i
