"Angela…"
At first, it was like a cool breeze blowing across my skin, circulating the entire place to its peak. That feeling is what I get sometimes- most of the times rather, but-
"Angela!" That blasting tone of my step mother came shattering on my head, resting in my brain a piercing pain that left my eyes squeezing shut.
Sitting beside my small reading table, I jerk up, shifting my chair aside. My heart beat increases drastically as I stand beside my door now; beads of sweat rolling down the sides of my face. And before I could blink like once, or twice, the door burst open, slamming me against the wall. The smell of gore floods my nose immediately.
"You idiot of a step daughter! What the fucking hell are you still doing here knowing that you're supposed to be downstairs, cleaning the compound at this time?!" She empties a bucket of chilled water on me, and then throws the bucket beside her, shattering it into a million pieces.
Her fists roll into two hefty balls, ready to punch as usual, as she slams the door shut behind her with her leg. "Haven't I warned you not to ever stay for a single minute after dawn before cleaning my compound?! Or do you think this house is a refuse dump ground, silly thwat?! She throws a punch at my face, and I am just so lucky it didn't end in my face.
"M-mom, I-I've done that alrea-" the shivering chills freezes me to hell and back.
"Would you keep your lips sealed this very minute?! Go out there and see if there are no fallen dead leaves on the ground! Idiot!" She grips my hand and yanks me to the wall. Walking to me now, mom sends a hot blow down my back, and I cringe, shrinking in anguish as she continues to send some more blows on my spine, hitting me heavily like she is beating a drum.
In a blink, she grab my left leg and drag me along the rough floor of my room, pulling me out the door.
"Today, I'm going to show you what it means to have a step mother like me, silly!" She continues to say so many things at the same time as she pulls me continuously.
I can feel my skin tearing up, like a blade is being run across different parts of my body. Tears streaming down my cheeks is just a tip of the iceberg to describe the amount of pain in my heart as I just let her do to me that which she usually does that pleases her.
This is what I get to experience every single day of my life with my very own step mother, and there has never been a day that goes by without me eating enough beating from her like a six square meal, and feeling the pain of having her as my guardian. My life has been a mess, and thinking of a day this whole thing would end, is just like, 'if wishes were horses, beggars would ride'. Hot tears rain down my cheeks as I recall how mom drilled me with her twisted whip yesterday. Just take a look at my body, the scars are still so much fresh, and the injuries seem like they're going to remain there forever on my skin.
"If Dad was here, I don't think you'll be doing this to me, mom." Those words escape my lips, interpreting the level of pain in my heart.
"No, you're wrong, girl! If your father was here, you wouldn't have been here causing me heartaches! So go on.. go join him over there, and let me have my peace of mind in my husband's house, alone, since you decided to kill my only daughter, the only reason I married your father, you hampered bitch!" She sapt, flinging me along the rickety set of stairs behind our house as we got outside the house.
I see myself rolling down the stairs and a quick scratch meets my arm as I proceed. Suddenly, I notice blood streaming down my arm as I land on the bare ground. A huge cut is resting there now. I scream.
"Yes, good for you!" She says.
I look up at her high above the staircase, the laughter erupting from her shows so much hate and disdain.
"I hate you with every ounce of blood in me! You're the worst mistake of my life!" She spat at me. Literally.
Now I understand the reason for this hate. Every single event came returning to my head as I stare at mom. Her eyes blazing fireworks as she rains down fire and brimstone at me with her words that don't seem to end anytime soon, piercing deep into my heart like a needle is being driven down me.
But the fact that she isn't my biological mother, drives me nuts, and father had to marry her when I was a toddler, crying each day as I returned from school, demanding to have a mother as my friends did because of the shame and humiliation I had to go through from my classmates in school since my mother left my father and ran off with another man. So dad told me.
Dad had no choice but to give me a new mother.
A mother that he never loved. A mother who has always seen her step daughter as a working tool to satisfy her craziness for humiliation. And even though there were millions of holes out there for men to drill as they pleased, she still wants me to do her bidding by trying to force me on men, just for money. Coupled with the fact that she's from a deadly werewolf bloodline, a lineage no one wants to have anything to do with in the entire pack. But she hid all that from dad initially. And even her so-called dad's 'daughter' she bore, was also fathered by another man, until dad got to know about everything, and was chasing both of them away from his house when Cillia fell from the stairs and broke her head. Cillia bled to death. A sin dad found it so hard to forgive himself for, even till he fell so ill.
I still miss Cillia despite everything.
And I know this is the same reason mom had to poison him after he had to let her back into his life again, and get him locked up in the dungeon for days without food nor water. And since then, dad has been lying critically ill in the hospital for months now, in a coma, without any headway to get him better.
My heart bleeds at the thought of all that. Hot tears roll down my eyes as I stare into the blank air.
Mom looks beside her, a bottle of red wine is sitting and chilling on the table, peacefully, with beads of ice forming all over the bottle. She grabs it quickly, uncover it and gozzle almost half of the bottle at once. "I hate the day you came into my life, you swine!" She sapt, sending the bottle down to me from above.
It lands on the last step case, right before me, shattering into a million pieces, spilling the remaining wine all around.
The pain in her eyes is something I can not just get enough explanation for. All of a sudden, she leaves me down here and dash into the house.
Quickly, I ignore the pain in my body, and go in after her. Picking up the broom by the hallway, I head out again. And immediately, I begin to clean up as quickly as possible, 'cause I know that if I don't, hell will let loose on me. And this time around, it's going to be far worse than the usual. I know so.
Picking up my new face where I always hide it each time mom injures my face, right beside my window. I wear it, pick up my file and a notebook, and then, off I go through the door behind the house. To my old pack. With nothing for breakfast, nor money for even snacks for lunch. It's my first day since we left there, and I can't afford to go late for my training today. I need to learn, so I can begin to work and earn. Even if it's a little everyday.
That's what I have to go through each day of my life.

Syrill's pov
You don't know how I hate the scents of those shewolves out there! The moment I feel like having something to do with any of them, sexually, that very moment I just find my hard, big man going down, sleeping like a drunken soul each passing second. And immediately, the thought of my mate would come flooding my head, leaving me wanting in eagerness for her scent.
I throw my head back, my eyes shut now, as I draw in deep a long, deep breath…
I hope to find her someday, and someday soon.
My soul search for her.

CHAPTER 60 SERENA POV One month later"Will you follow me to my kingdom and start all over there?" Caleb asked, his voice calm but edged with care, as though he felt the weight of my exhaustion. I shook my head slowly, letting my fingers brush against the hem of my coat. The wind carried a chill, rustling the trees around us, and the sun dipped low behind the mountains, casting long shadows that mirrored the heaviness in my heart. "No," I whispered, my voice trembling slightly though I tried to mask it. "I don’t want to follow you to the demon kingdom. I… I will go to the human territory." Caleb’s eyes softened, but a quiet concern lingered. "Are you sure? We can leave now for another kingdom, if you don't want to come to the demon kingdom. start over somewhere no one knows us." I laughed lightly, though it was hollow, almost bitter. "How can I not think about it? Everything… Everything in my life has been a storm I could never control. From childhood until now, there has
Chapter 59 Part 2Jayden POV“I don’t want to hear anything about Serena,” I said firmly, my voice calm but carrying a quiet finality. “But you can tell me how the people reacted to the situation… and how my mom handled it.”Ryker stood a few steps away from me, his posture straight but slightly tense. The dim light of the room reflected faintly on the screen of the laptop he carried in his hand. For a brief moment he hesitated, as if choosing his words carefully.“Immediately after you left,” he began slowly, “Fiona called for a meeting with the elders, ministers, and representatives of the major families in the kingdom.”I leaned back slightly in my chair, folding my arms across my chest while listening.“The news about Serena had already started spreading among the people,” Ryker continued. “Rumors were everywhere. Some said she ran away. Others said she betrayed the kingdom.”My jaw tightened slightly at those words, but I said nothing.“Before the rumors could grow further,” Ryke
Chapter 59 Part 1JAYDEN POVI pushed the door to my chamber open slowly. The room was dark. Not a single curtain had been drawn back, and the windows remained shut tight as if the room itself wanted to keep the world outside. The faint scent of wood and cold stone lingered in the air, heavy and unmoving. For two days this room had remained untouched, just like my mind.Silence swallowed everything. I stepped inside and closed the door behind me with a dull thud. For a moment I simply stood there, letting my eyes adjust to the darkness that filled the chamber. The emptiness of the room pressed against my chest like a weight. It felt unfamiliar, even though I had lived here for years.Slowly, I walked toward the small lamp near the wall and switched it on.A dim golden light spread through the room, barely strong enough to push back the shadows clinging to the corners. It did not brighten the room much, but it was enough.Enough to see. Enough to think. Enough to remember. My gaze dri
SERENA POV“Serena…” Jayden started, his voice low and careful, but I didn’t let him finish.“No.”The word left my mouth sharper than I intended, slicing through the air before he could finish my name. I pulled my hand away from his instinctively, standing up even though my legs still felt slightl

SERENA POV“Serena, open the door.”Jayden’s voice came again, firm and rough, followed by the heavy sound of his fist banging against the wood. The door shook slightly, echoing through the room, each knock hitting directly at my chest.“Why should I? Answer me, why should I open the door for you.”
SERENA POV“I am fed up with them,” I muttered, my voice barely more than a growl at first, but the words gained strength as they left my lips. My hands clenched into fists, digging into my palms as my chest tightened.“They have caused enough damage, enough harm and I can’t take it anymore.”The r
