Chapter 04 — Friends!

~Aurora POV~

"Aaahhh!"  I yelled at the top of my lungs, watching the dead body in front of me.

"What happened?"  Jacob ran to me inside the room.

"Jacob!"  I looked at him with my eyes widening— my hands and legs shivering.

"What happened, why were you screaming?" He pinched his nose.

"Jacob."  My lips do not dare to speak. I pointed my finger towards the dead body.

His eyes widened as soon as he turned his face and found the dead body in front of him.

"What the heck?" A groan escaped from his mouth.

   "Is he dead?"  I panicked.

"Hey relax."  He cupped one of my cheeks, giving me pleasure through his touch.

"Let me check!" He tapped his fingers on my cheek before stepping towards the dead body.

"Mister!"  Jacob called the person who was lying there covered in blood.

I shivered when I felt a strange smell.

"Who is there?" I turned back when I felt someone's shadow.

The person hid behind the curtains; I can only see his shoes out.

"Jacob, there is someone!" I yelled at the top of my lungs while grabbing my head.

Jacob turned back, but it was late, and the suspect jumped out of the window.

The suspect jumped off the window in such a quick motion that my eyes couldn't even capture his face.

"Hey stop there."  Jacob runs after him, jumping down through the window.

"Jacob."  I shut my mouth, placing my hand on my mouth, and stepped towards the window.

I don't know what to do or think anymore — my hands and legs are shaking in fear, and my pulse is rising second by second.

I am seeing a dead body; oh my god, Aurora, walk up; dammit, you have to be strong.

Everyone gathered together, and rumours spread throughout the college.

The principal called the police and informed them about the death.

Police are examining the dead body.

"Who is he?"  The cop inquired

"He is our college peon." The principal replied:

"What happened?"   Rose whispered in my ear, grabbing my arm.

What should I say? I, myself, don't know anything about it. How did all this happen so suddenly that my brain is not working anymore?

"How did you find this dead body?" Daniel asked me.

"When I made my way to call my mother, I saw him lying there down on the floor and found him dead!" My body started trembling in fear.

"Okay, relax; we are with you!" Ronald muttered, wrapping his hand around my shoulder, and I looked at him—he was giving me a cheeky smile.

"Who is the first person to see this body?" The cop asked everyone.

And here, everyone looked at me in response—I sighed out.

"She is the person!"  The principal pointed his finger at me.

"Miss, when did you find this body?"

"Did you find anyone suspecting around the place?" The cop inquired about the piece of information ending up in front of me.

"Yes!" I wanted to scream, but my lips pressed together in fear.

"Miss, I am talking to you." The cop shook his hand in front of me.

"Did you find anything suspicious around the place when you found the dead body?" The cop inquired.

"Leave her alone!" A familiar voice echoed over the place, grabbed my attention, and made me look in the direction of the voice.

It's Jacob!  He is coming towards us without breaking his stride; there is a sparkle in his hands.

Soon after he approved of me, our eyes met with each other.

As soon as he ended up in front of the cop, he shared a look with me while making eye contact.

"Who are you?"  The cop questioned him, staring at Jacob from head to toe.

"My name is Jacob Lockwood. "I am a freshman, a first-year student." He introduced himself while placing his hands in his pockets.

"I am the main witness!" Jacob muttered.

"What are you saying?" The cop pinched the bridge of the nose.

"This student said that she had found the dead body in the first place and informed everyone!" The cop pointed his finger at me.

"I am the first person who saw the dead body." He sighed, pinching his forehead with his thumb.

The fuck?  What is he saying? Why the heck is he lying?

I don't understand anything about him.

Okay, Aurora, calm down. If he is saying something, maybe there's a reason behind it.

"What do you mean, student?" The principal inquired.

"Yes, principal—I saw the body at first, believe me!"

"Then why aren't you present here and where are you coming from, damnit?" The cop questioned him.

I opened my mouth to defend him, but Jacob said something before I could say anything.

"When I found him, he was already dead while lying there in the pool of blood."

"I was about to tell the administration, but I felt that someone else was here too!"

"I was about to catch him, but he jumped off from the window." Jacob shrugged his shoulders.

"From this window?"  The cop pointed to the one and only window of the room.

The cop's eyes widened while seeing the window state of the room.

"Yes, he jumped down, and then only she came here." Jacob looked at me.

"I told her to tell everyone as I had to find that suspect who was running out there." There is calmness on his face.

Wow, how does he make up a story in such a short story?

Well, half of the story was right— he surely ran after the suspect, but I saw the dead body first.

Everyone watched Jacob as he revealed the piece of information before gossiping with each other.

I pouted my lips and looked at him.

"Have you found the suspect?" The cop asked

"No! I am sorry, but he missed!" Jacob shrugged his shoulders.

   "Damnit!"  The cop was frustrated.

"He jumped off from this window!  The cop looked down through the window.

Jacob said, "Hmm."

"I am the main witness of the case; so, leave her alone." Jacob requested the cop leave me alone.

"Yes, detective! If Jacob is ready to cooperate with you, then I request that you leave the rest of the students alone." The principal requested.

"Alright, Mr. Jacob, you have to come with us to the centre." The cop looked at Jacob

   "Sure, no problem." Jacob replied.

"Okay students, I dismissed the college here, and please don't share this matter with your family—I myself will inform your parents when the time comes." The principal turned to us and muttered, looking at each of us.

"Okay!"  The students muttered with a loud smile.

"You can leave, guys!" The students parted ways as soon as the cop dismissed them.

"Let's go!"  Rosie grabbed my arm while shaking it.

I shared a look with Jacob, asking with my eyes, "Why have you lied?"

"I will meet you after the investigation!" He momentum his lips.

The time passed into thin air—Daniel and Rosie planned to go out as the college ended so quickly.

But I refused after all; on the first day of college, I saw a dead body, so my mood and fun were ruined.

Ronald planned the trip, as I am not participating to have fun, but Ronald and Daniel came with us to our house and spent some time and had lots of fun.

I spent a good time with my friends, but my mind was thinking about one and only Jacob from time to time.

I blinked my eyes as my phone rang—I was trying to sleep for a long time, but who is now?

I opened my eyes before taking my phone in hand to check out.

A message from an unknown number

I clicked on the message to open

"Hey, it's me, Jacob." My eyes widened upon finding a Jacob message.

"Where are you?" Rolling my fingers on the keyboard, I sent the reply back, leaning my back against the pillow.

Omg,  I was so worried about him.

I opened the notification as soon as the reply popped out on the screen.

"Look down from the balcony of your room."

Wait what?  What does he mean?

I jumped off the bed before opening the door of the balcony and stepped and there my eyes widened as soon as I found Jack in front of my house.

"Hey!"  He waved his hand at me.

"What are you doing here?" I was momentuming my lips.

"Come down!"  He gestured, lowering his hand.

"Give me a second; I am coming to you!" I signed and made a gesture.

I stepped back as soon as he nodded his head.

My body turned towards the mirror without my will, and my hand reached out for the lipstick.

I should look a little beautiful in front of Jack—picking up the pink lipstick I wear on my lips.

Then I took a hair comb and rolled on my head while setting my hair—I don't know what I am doing right now!

He is freaking handsome, so I don't want to look pale like a ghost in front of him.

Hehehehe I put some powder on my face and got out of my room to go down and meet him.

"Hey!"  I waved my hand as soon as I approached Jack while exhaling.

  "Hey!"  He smiled back.

"What are you doing here?" I exhaled as I came here while running.

"I said to you—I would meet you after the investigation!" He winked at me.

"Oh, how was the investigation?" I grabbed his arm.

"It was pretty hot!" He muttered.

"Investigate was hot." I groaned, pinching my forehead.

He laughed, placing both hands in his pocket.

"I've never been to the Detective Center; it was much fun to communicate with the officers."

"Are you kidding me?" I looked at myself.

"You asked me the same way, such as when I went on a date with a girl and had fun." He laughed, looking at me.

I groaned, closing my eyes for a second.

"I am sorry!" I chuckled, and he sat on the bench.

"What did the cops ask you?" I inquired, sitting on the bench beside him.

"Have you seen the face of the suspect? Can you tell me something about him?" He sighed, looking at the sky.

"The cop sent me after asking some questions and warned me—I cannot go out of the city unless the case is solved."

"Why did you lie?" He looked at me as I asked him.

"I should be investigating in your place because I was the first one to find the crime." I rolled my eyes at him, biting my lips.

"You're still shivering at the sight of the dead body—then you think you can go to the detective centre and talk to the cops about the case."

"You took the blame on yourself while worrying about me?" I inquired about him.

He cleared his throat while pinching his nose before looking at the sky.

Omg, was he really worried about me?

"I thought I would handle the case better than you!" He looked down at me.

We are looking into each other's eyes while making deep eye contact.

He has a different behaviour from the class time— there is a sparkle in his eyes and a smile arousing his lips.

There is something magical in his face that I can't place with my fingers on his lips.

"Thanks for thinking about me!" I showed him my gratitude while he thought about me, even though we met this morning.

"My pleasure!"  He smiled, standing up.

"Friends?"  I stood up and reached out my hand.

I don't know why, but I feel it—I want him forever.

He chuckled before reaching out and shaking my hand.

"Sure!"  We both chuckled at each other.
