Charlotte’s POV

Every time Sebastian defended me in front of Mom I felt a dark little thrill, proof that I had a piece of him she never would.

She had come to me about not using the driver. Sebastian stepped in without hesitation. “Stacy, don't involve the child in our issues. Let her be.” The look mom gave him could make one confess due to fear.

“Oh now she’s a kid.” Mom fired back. “Days ago you said she was twenty and needed to live life.”

Dad ignored her and walked out in frustration. M

  • Her Stepfather’s Obsession    Wrong Hotel

Sebastian’s POV We rented a private apartment for the weekend so we could finally stop looking over our shoulders after Mr Lang gave us quite a scare, then a last-minute problem forced us into a hotel instead, and I felt eyes on us the moment we walked in. Stacy’s last-minute conference gave us the opportunity we needed. She left Thursday night. Friday afternoon I drove Charlotte to the short-term apartment I’d booked under a different name. We drove in excited to have some fun outside the house since Stacy wouldn’t be around for the weekend. I was about to step out of my car when my phone buzzed. The building’s management number. “Mr. Hale? This is the front desk regarding your reservation.” I stepped away from Charlotte. “What’s the problem?” “There’s been a scheduling error. Your booking was entered for Saturday and Sunday, not Friday and Saturday. I’m very sorry. The unit is currently occupied until tomorrow afternoon.” I pinched the bridge of my nose. “You’re telling me

  • Her Stepfather’s Obsession    New Predator

Charlotte’s POV The man who approached me after class was charming, rich, and a little too interested in my stepfather and I should have walked away the second he offered to buy me a drink. He was waiting near the campus parking lot, leaning against a black car. He’s tall, charming, older just the way I like my men. In his expensive suit. “Miss Charlotte,” he said. I stopped. “Do I know you?” “Victor Lang. I do business with your stepfather. Thought I’d introduce myself properly.” He held out a hand. I shook it out of habit. His grip was warm and firm. “Are you free for a quick coffee? I’d love to hear how Sebastian’s been treating the family business from the inside.” Something about the way he said Sebastian’s name made my skin prickle. Still, I was curious. And flattered. We ended up at a café two blocks away. At first he asked questions about my school, my hobby, then he switched to what it was like living with a man who is not my biological father. Then the questions got

  • Her Stepfather’s Obsession    False Relief

Stacy’s POV I stood in front of Sebastian, apologizing to him for not trusting him and accusing him of betrayal when all he had been doing was protecting our daughter from her own bad choices. We were in the kitchen the morning after everything came out. Charlotte was still upstairs. The house felt quieter than it had in weeks. I wrapped my arms around myself and forced the words out. “I’m sorry,” I said. The words came out quieter than I intended. “I shouldn’t have suspected you. Or her. I let my stress and my own insecurities turn into something ugly. Meanwhile you were just trying to protect Charlotte… and me. I see that now.” Sebastian looked up from his phone. For a moment he said nothing. Then he set it down and leaned back against the counter, watching me with an expression I couldn’t quite read. “Do you?” he asked. “Because the way you came at me… the accusations… it didn’t feel like a small misunderstanding, Stacy.” I leaned on the edge of the table across from him

  • Her Stepfather’s Obsession    Evidence Delivered

Charlotte’s POV I sneaked the boy in through the side door after midnight and led him upstairs to my room. His name was Tyler. One of the college guys who had been flirting with me for weeks. I told him my parents were out. He believed me. We were on the bed, shirts off, his hands on my waist, when the door opened without warning. Mom stood there. For a second no one moved. Then she screamed. “Charlotte!” Tyler scrambled backward so hard he almost fell off the bed. I yanked the sheet up over my chest. Footsteps pounded down the hall. Sebastian appeared in the doorway behind her, eyes wide. He took in the scene, me half-naked, the boy shirtless and panicked… and his face went carefully blank. “This is what I was trying to keep you from seeing,” he said to Mom, voice steady. “I found out she was seeing someone. I was handling it so you wouldn’t have to deal with it on top of everything at work.” Mom turned on him, still shaking. “You knew?” “I was trying to protect you from th

  • Her Stepfather’s Obsession    Fractured Trust

Sebastian’s POV Charlotte thinks she is pregnant and it hasn’t been confirmed yet but she already wants to start marking territory. She wants me to show concern even in Stacy’s presence. We had just finished having sex when the bedroom door opened. Stacy stood there staring at us. Charlotte’s face was still flushed. My shirt was half-buttoned. My blood ran cold. “What the hell is going on in here?” Stacy asked. I kept my voice steady even though my pulse was slamming. “Charlotte wasn’t feeling well. We were just talking. Father-daughter moment.” Charlotte nodded quickly, pulling the sheet higher. “Yeah. I got nauseous. He was checking on me.” Stacy’s eyes moved between us. She didn’t look convinced, but she didn’t push further. “Get dressed. Both of you. Dinner’s ready.” She left. The second the door shut I turned on Charlotte. “This is exactly what I was talking about,” I said, in a low tone. “We can’t keep doing this. Not with her watching so closely. You need to take a re

  • Her Stepfather’s Obsession     Possible Consequences

Charlotte’s POV I barely made it through the first few bites of the toast bread and I started feeling nauseous again, my stomach rolled. I set the fork down and pressed my hand to my mouth. Mom noticed immediately. “Charlotte ? Baby what’s wrong?” “I feel weak,” I said. “Feverish. And nauseous. I can’t really explain it.” Sebastian looked up from his coffee. Mom was already standing. “We’re taking you to the hospital,” she said at the same time Sebastian said, “I’ll drive you.” They both froze, realizing they’d spoken together. The air got awkward fast. I shook my head. “No. It’s not that serious. I just need to lie down.” Mom frowned. “Then I’m calling Dr. Patel.” “No,” I said quickly. “Please. I don’t want a doctor fussing over me for a stomach upset.” She turned to Sebastian. “Talk to her. Convince her to see the doctor." He leaned back in his chair. “I thought you said we were getting too close. You wanted me to maintain distance, remember?” Mom’s face tightened. She di
