Amelie POVAs I walked into our room, I saw that Rosie was up and had eaten the meal that Blake had sent up for her. She looked refreshed, well as refreshed as she could given what she had endured. “How are you feeling?” I ask as I sit at the table with her. “Full,” she says with a laugh. I chuckle, “It is nice to be free, I will admit that,” I share with her as I pick up a piece of leftover fruit and eat it.“How did your meeting go?” she asks me. “Alright. Nobody wants us to leave given that the threat is still out there,” I share with her cautiously. I know she has her heart set on leaving. We had talked before we fell asleep last night. “They cannot keep me here,” she says quietly. “It would not be the same, Rosie. You will have all the freedoms you could hope for. I think they are right. We would be foolish to try and leave now. We do not know what we are up against, and we cannot fight them on our own,” I say to her calmly. She considers what I have said. “I do no
Amelie POV I could not believe my ears. Everyone looked at me as if they just realized I was part of the conversation. “I cannot believe all of you. I am not a toy to assign to whomever is available. I will not be watched every day I am not around you three,” I say pointing to Matt, Blake, or Shane. Shane looks wounded, “Hey, what’s wrong with me?” he says with a smile. I know Blake is still angry that I mentioned Rosie wanted to leave as well. I had not meant to share that information, but I thought it was right in that moment. I did not know how Rosie would respond to Blake demanding she stay at the Blood Moon Pack.Matt looks at me, “Can I have a word with you Amelie?” he asks. I look at him. I know he is trying to be sincere, but he had been so adamant that I was a terrible person, he was going to have me destroyed. And I did not think I would have survived had I stayed here. He walks up to me and takes my arm in his hand. I whip my arm out of his hand and he slowly
Matt POV “Like hell you are!” I say slamming my hand on the table causing Amelie to jump. She looks at me down the table and then looks away. “There are people after you, Amelie; you cannot simply go back to the place they took you and hope to avoid them. They are watching your movements,” I say to her before anyone else can speak.“And further until we know who they are, you can trust nobody,” I add with what I hope is a final word. As Alpha of the Pack, I am used to people following my instructions. Having never had a mate before, I had no idea how to maneuver that relationship. “I agree with Matt, you cannot simply leave and go back to the city you were captured,” Colby adds. Kate nods with him. “You can come home, Amelie,” Kate says again but Amelie shakes her head. She has no desire to return to the Pack who hurt her and who could blame her? I still wanted time alone with Jaxon and his buddies.“I want to get on with my life. I want to go to school and get my educatio
Amelie POVI sit there in disbelief that Colby and Kate still believe what they did when I left. “Why did you bother to come for me, if you believe I did all those things?” I ask. “We never stopped loving you, Amelie. We were disappointed,” Colby says.Look at him in disbelief. “Why, after all these years of me being a model citizen, is it so easy for you to believe the lies?” I ask them angrily. I see their faces shift to confusion. “What do you mean?” Colby asks quietly. I knew that voice. That was his voice that says you better not be lying to me. A part of me simply wants to walk away from all of them but another part wants to tell them the truth. The reality is I have nothing left to lose. I already left my Pack. Clearing my throat, “After my shift went wrong,” I start to say as Colby and Kate squirm in their seats. “I started getting bullied at school. A lot,” I say looking down at my hands. I hear Kate gasp, “I knew it. Why didn’t you tell us?” she demands.I lo
Matt POVI spent an hour last night trying to get Amelie to talk to me before Rosie whipped the door open shouting at me to leave. She then proceeded to slam the door in my face. Blake had popped his head out with a chuckle, “She is a spitfire,” he says with pride before shaking his head and closing his door.I laid in bed for a couple hours trying to think of what I could do or say to make this right with Amelie. We were so fragile the last thing I needed was a misunderstanding adding to our challenges “Misunderstanding?” Thorne, my wolf, snarls. “You did have words with that slut about becoming our Luna,” he reminds me angrily. I shake my head, “Not now, Thorne,” I mutter trying to focus on fixing things. “Yes, now,” he says as he pushes forward in my mind. “I warned you and you did not listen. Now I think it is time for you to listen to me,” Thorne says. “You need to simply go up to her, take her in your arms and mark her,” he says as if what he is saying is logical. Mayb
Matt POVAs I leave Amelie, I relive the fear I had felt at her screams. When I raced into the room, I had no idea what to expect. Seeing her crying and screaming in what was apparently a dream broke my heart. I was grateful to have her back with us again. Even if I was uncertain for how long that would be.For now, I was not letting her out of my sight. I knew Blake felt the same way about Rosie. Someone was still after them. Whoever had them, had gotten away. There was nobody else found in the house after we left. All rogues had been disposed of.What they wanted with the women was confusing. I walk into my office and see Blake and Shane standing there. “I do not want to be away from the women too long,” Blake says. Nodding, “I agree. I dropped Amelie’s bag off, and she was screaming and crying having a bad dream,” I share with both men.“It must have been terrifying for both of them,” Shane says. “What do they want from the women?” he asks. “They have not told us yet.
