Leaving Tara’s room, I headed back to my temporary office. Belle reported that Mason was still knocked out. She managed to slip him the sleeping pill as well as the one for his wolf without him realizing. She was pretty pissed off this morning when she found me in the office and confronted me. I understood where she was coming from. She was putting herself in a very vulnerable position for me. She had always been that way. I don’t know if it was because she had feelings for me that ran deeper than friendship or if it was just because of her loyalty to me. Either way, I was grateful to have her by my side, now more than ever.

Which is when I guess Tara had eavesdropped and heard the whole thing. She must’ve taken off too soon before she even heard my response. I told Belle that the plan had taken a 180. It was no longer a mission to divide and conquer, but a search and rescue. I told her Tara was my fated mate and how every second we left her here, she spent in dang
