The feeling of guilt had flooded my stomach the following weeks after sleeping with Belle. She had suggested on many occasions that we do it again, but I was just too ashamed of myself. I felt like I had cheated on Tara, even though Tara was happily mated and had a child of her own. She had started her family and here I was trying to push the feeling out of my system. She was not mine.

It was in the evening when my phone rang. It was my mother.

“Hello,” I answered.

“Oh, sweetie! It’s so good to hear your voice. We’ve missed you!” She sang.

I smiled, “I miss you all as well Mother. I will be visiting on the holidays. We are getting two weeks off.”

“Oh, that’s lovely! So much has happened! Becca is pregnant with their third child, Tommy made the JV Football Team, Lucy got first place in her spelling bee, Liam has entered his first play, and Marie lost a tooth!” Mother said without a breath for air.
