Chapter One

Ava’s POV

Pain tore through my body, sharp and relentless. I clutched my belly, beads of sweat rolling down my forehead as another contraction hit. My breaths came in ragged gasps, my entire body trembling.

I reached toward the nightstand, where my phone lay just out of reach. My fingers stretched desperately, but the pain was too much for me to bear.

"Mommy?"

A small, frightened voice called out, and I turned my head to see my daughter, Lily, standing in the doorway. Her big brown eyes were wide with worry as she rushed toward me.

"Baby… get the phone," I managed to gasp.

Lily wasted no time. She grabbed the phone and placed it in my unsteady hands. My fingers trembled as I unlocked the screen and dialed the one person who should have been here—Richard my husband.

The phone rang a few times before he answered.

"What?" His tone was cold, impatient.

A sharp stab of pain shot through my body, but I forced myself to speak. "Richard… I’m in labor. Please come home. Please come home now."

He sighed loudly, as if I were an inconvenience. "I’m at work, Ava. I’m busy."

Tears stung my eyes. "Richard, I’m in pain. I need you—"

"Take a taxi to the hospital," he snapped. "I don’t have time for this please. Like I say I'm busy."

I opened my mouth to argue, but then I heard it.

A woman’s voice. Soft laughter.

My breath caught in my throat, my grip tightening on the phone. "Richard, who—"

Before I could finish my words The line went dead.

I stared at the screen in disbelief, my heart pounding.

"Mommy?" Lily tugged at my dress, her little face full of concern. "Is Daddy coming?"

I swallowed hard, forcing a smile. "I don’t know yet, sweetheart."

Another wave of pain wracked my body, and I knew I couldn’t wait any longer.

"Lily, put on your shoes. We have to go to the hospital ok. Mummy needs to get there fast."

She hurried to slip on her sneakers while I wrapped a shawl over my shoulders. With great difficulty, I forced myself to my feet, gripping the wall for support. Every movement sent agony shooting through me, but I didn’t stop.

As I got Outside, I waved down a taxi.

A kind-looking older man pulled up, his concerned eyes meeting mine as he helped me inside.

"Hospital," I breathed out faster.

Lily climbed in beside me, clutching my hand. "Mommy, is the baby coming now?"

I nodded weakly. "Yes, sweetheart. Very soon."

The drive was slow, each second stretching unbearably. My contractions were getting closer together, my vision hazy from the pain. I just needed to make it to the hospital.

Then—everything changed.

Bright headlights coming towards our way. The screech of tires.

A deafening crash.

My world went black.

---

A steady beeping pulled me back to consciousness.

I blinked against the harsh hospital lights, my body feeling heavy, numb.

For a moment, I dared to hope. Maybe I had made it in time. Maybe everything was okay. Maybe my baby was born.

I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain in my abdomen forced me back down. A nurse appeared beside me, adjusting the IV drip.

"You should rest," she said gently. “You need to lay down and rest.”

Panic gripped my chest. "My daughter," I whispered, my voice hoarse. "Where is Lily?"

The nurse hesitated for a moment without a reply. I watch as the silence is given to me without any reply to what I ask.

I reached down, my trembling hands pressing against my stomach. It was flat. Empty.

My breath hitched. "My baby?" My voice barely came out.

I stared at the nurse as I tried to ask but The nurse turned away.

Tears blurred my vision. No. No, no, no.

The door opened, and a doctor stepped in. His expression was grim.

"Mrs…" He spoke with softness that sent chills down my spine.

"Where is my daughter?" I demanded, my voice shaking.

Silence.

A scream built in my throat. "Where is Lily?!"

The doctor took a deep breath as he stared down at me. "I'm so sorry."

The world tilted around me.

No.

I tore the blanket off me and swung my legs over the side of the bed. My body protested, pain shooting through my limbs, but I didn’t care.

"Mrs. please—"

I ignored the nurse’s pleas as I stumbled into the hallway.

I moved from room to room, pushing open doors, searching. I had to find her. I had to find my daughter.

Then I saw it.

A room at the end of the hallway. The door was slightly ajar.

I stepped inside, my breath caught in my throat.

A white sheet covered a small body on the hospital bed.

My heart pounded so hard it hurt. My hands trembled as I reached forward.

Slowly, carefully, I pulled the sheet back.

And then—I saw her.

Lily.

Her tiny face was peaceful, her little fingers curled slightly, as if she were just sleeping.

A sob tore through my chest. My knees buckled, and I collapsed beside the bed.

With shaking hands, I reached out, cupping her cold, lifeless cheek. "No," I whispered, my voice breaking. "No, no, no, my baby."

Tears streamed down my face as I touched her soft hair, willing her to wake up.

"Lily, baby, please," I sobbed, cradling her in my arms. She didn’t move. She didn’t breathe.

This wasn’t real. This couldn’t be real.

A strangled scream escaped my lips as I rocked her gently, whispering her name over and over.

The door opened behind me, but I barely noticed. A pair of strong arms wrapped around me, pulling me away.

"Let go of me!" I thrashed against the doctor’s grip, refusing to release Lily. "She’s not gone! She’s not—"

My cries turned to gut-wrenching sobs.

I clung to my daughter, hoping, praying that this was just a nightmare.

But no matter how many times I called her name, she never answered.

Lily was gone.

Chapter 15: “Show Me”Ava’s POV…I just stood there.Everything around me felt like it was spinning, like my body was here but my brain hadn’t caught up yet. Kieran was changing—like, right there in front of me. Not into a full wolf exactly, but close. His hands were still human but covered in fur. His face still looked like him, but his jaw stretched slightly and those glowing red eyes… they weren’t going away this time. And the worst part?I couldn’t look away.I felt like I was stuck watching something I was never meant to see.Kieran stepped forward, grabbing the woman who had just tried to kill me—like it was nothing. She was still alive somehow, but she didn’t look scared. She actually laughed, like some villain from a movie. She smiled, teeth sharp and weirdly calm.“No one’s gonna accept you anymore,” she spat in his face. “You’re too weak to lead. When the full moon comes, the clans will reject you. A new Alpha will rise.”I didn’t know what any of that meant. Clans? Full moo

Way off.A woman in a dark-red suit stepped forward between two tall guys dressed in black. She had short hair and heels like knives. Her eyes locked on mine the second she entered, and I instantly felt weird—watched, judged, like I’d already failed some test she hadn’t said out loud.“Uh… hi?” I said, taking a step forward. “Who—”She didn’t even let me finish. She moved so fast, it didn’t register until her hand was around my neck.“What the hell—!” I gasped, grabbing her wrist. Her fingers tightened. I struggled against her grip, kicking, clawing, but she didn’t even flinch. And when I looked into her face—her eyes—I froze. They were yellow. Not hazel. Not gold. Bright, glowing yellow like something out of a horror movie. My brain couldn’t even process it.She let out this low laugh, her breath cold aga

Another day of fake smiles and coffee runs for a woman who used to sleep with my ex-husband.Yay.I paused at the front door, holding my phone and staring at the keys. For a second, I was just staring at him, breathing hard, chest tight. And then—Clap. Clap. Clap.I froze. The slow, sarcastic clapping came from behind me. I turned around, and for a second, I didn’t even believe what I was seeing.“Catherine?” I said her name without meaning to. Whispered it, like I’d seen a ghost. She stood there in the open doorway like she owned the place, her blonde hair tied back the way she used to do it when she wanted to show off her cheekbones. Same smug look. Same eyes that used to promise forever. She walked toward me like this was casual—like she wasn’t someone who’d walked out on me, on everything. Her heels clicked against the wood and she didn’t stop until she was right in front of me.“What are you doing here?” I asked, but my voice came out quieter than I meant it to.Catherine smiled, slow and fake. “Still fighting like w

I stayed still, my heart beating harder than it should’ve, but she hesitated.Instead, she whispered, “Why… why did you call me here?”I didn’t answer with words. I leaned in, brushing my mouth lightly against her neck, just below her ear, where her pulse jumped. I let my voice fall into a low whisper.“You’re my wife,” I said. “Why are you acting scared of me?”She pulled back quick, her hand on my chest like she needed space. Her voice was defensive, stubborn. “I’m not scared. I just… I didn’t know why I was called.”I chuckled under my breath, stepping away and dropping onto the couch like I wasn’t losing my mind just being near her. I picked up my drink, s

Chapter 9: “Who’s Laughing Now”Ava's POV…I watched as Linda stood there, looking at me like I’d just slapped her into next week. Her face twisted between shock and straight-up rage, and around us, the other workers were whispering like little bugs, but none of them had the guts to actually say anything out loud.I was brushing my hands off, trying to act chill even though inside I was still heated, when the door opened. I didn’t even have to guess. Lydia. And right behind her, Richard, like some unwanted shadow. They stormed toward us, and Richard barked, “What happened here?”Linda didn’t even hesitate. She pointed dead at me like I was some criminal and said, “She hit me. A cleaner like her hit me.”I almost laughed out loud. Like, seriously? That’s the story we’re going with? This place was honestly a circus and everyone here were clowns.Richard’s face turned this weird shade of red as he spun to me. “Are you crazy? Chapter Eight: Unwelcome ShadowsAva Pov…Richard stood in the doorway, his eyes locking with mine like he’d seen a ghost. For a second, he looked like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. I stayed frozen, dripping wet, the sting of Lydia’s attack still fresh on my skin. The silence dragged out until I finally stood up, straightened my soaked clothes, and faced him with the same cold detachment I’d learned to perfect."Nice to see you again," I said, voice dry as I turned away. His hand caught my wrist, halting me. "What are you doing here, Ava?"I yanked my hand from his grip without hesitation. "Why do you care? We’re not together anymore. Or did you forget that already? Looked like you moved on pretty quick. For a second I never have any doubt."His face twisted. "You think you can just walk back into my life after—after killing our kids?"That stopped me cold, not from guilt, but from rage."You really have the nerve to say that to my face?" I turned, facing him again, the fury

  • Her Tears His Regret    Chapter 7

Chapter Seven…AVA – POV…I was on my knees with a sponge in one hand and a bucket beside me, scrubbing the hallway tiles like a damn janitor. My palms were raw. My knees ached. And all I could think was—my father really did this to me.Not even a desk job. Not a shadowed cubicle. No paperwork. No training. Just a sponge, a bucket, and a hallway. The man who raised me wanted me to start from the bottom—this bottom. I was supposed to crosswz my legs by now, acting like a boss.I remembered Kieran offering me something different. His company. His name. His resources. He didn’t hide what he had, and he didn’t treat me like I was disposable. But I said no. I wanted to take over my father’s empire, my legacy. I wanted to build my name on my own. I never imagined he’d throw me down with the rest of the workers, strip me of everything I knew, and act like I didn’t matter.I dipped the sponge in the water again, squeezing until it dripped, and dragged it over the marble with slow, determined
